Probably not. Brandon will probably take 20 years to finish the Stormlight series, and Patrick only has one book left.
-
The Mistborn burns Atium, then stabs the Windrunner through the eyeslit with an aluminum dagger. Dead Radiant. The mistborn burns Atium, dodges the Division/Shardblade, then burns duraluminum and pewter, punching through the Radiant's chestplate, then burns Chromium while touching the Skybreakers chest. They then shoot the almost immobile Radiant with a dozen or so coins. Mistborn: Flys into the air and hovers above the Dustbringer shooting coins and waiting for them to run out of Stormlight. Same as Dustbringer. Barrage of metal objects. Detect the illusions with bronze, then wait for the Lightweaver to attempt to soulcast you, start burning all your metals as soon as they do, and kill them while they're distracted. Die. Float above them barraging them with metal until they run out of stormlight, then swoop in for the kill. float above the ground and pepper the Stoneward with metal, then swoop in for the kill once they run out of stormlight. Lots of metal throwing, followed by aluminum daggers.
-
Yes. No one is infallible.
-
We don't know that for sure, so we can't use that for the theoretical fight. And while the Mistborn's fist is still impeded in the Radiant's chest, they wipe out all of the Radiant's stormlight. Then the Radiant then dies of their injuries. I'm not saying that Mistborn would win every time, but against the peaceful orders they have a good chance of winning. A Mistborn can detect illusions with bronze or copper. (I always forget which is which.) A Mistborn being prepared for something like that basically ruins the entire strategy. Also, Zane was just toying with Vin, he was completely sure of his own victory. A Mistborn with all sixteen metals and atium could probably beat most of the orders fairly easily. Only the more combat oriented ones could potentially survive.

The bottom line is this: In order for a book to be good, there needs to be some sort of conflict in it. Perhaps Hoid discovers that everything he's been doing has been playing right into Odium/Autonomy/someone we haven't met yet's hands. He then has to change both his plans. In Dragonsteel, we will at least see Hoid develop into what he is today.
-
I thought you were saying that Vin was the only person that could process Atium shadows, I edited my post.
-
Yeah, but a great book would make you want to keep reading. When Hoid is the main character, we are going to see all of his internal struggles. If he has none, then he is a flat character, and as such wouldn't make a good protagonist.
-
Have you ever heard the saying "too much of a good thing?" So Hoid shouldn't think about his actions? I am not saying that he changes his mind completely, I'm saying that he thinks about whether his goal is worth it, or something similar.
-
Knife through the eyeslit? duraluminum powered pewter punch? shooting a chunk of metal the size of your fist into the Radiant at 100+ miles an hour? Edit- Someone like Kaladin could be able to do that, but an average Radiant? Nope.
-
With Atium, a Mistborn could win a close range fight with a fifth ideal Radiant.
-
Those are comic book characters. This is Epic Fantasy. Would you read a book about a Gary Stu who goes around out-maneuvering all of his foes, with no internal conflict whatsoever? I'm not saying that Hoid needs to have a complete reversal in his views, but a little wavering in his goals couldn't hurt.
-
For an entire book? With no character development? With a main protagonist that doesn't grow or change? Brandon could make that conversation good because he writes good character arcs. He writes good characters, and Hoid is fine without a character arc because he doesn't need one. Not yet. For now, he's simply the mysterious character that pops in for an occasional Easter egg or cameo. When he has an entire book written about him, if he has no internal conflict, then he won't remain the compelling character he is.
-
Hoid has no character arc as of now, but if we got an entire bookk of Hoid with no character arc, it would be dull.

Well, Syl's explanation was that she was searching for Kaladin, and that she knew he was out there. The Stormfather had a bunch of different candidates, and he was in denial about the bond to begin with.

What would happen if you lobbed Nightblood into the Dor?
NameIess replied to Staenbridge's topic in Cosmere Discussion
If Nightblood's intent isn't strong enough, then it could be loyalty or leadership, depending on whether or not the Shards intent is internal. If it's not ignored, then the Shard could turn into a cult leader dedicated to destroying evil.- 44 replies
