  1. Three Pacis were collapsed onto the ground in moments. Aligning the daggers in her fingers to hit all three in the throat had been simple enough; she hurled a fourth down at the approaching officers to make sure they were bent on stopping her. Someone fired a warning shot. She couldn't see who from around the corner. Elya drew her sword, retrieving the nearby daggers for quick access. With luck, nobody would be putting any holes in her today.
  2. I'm pretty sure I've seen the movie for it. Is that the one about the gambling ring gangsters and the Salvation Army lass?
  3. "Put your hands in the air!" Elya did. She didn't tell them that she was concealing a couple throwing daggers there, though. "You caught me." "On your knees." She dropped, letting them approach her. "Hands behind your head." Elya slipped the daggers into her palms, waiting for them to walk over and cuff her.
  4. "But the odds that you'll have to do that are... minimal."
  5. Ayia leaned in close and whispered, "If you're gonna crash, then they give you a big flannel bag and tell you to jump out with it."
  6. I could direct you to Iconar Collective, but won't because it's terrible.
  7. This doubled, alright. Probably just a form error.
  8. "Not permanently or effectively. The best way to do it would be to take over the planet fast; they'd be more likely to stop sendng supplies, at the very least."
  9. Elya flashed Ji a quick signal for him to keep going while she stayed behind for the Pacis to find, drawing her sword and waiting for the unsuspecting soldiers to turn the corner.
  10. I really really really really really really really really really really really really really don't want to be at school today.

No fair! I mean, I didn't get to school until noon, b/c I slept in (COVID has it's perks).

I don't think there's a single person who doesn't get the school hating vibe.

Fadran, everyone I’ve asked at school has lost sleep yesterday/today

Are you also in that bracket?

Yeah, today kinda sucked... It was an early release, but I had to stay for two hours after it got out so I could do rewrites for English.

      *hugs Fadran*

I hope the day turned out okay, despite it having a bit of a crummy start.

  11. Ayia chuckled. "Not even the people who make these things know how they work. But they do."
  12. "It's not that bad. Depends on the flying thing."
  13. Ayia put her Rowlet back into her mini dimension, then stretched her arms, pointedly nicking the tip of Queen's nose. "Haven't been on anything that flies for awhile." Other than my Line, of course, but that doesn't count. @DramaQueen
  14. "Will do." Ayia was rather comfortable in her sit.
  15. Also: this is a weird enough thing that I feel the need to mention it. Middle-Earth is probably the single most hard-worldbuilt place in fantasy history. There's a scudding Silmarillion for it. However, the way that Tolkien writes it in Lord of the Rings is actually really scudding soft. Whenever he mentions fancy place names or ancient dragons it's not to give you a history lesson, but rather to keep that sweet, sweet text flow that he's always been so good at. Take this line for example: “You cannot pass," he said. The orcs stood still, and a dead silence fell. "I am a servant of the Secret Fire, wielder of the flame of Anor. You cannot pass. The dark fire will not avail you, flame of Udûn. Go back to the Shadow! You cannot pass.” How many people who read this are gonan know what the Secret Fire, Anor, and Udun are? The answer is very few. But this line is so badchull and incredibly fun to both read and say, which was Tolkien's whole intent. So that's what I mean when I say that The Lord of the Rings is the softest hardy in fantasy history. (Come back next time for how Harry Potter is the hardest softie in fantasy history)
  16. "Yeah. Sure. Don't push them too hard, though." Fadran still wasn't so sure how to feel about such a loyal follower joining them so quickly. So far they'd been pretty useful; but, of course, he couldn't simply just trust anybody who offered to serve him.
  17. Elya held up three fingers, dropped them in succession, then threw down the packet. A loud flash went off, followed by a massive amount of smoke. "Go."
  18. Fadran. Queen's responded to you. Icona said. You mean it worked? Fadran grinned. Great. I'll get it in a second. Y'know... when I'm done with all these new folks.
