  1. "You cannot, because there aren't any." Fadran shrugged. "They have thousands of entire universes under their command; it's kinda hard to map that out."
  2. Depends. I've dropped a few then picked them back up. I'm not super picky, but sometimes I'm in more of a read-y mood than other. I wasn't liking Dune much when I first started reading it, then picked it up when the movie was gonna come out soon and just absolutely breezed through it. Uhhh... that's a toughie. I'm a roleplayer, so in there either Fellowship or Zvso. Also Synnie updates her art thread a lot, so that's a good one too. We met on the Shard, both got big ol' crushes on each other, went into denial for a long time (it's a stranger on the i n t e r n e t !), then eventually met up irl. Ever since we've been a thing
  3. "Very important. This place is basically one universe-sized military base for the Clan." "Uhh... yes, lots, and yes."
  4. *Looks up some examples 'cause there ain't one off the top of my head* I'm not a huge fan of prophecies. They're usually all "either the Chosen One or the Dark Lord will be destroyed at the end" which is like... yeah. Duh. If someone's predicting the future then I like it to be a lot more set and nonnegotiable. Like the Ancient Greek oracles, or all the stuff that happened in Ted Chiang's writings. Honestly, something that did this well was actually Ninjago (which is not something I ever though I'd be saying). The prophecy said that the Green Ninja was destined to destroy Garmadon, and when Garmadon's tryna bond with Lloyd he kind of accepts that there is no winning here. Also the Secret Heir trope, which is a term I've only just learned. It's basically how the protagonist--a rando in the middle of nowhere, dragged into the story for no reason whatsoever--is somehow the chosen one or the son of an ancient king. I'm fine if you have reasoning behind it; like, for example, Luke Skywalker. Obi-Wan Kenobi had been waiting nearby for years for Luke to be ready to become a Jedi. Rey, on the other hand, was an absolute nobody who became a jedi kinda all on her own--which is fine, I guess. But then she was just randomly Emperor Palpatine's granddaughter! Why? How? Also also the whole "imma tell you my evil plan then leave you here to escape unsupervised bwahahaha!" Like... come on.
  5. Movement and whatnot would generate Infrared Rays as far as I know. Nearby stars do the same, but at a distance you're mostly gonna get X-rays and maybe a bit of Gamma if you're really unlucky. As long as it's detecting things with a lower frequency than Microwaves then you should be fine.
  6. "It's limited based on training. Infinite power and experience could potentially control everything for an unlimited amount of time, but that's never happened in my universe." "Dunno. Hard to tell. A few obvious ones, dozens more that're hidden... probably hundreds that have yet to come to light."
  7. Elya was dodging around bullets and rock-coated fists, dragging her sword through wherever she could fit it. Her katana clanged against Altei's rocky outsides, neatly nullifying her sword at every opportunity. Only once or twice had she left a slice on him: with the Pacis still shooting at her, she could only focus so much on dueling the Mystic. He fought back viciously. Every swing of the fist came closer and closer to her as she swung left and right, defending and attacking each in turn. Ducking and sliding around each bullet just let the Mystic come closer. She needed to take out those Pacis if she were to stand a chance against defeating Altei anytime soon; with a breath, Elya risked a moment to throw a dagger at one of the shooters. Altei rammed his fist into her stomach. Her surprised shriek caught in her lungs as every ounce of breath knocked out of her, and Elya hit the street with a sickening scraape. She couldn't breathe. Breaths dashed in and out in a panic. He strode towards her, wiping a bit of blood off his fist. Had she gotten cut too? The Pacis she'd attacked fell, but all the others leveled their weapons at her. Well this was bad.
  8. "Well, they're more of stages of matter and energy. Solid, liquid, and gas are the Material side, while there's Heat, Attraction, and Kinetics for the Energy side." "Suppressed as in people displaying magic are often imprisoned or executed. Some are allowed to live normally under the condition that they keep it controlled, but more dangerous types are disposed of early." Fadran let out a breath. "At the very least, pretty much every form of biological magic was snuffed out a long time ago, except in carefully-monitored government programs."
  9. "This is a pretty biologically diverse place. Lots of species of intelligent peoples. But the magic's heavily suppressed, except in those who join the government." Fadran snuffed out his hand. "I'm an Arcane Mage, which lets me control the six base elements of my universe; one of the only free ones left nearby the Clan."
  10. "The Fenon Clan is the actual name for the evil empire we've been talking about." "Most places have their own types of magic." Fadran coated his hand in a cold flame. "Like so."
  11. "Yeah, it's... a bit convoluted. The locals here can be pretty dangerous if they mix together, so the Clan seperated them all as much as possible. Where there's more than one colony on an island, they're seperated by walls. Where there isn't, the only way to get between is via spaceship; but pretty much all of those are controlled by the Clan." Fadran shrugged. "Everything here is controlled by the Clan."
  12. "It's a piece of an artificial planet. The Empire has a whole bunch of these." Fadran racked his brain for a moment. "The universe is... uhh... I don't think the locals have named it at all. Outsiders refer to this place as 'The Colonies.' Those who know about it, anyways."
  13. "It's a Resistance hideout. A place for us anti-evil-empire folks." Fadran gestured around. "In a broader sense, we're in Colony Fourteen."
  14. Well, the way phones work is by transferring data via light waves and translating them into sound. So carrying information like that is pretty feasible, I'd say. But what you're suggesting is that you can simply detect light wave fluctuation when stuff happens, right?
  15. A Chaos Mystic. Of course. He seemed like it. They worked by distraction. But Elya was trained better than that. A flaming warrior running right at her... that would terrify any normal person into freezing or running. Not her. Altei was exposed. She waited for a moment, then simply held out her blade for him to run into. He jumped over it without any hesitation. Oh? Elya pivoted. She slashed at him, but her blade glanced off. For a moment between the strike and his fall, Elya could see a hard, earthen shell around Altei's arm. He hit the ground. Slash. Another clang. Elya swung her blade again and again, three times in quick succession, hoping in vain for some kind of weak spot. Each strike was knocked aside, leaving a dusty cloud from where she'd hit him. They both stopped. Elya slid a step back, and Altei pulled his face out from behind his arms. His arms and chest were caked in a tough earth, now with a couple slice marks from her katana. "You're fast." Altei noted. "So are you." Elya meant it. The stone slowly creeped further and further across his arms. The bit on his chest stayed around the same size for the time being. Altei moved into a fighting stance. Elya steadied her blade, just watching him for the time being. He held up a finger, then started running at her. And the gunshots resumed.
  16. The Mystic jumped onto the road, hitting it with a loud crack. The shooting stopped for a moment as he strode towards her. He was shorter than her, but by no means weak-looking. Light skin, golden eyes: Medietas, for sure. Elya would've said he was handsome, but the unlevel shorts were a bit much. He could've at least worn a shirt. "I'm Altei," he said, voice chirpy and arrogant. "You?" Elya looked for a weapon. She couldn't see any, other than his daggers. There was something... off about this one. "I'll tell you later." Elya said, facing him with her sword. He shrugged. "Alright." Then Altei ran at her with arms ablaze, suddenly engulfed with flame.
  17. Fadran grinned, then pocketed the letter away for when he could read it again later. There was a bit of a situation right now.
  18. More Pacis were running around the corner now, readying their weapons and firing at her. Elya sucked in and pushed out breaths, fine-tuning her muscles' precision, feeling every disturbance in the world around her. She weaved between bullets, slashed across soldiers, and caused as much general chaos as possible. Most Pacis couldn't account for a Mystic who could jump off walls, capture the wind, and avoid any attack they threw at her. She wondered what it'd be like, for the last thing they saw to be the momentary flash of a blade. Movement. On the roof. Elya pivoted, kicking back against the street. A throwing dagger--just like hers--sliced through the air and just across her forehead. The pain was distant and weak, but it was there. A second too late would've put a hole in her skull. A bullet zipped by her hair. She'd made a mistake, diverting all her attention away. Ducking into an alleyway, Elya reassessed the area. Just a few moments was all she needed--several around the corner over there, a few more approaching her alley, and then the newcomer on the roof. Another dagger. Elya dodged this one easily. No time to waste; she ran back out throwing her own daggers at the nearby Pacis and scanning the rooftop for the newcomer. Oh. Great. One of His Highness's personal Mystic warriors stood there, watching her with a cocky grin.
  19. Faaaaaaaaadran. "What?" Queen's passing a note to you. He grinned. "Great." Fadran reached out his hand a little ways, focusing his mind into the Scape and feeling at Icona's presence. He was well-practiced in this sort of thing, so the letter fell into his hand in just a few moments. @DramaQueen
