  1. "Oh. Okay!"
  2. Wendy smiled and stopped jabbing her. "Alright. C'mere." Wendy pulled her into a big, cuddly hug. Ara was small enough to fit into her arms like... well, a child.
  3. "But what if she runs away? What if I never see her again? She's my only friend..."
  4. "If you want." Wendy grinned. "But if you want to be like me, then you're going to have to grow out of being so ticklish." She proceeded to poke Ara in the side.
  5. "Nice work anyways. You'll get better at it." Wendy ruffled Ara's hair.
  6. Janice's eyes brimmed with tears. "Nonononono... No."
  7. "Wait, but--" Janice held out a hand. "I mean... she might not want to see me."
  8. "But then they took it all away, I'm assuming?"
  9. "I already told you that I didn't do that!"
  10. "I didn't do that! Someone else did! And I would NEVER TRY TO CONTROL HER. EVER!"
  11. "HE'S TRYING TO--" Janice stopped herself, closing her fist and pushing it against the wall. Yelling wasn't going to get her out of this mess. "I... need my friend back. I can't... I can't lose her. Not again."
  12. "I didn't attack anyone! He's trying to hurt me!" She was clearly a mess of various emotions at this point.
  13. "YOU CAN'T DO THAT!" Janice ran after him. "STOP!"
  14. "PLEASE! SHE'S MY ONLY FRIEND!"
  15. Janice grabbed his arm. "Please!" She gasped, pulling down the bottom half of her mask to reveal her black qhoral veins. "Please, just... listen for a moment."
  16. "You could join our Elite Core if you want. How do you feel about overthrowing tyrannical kings?"
  17. “Wait! Stop!” Janice called, running after him. Trace possessed the kid for a fraction of a second. She might’ve been able to hold onto him longer, but his sheer determination was enough to kick her out prematurely. He might not have even noticed her capturing his body. Even so, in that tiny fraction of time she held onto him, she misguided one of his feet just enough to trip him.
  18. Suddenly, a tall woman appeared in front of him, arms crossed and eyes knit into a disapproving glare.
