    Nameless groaned, sitting up. Storms, that hurt. He blinked his eyes open, surprised to see a bright blue sky above him, a peaceful green plain replacing the dying majesty of the Gearverse. "Where am I?"

    The wanderer paled. That thing had just taken down a narrator. "What am I doing with my life?" Outwardly, she shouted at the thing. "Yeah, that's it. Come and get me you ugly monster! I'm not afraid of you!"

    Withy the Witherlord stepped out of the shadows smiling. It wasn't often that a narrator gave himself up on a silver platter like that.

    Nameless screamed in agony as the wave of evil power washed over him, corrupting him, reaching deep inside him for the darkness that lived there.

    Nameless ducked the bolt, but was knocked off his feet by the blast.

    Nameless charged the abomination that used to be Sequence. he slashed with Shar, but the thing summoned a corrupted Narrationblade to block. "Well, you were. Now you're a withergeist, and your original consciousness is trapped inside your own head, where you can create a perfect reality for yourself."

    The wanderer stared at the chaos around her. At the broken clockwork beetle. Remember what? Nameless punched Thaidakar in the face. "No connections. Also, I think we have a problem." He pointed at the withergeist that had risen from Sequence's corpse. It seemed... darker than the others.

    Nameless popped out of his reverie just in time to shove grab Sequence. "Okay guys, just buy me a little more time and I can figure out how to kill withergeists."

    Nameless glared at Thaidakar. "Yeah, thank Ado that you pulled me into this deathtrap. I don't remember how to kill these things. Are they weak to rain? There was a spear, I know. But it broke." He winced as a withergeist brushed him. "I just know that they're very dangerous. And they corrupt whatever they touch."

    Nameless popped into the universe, pulled there by Thaidakar's summoning. He stared at the Witherlord, glanced down at his suddenly corporeal form, looked up to see the withergeists swarming towards him. Then he cursed and pulled out Shar. "Storming doloken! Why in tenth rusting name of the Almighty are you pulling me into this? The only guy I know of that could fight this guy was X, and I haven't seen him in a long time." He swung his Sword desperately, forcing back the withergeists closest to him.

    The Witherlord merely stood silent, watching as the withergeists closed in on Thaidakar. I have no idea how withergeists are made.

    The Witherlord laughed. "I am nothing so insignificant as that. I am, perhaps, the consequence of careless narration. The withergeist who became sentient. I was first called "Withy" by one who thought to tame me. Now... I am far more than that." Withy's a character from all the way back on page 800.

    The sword, forged of the essence of Adonalsium, began withering to dust. The Witherlord grinned, backing away as Withergeists swarmed towards Thaidakar.

    The Witherlord rammed his fist through Thaidakar's chest from behind.

    Nameless poked his head in to give Thaidakar some advice. "Uh, the Witherlord's not a Dawnshard. I'm pretty sure his name's Withy, and he's, uh... a little bit more dangerous than something like that."

    The wanderer looked down at the little thing. "What do you want me to do? I have no idea what those black things are, but I don't think I'm the one to beat them."

    Yeah, but the changes turn sleep from something that can shut a pokemon down completely into something that might let you get a free setup move. Sleeping a pokemon basically forces you to either give your opponent a semi-safe switch cause you can only safely hit them with a status or set up, or risk hitting a sleeping pokemon and waking them up. Maybe increasing the chance to wake up if a pokemon is hit with an attacking move would be a good idea, but I think that a 100% and 75% chance might be a bit too much. That doesn't get rid of the supereffective judgement, and you're going to have to have a focus sash or sturdy pokemon to survive a hit from Arceus, or maybe a prankster to get priority. So one set of spikes kinda ruins most "counters" and even if you pull it off you only got Arceus to do 2x instead of 3x damage.

    TLR didn't know about the pits being destroyed. Straff hid it from him. Even if he had figured it out, the well was being refilled soon as you pointed out, and besides that there was always the stockpile.

    The wanderer stared at the dissolving Mechanic for a moment. Then she looked up at the once-majestic gears, now trembling and grinding with the black taint of chaos upon them. Merciful Domi, this is a mess. She reached into her pack and pulled out her Korathi pendant. With trembling fingers, she prepared to activate it and send herself out of this mess. Nameless looked on, very happy that he'd decided to stay out of this.

    Meanwhile, the wanderer was frantically shaking the sleeping mechanic. She wasn't sure who that guy who had just stepped out of nowhere was, but she was grateful that he'd distracted the withergeists.

    Well, rest would get a lot better. And sleep would get a lot worse. Might not even be viable. You have to spend one turn to maybe hit a sleep (unless you have spore and the opponent isn't grass and doesn't have safety goggles) so that you can put the pokemon to sleep, which lets you get one turn of sleep for certain, 3 at most, during which you can't use attacking moves without waking them up. I think it would just be too rng based with too little benefit to be good. Good luck doing that against the pokemon that is in the top 9 fastest in the game. And can fire off a stab super effective (3x) damage 100 base power move from a 150 base special attack stat. Let's put it this way: Your Arceus with choice specs and max special attack investment can 3 hit KO Lugia with judgment. with a +1 special attack boost, Arceus can 2 shot. And Lugia is one of the tankiest pokemon ever. Maybe.

    The wanderer spun on the withergeists, eyes opening wide in horror.

    On your type changes, I like the bug and Ice changes, but I'm iffy on your ghost changes. Ghost types are already good, and making them immune to sleep and poison seems unnecessary. For the status conditions, I like frostbite replacing freeze, but the sleep changes seem either underpowered or overpowered. Like, if pokemon still have a chance to wake up without taking damage, then you're just making it a lot worse. I don't see a lot of people using it anymore, especially in doubles. If pokemon can't wake up normally, then it's completely broken, switch in a pokemon with shadow tag, put the opponent to sleep, then just set up and win. Basically it'll be a Mega Gengar meta. Regardless, Rest will get a lot stronger, especially in doubles, as you can hit yourself to wake up immediately. The changes to weather and added abilities would probably make the legendary birds trio a lot better, particularly with the changes to hail. In particular, Zapdos would probably be among the best non-completely broken pokemon. With the new abilities, I don't know how good adaptive defense will be. Seems like you could manipulate it to give it a bunch of crippling weaknesses. I think for distorded space it would be cool to make all moves 100% accurate, or maybe just Palkia's. That way Dialga and Palkia have more distinct abilities. I'd maybe change Giratina's too. Arceus is just so broken that it could never be used competitively. Super effective+stab on every move, and immunity to basically every type, the only weakness being a 4x to rock? Coming off of a base 150 in every stat, that is completely broken. So basically, Arceus will be banned from just about every competitive format. So basically, your changes will change competitive pokemon quite a bit, especially with the allowance of Megas, Z-moves, and dynamax. Biggest change will probably come in the Uber tier, (which is the tier where you can use basically anything) where most of the strongest legendaries are. Arceus will be banned from Uber for certain. The top legendaries will be much more powerful than non-legendaries, but that will probably not do any favors for the competitive metagame. That said, I've never played a pokemon game in my life and all my competitive knowledge comes from watching youtubers play the games, so what do I know.
