  1. "I'm terribly sorry, it's just that I'm already managing three or four different people at the moment, and it's extremely taxing. We can do the test now and set up an appointment later..." Omen trailed off suddenly, cocking his head as if listening to something. "Actually, he said he wants to see you." Moni frowned. "Can you take me to it?"
  2. It could be a gateway to the void between worlds were withergeists live. Moni would probably be able to recognize it, or Unintelligible.
  3. "Uh, alright. I suppose I'll let the Dreamsmith handle the weapon making part. Very well, I'll slot you in once the Dreamsmith's done with the others."
  4. "I guess I see. What kind of a blade do you think would be good?"
  5. "Fine, fine. Why do you need this blade?"
  6. "Oh, I can take a message. What did you want to tell them?"
  7. "Good, good." Omen pulled out a notebook. "Uh, let's see... Ah, here we are. Why do you want to see the Dreamsmith?" "Could you... come back later?" Omen looked embarrassed. "I think we're full at the moment."
  8. "Very well I will... test you." Omen's look of concentration increased, and Abalodor was suddenly alone in the darkness. For a brief moment, at least. Then he was back where he'd been previously in front of Omen, who was now leaning on the wall for support. "Apologies. It is... difficult to manage so many people at once. I think I'll just ask you a few questions instead. Is that acceptable?" On the other side of the door sat a figure with his back to Falvan, sharpening a sword at a grindstone.
  9. "I am not the Dreamsmith. You think he will give you a weapon as powerful as what I am offering? He fears what you would do with it. He cares too much for narrators to grant you a weapon capable of shaking their hold over TLT. Only power will save your people, power enough to inspire fear. Fear is the only way to control narrators. Without fear you will die." The figure held out his hand to Cognition. "I will give you a chance to reconsider. Think carefully before you reject my offer a second time; I will not extend it again." Desolation's grin faded, replaced by a thoughtful expression. "Very well. You have passed my test. You may see the Dreamsmith." Desolation warped, forming into a door that seemed only half-real. "The Dreamsmith is waiting for you." Omen, looking very strained, painfully turned his nightmarish face towards the Once-Author. "You...seek...the....Dreamsmith?"
  10. "I will give you a withergeist to bond. It will grant you great power. The power to kill those who threaten you, even narrators. As your people fear narrators now, so will the narrators learn to fear you. In exchange, I ask nothing, save that you use your power to stop the tyranny of the narrators."
  11. "I can give it to you. I can give you the power to stop any of them from ever hurting you or any Inkling ever again." Falvan hasn't yet reached the Dreamsmith. This is his test. Desolation grinned. "You're right. I won't change. How does it make you feel, knowing that you are responsible for the death of Unintelligible? For Thaidakar? In fact, even the return of Darkness is on your head."
  12. The footsteps became louder, then stopped. Lights flickered on, revealing a figure made of darkness. "Hello Inkling. I understand you seek the power to stand up to the Narrators." "You cannot argue with me. I will continue to kill. I will kill every narrator, and then every person, who lives. And when they are all dead, then and only then will I kill you. It is all your fault."
  13. "What do you gain by not killing? I want to destroy. I will only be satisfied when everything else that is not me is dead."
  14. "I destroy because I want to." Desolation kicked the object in front of him, turning it over, revealing it to be the corpse of Unintelligible. "It is my nature. Whenever I am unleashed, I destroy. And this time, it is your fault. Without you I would still be imprisoned. Everything that I do is on your head."
  15. The Dreamsmith was not there. Desolation smiled. "Why seek the Dreamsmith? You have already held a weapon greater than any he could make. The Nohr-Maul blade is far superior to that one's work."
  16. The room brightened to reveal Desolation, a smile on the Inkling's face as he stared at something on the ground in front of him. The rest of the group disappeared, leaving Cognition alone. In the darkness, footsteps sounded. Omen stared at Abalodor, a look of intense concentration on his face. "You... seek the Dreamsmith as well?" His voice was strained and he spoke slowly, as if distracted. "I am not him. I will test you, and if you prove worthy I will bring you to him." Cognition hasn't reached the Dreamsmith yet, and even if Cognition had Abalodor wouldn't be able to use their connection to reach the Dreamsmith. Generally it isn't possible to reach the Dreamsmith without Omen, although it could in theory be done using the correct method.
  17. "Then you will be tested." Everyone else vanished suddenly, leaving Falvan alone in the darkness. "Do you also seek the Dreamsmith?"
  18. Platypus's form shifted, and suddenly Omen stood in front of Falvan. "Do you seek the Dreamsmith?"
  19. "You can speak for them, but I cannot make a weapon for them. The weapons I make are useless in the hands of anyone besides the one I made them for."
  20. "I am sorry, but it does not work that way. If they wish a blade from me, they must be brave enough to come to me. I promise not to harm them if they do come, although Omen might. This is the most I can do."
