  1. The Valiant One narrowed his eyes. "You do seem familiar, but I can't place where I've seen you before." He shrugged. "Anyways, what are your names? I'm called the Valiant One. I'm an adventurer." The Valiant One looked between Bat and Tam, blessedly ignorant as to their conversation but still able to see their facial expressions and hear their laughter. "I assume you're both telepathic?" Malevolence nodded. "Not a totally pathetic motivation. Far from the worst I've heard." Balitan pulled out a notebook and flipped through the pages. "So far, I have confirmed the structure of Prismite, tested the rate at which it is used up by various applications of Narrative abilities, and confirmed the density of the sample you gave me. I would say rather low, if my math is correct." He looked up at Rebus. "What tasks did you have for me?"
  2. “Hm. Since you won’t confirm the existence of any evil goals, perhaps you could tell us about your regular goals?” — “I have learned much. But first, you said you had Nullite?” “Hello!” The Valiant One waved at Tam and Bat. “Your faces look familiar. Have we met before?” @Through The Living Glass
  3. “Thanks.” The Valiant One walks down the hall, checking the rooms along it for people.
  4. "Cricket and Rose? A man and woman? They both had some monster blood splatters on them, and Cricket looked almost dead from exhaustion. Have you seen them?"
  5. Balitan called Rebus. "Hello? I would like some samples of another fundamental metal for research. Also I would like to pick your brain about some things." @Dragonheir "Hello. Did you see where Cricket and Rose went?" The Valiant One asked the guy.
  6. "Connections of any kind can break you." Malevolence's eyes glittered darkly. "If one knows the proper pressures to apply to them." The Valiant One walked into the cabin, wearing a new cloak with the hood down, sword in a sheath at his side. "Always pack a spare set of clothes when you're monster hunting! Is Cricket all right?"
  7. "Oh. Can't do that either, sorry." The Valiant One looked around. "Where did you say the house was? I can carry you if you need it."
  8. The Valiant One looked up. "Huh? Oh, I don't have any horses, no."
  9. "A trainee then." The adventurer nodded. "Do you perhaps know where a river I could use to wash off would be?" "You've interacted yes, but you're not close to them. From my observations, Narrators seem to require regular interaction with normal people in order to remain grounded. Ruia, you, others. It's a pattern. Besides, my evil communication device contacted you."
  10. "I'm not a Narrator. And I didn't attend the party." The Valiant One sighed. "You're an Enuller?"
  11. Yah The Valiant One turned his grimace onto his clothes. "Hello. What is your name?" "You're in a class focused on teaching people to be evil, and waxing poetic about 'evil duels' and 'evil expressions'. Also, you're a Narrator without close personal connections to non-Narrators."
  12. The man jumped back as the monster was transformed into a giant pile of blood and guts. "Excellent job." He said, as soon as he'd wiped the monster guts from his face. "You asked who I was? I am merely an adventurer. Some call me Valiant One." He grimaced. "Lately, I don't think the moniker fits." "So, are you willing to spill your evil goals?"
  13. Malevolence shrugged. "My goals will inevitably upset many. Besides, I am certain the Machination views me more highly than this 'elite mercenary'." The man valiantly continued his slide, sword cutting a gash in the monster as he slid to the ground, covered in blood.
  14. "Oh, I wouldn't leave enough of her to be brought back to life. Rule one of the school of evil: Make sure they're dead."
  15. The man managed to hang on. "What does it take to kill this thing?" He muttered to himself. He pulled his sword free in a spray of monster blood, then slid down around the beast's neck, slashing his sword in an attempt to slit its throat as he did so. Malevolence lifted an eyebrow. "I'm afraid I don't follow."
  16. "I cannot die? That is news to me." Malevolence looked intrigued. "Is there a reason for this supposed immortality?" -- The man finally managed to regain his sword, blessing the luck that had kept Cricket's beam of darkness from hitting him. With effort, he pulled the blade free from the monster's head, then stood, stabbing the sword down into the beast's skull with all of his might.
  17. “Perhaps I simply believe in finding out what she can do.” The man held on grimly, slowly crawling towards his sword.
  18. The man dashed forwards again, leaping into the air and grabbing onto the monster's head, climbing towards his sword.
  19. Malevolence raised an eyebrow at him. "Incomplete information? Whatever do you mean by that?" "I need my sword back!" The man shouted back. "Can you distract the monster so I can get back on its head?"
  20. The man fired his crossbow into the monster's open mouth.
  21. The man reloaded his crossbow and aimed it at the monster's head, but hesitated before firing, not wanting to hit Rose.
  22. Well I missed yours until now, so we're even. "No, I am merely confident in my ability to handle whatever you do." Malevolence grinned cockily. The man took the opportunity to regain his feet and pull a crossbow bolt out. He began reloading as quickly as he could, hoping the monster would stay distracted.
  23. The man rolled away from the monster, cursing softly. From his cloak he pulled a loaded crossbow, shooting it at the monster's face.
  24. The man held on desperately with one hand, stabbing his sword down into the monster’s head before being flung off violently, losing his grip on both the monster and his sword.
  25. The cloaked man leapt into the air, grabbing onto the monster's head as it passed by.
