  1. For those of you not in the know:

    0.9999999… is equal to 1. exactly.

    if that seems wrong, recall that 0.333333… is equal to exactly 1/3, meaning 0.33333..*3 = 3/3, and therefore 1

    still don’t believe me? 0.3333… is also equal to 3/9. Funnily enough, putting any of these lads over 9 will make it repeat in decimal form. 2/9 is 0.22222…; 7/9 is 0.7777777… so 9/9 is equal to 0.999999… as well as 1.

     

    if you think that’s stupid, then you’d be right. But it’s not math’s fault; it’s society’s. The only reason our fractions have repeating decimals the way they do is because we use Base-10; if we did Base-12 instead, for example, 1/3 would be equal to 0.40 instead.

      Yeah it would be hard for the people who know decimal but if you only knew Hexadecimal it would be way easier
