  1. When was time travel banned, specifically? Because I don't see any conversation about it in my searches. It isn't possible to actually change the past because the old posts are still there, but I see no reason that time travel should be banned overall, for example to bring an item or person back from the past.
  2. "Well I have plenty of time to listen." The drone pointed out.
  3. "Not quickly. We cou- Unintelligible was interrupted as the air in front of them split, revealing a forest of green leaves and dense vegetation. Somewhere in the near distance, the trickling of a stream could be heard. Unintelligible blinked. "I suppose we could... walk over there." Lyric cocked his head. "Oh, I think I did keep a journal at one point. I... lost it." Don't think that happened. Xino was all for the time travel in that situation. Actually, the first mention of time travel being banned that I can find is @Bird Furious saying true time travel was impossible (correct unless people went back and edited a ton of posts) and then @Through The Living Glass saying she thought it was banned a long time ago. So I don't believe there was ever a formal decision. "I need," Omen muttered. "An interpreter. Someone who speaks your language." A misty pulse shot out from the spider's web, as Omen reached out with his powers to summon Meat the Minstel. Excuse me, but I have a potential trial-seeker whose manner of communication I cannot understand. Your services are required.
  4. My headcannon is that the voice is Antagonist's plot armor manifesting to stop Rebus from getting beaten.
  5. Yes, I would be fine with a fairly violent movie, especially considering Kelsier. And also thinking about the Marsh scene, the books were very brutal in a way that doesn't really hit you (or at least me) the same way as it would in a visual format I could see that being a cut away, focusing more on Elend's reaction.
  6. If by riot you mean complain online and to any Sanderfans we know irl, then yes, we will riot. (and be very sad) Anyways, this has gotten a bit derailed with talks about things we're afraid of happening, so I'll talk about some things I'm excited for: Allomancy in live action. Especially steelpushing and ironpulling, that will be really cool if done well. Brandon's talked about using blue lines for other types of allomancy, as a way to adapt it better for a visual medium, and I think that could be really cool. Atium would also translate really well to live action I think. Live action inquisitors. They were awesome villains when in book form. In live action, they could be even more awesome. Assuming Mistborn does well, an SA TV show could be really cool as well. Lashings and Stormlight in live action? Bridge runs? Soulcasting? chasmfiends? Assuming Brandon gets a big budget (which it sounds like he's getting) then all that stuff could be very cool.
  7. I mean, there (fortunately) aren't too many other possible relationships that could be hollywooded. (Except Vin and Zane please Brandon don't do that I cannot express in words how awful that would be).
  8. I'm fine with that. Only having that happen after Vin and Elend are married would be even better. I would complain if characters are thrown into relationships not in the books for little reason (Like, say, if the Stormlight show has Shallan and Kabsal in a sexual relationship).
  9. Okay, I do agree with you in hoping the adaptation is clean. A big part of why I stopped watching the Wheel of Time adaptation partway through the first season is the added sexual content. (Wheel of Time show spoilers) And unfortunately, I feel like that sort of thing is the most likely kind of change that will ruin an adaptation for me, considering Brandon is writing the screenplay. I don't think he'll change the story in terrible ways, although he has been open about some of the things he would change specifically due to the medium, and also Atium because the Electrum-Atium thing is weird. But I do think he might add sexual content, or at least allow it to be added. Death of the Author (I don't like taking this idea to extremes, but in this case the concept definitely applies). WoB's can provide useful insight into Brandon's thoughts on a subject, especially for magic systems, but he can't say something is in the books when it's not, ergo his thoughts are not necessarily canon. Even in that WoB, he specifies that he wanted to leave it up to the reader, which is why it was only sort of implied that Vin and Elend were sleeping together before their marriage.
  10. I don’t see adapting Mistborn into a movie as him hating the books. It’s a new medium for the story, one that can do things books can’t, and can’t do things that books can.
  11. “I suppose. But I am curious what manner of threats this place gives protection against.”
  12. I think it’s possible that Nightblood has grown stronger, able to maintain a connection even without contact where he wasn’t to before.
  13. The drone spun around, scanning other features of the clearing. With a staticy crackle, a voice spoke from the drone. “This is a place of refuge, I see.” The drone turned back to the woman. “What did you flee from in coming here?”
  14. The drone from the ship flew over to her. A red light shot out from it, moving up and down as if scanning the woman.
  15. "I was planning," muttered Unintelligible, "to shoot a hole in the fabric of reality that would allow us to escape you." He shot a brief glance at the Wizard, wondering why the aged man hadn't helped. Then he shook his head and turned to Aelinor. "Shall we be on with it?" @Sequence Lyric frowned. "Surely I would be able to tell. Their followers would bear signs if foul magics had been used upon them, as that one did." He brushed aside a branch, entering the forest. "It is just... I did not even remember the strangeness around the visitor who told me of this place until after we saw those husks." He rested a hand against the trunk of an oak tree, green eyes distant. "It is a problem I often have, although I cannot fathom why. I do not truly forget. But my memories do... fade. Perhaps it is some ailment of the forest I guarded, as it never happened to me before." Someone grumbled something about being left out of the time travel being forbidden discussion.
  16. As Kimaya Rune continued her performance, a man entered the room. There was nothing remarkable about him. He was short, bald, and rather portly. He watched her with an odd air. Unlike the rest of the gathered people, he did not seem awed by the magic show. Instead, he watched Kimaya closely, and held a clipboard and pen as if to take notes. "You'll get neither." Unintelligible reached to his side with one hand, drawing a revolver and awkwardly levelling it at Rebus. "This pistol was made for me by the Dreamsmith. It draws strength from my innate Ookla abilities. the more personally invested in an action I am, the more power it is capable of drawing forth." He cocked the pistol. "Do you want to guess how important this is to me?" Malevolence vanished as well, to evaluate the newcomer of his choice. "Well, I should have known something was strange about the traveler who told me of this place. He was incoherent when I found him, collapsed of dehydration it seemed." Lyric grimaced. "Now, it seems clear that more sinister forces were at play." With a nervous glance back at the mall, he set off across the ruined parking lot and towards the nearby forest.
  17. Yeah, although hopefully I would’ve been smart enough to include something like “shield us from the Everstorm” in the agreement. It’s just… actually the best decision for your country. By the metrics of nations, agreeing is the best decision. Maybe even the moral decision. You can A: doom your kingdom to poverty, and an eventual but inevitable fall to Odium in the distant future, when he tricks your descendants into attacking out of desperation or B: negotiate a good deal, lead your kingdom to prosperity while facing a minimum of hardship due to the war, since your citizens are exempt from drafts or pressure to join up. Sure, you’re still supporting a war against the Cosmere that’s morally iffy at best, but if the other option is suffering and eventual dominion under Odium, I’ll shoulder that burden.
  18. “Are you looking for Rebus?” The spider asked in a perplexed tone. It grabbed one of the insects from earlier, spinning a misty cocoon around it. It didn’t see to notice that the insect immediately flew away, mist being an inadequate restraint. “It seems you are incapable of speech. Let me see if I can read your intentions, instead.” The spider ceased spinning a cocoon and adopted a look of concentration.
  19. Omen watched this in consternation. How was he supposed to create a trial for someone so… erratic? Perhaps he could call Meat the Minstrel back in. As Omen considered, he shrunk down into the form of a pure-white spider, sitting atop a web of mist that hung over the entrance to the cave. ”Er, are you… seeking the Dreamsmith?” The spider asked.
  20. Omen appeared at the cave’s mouth. He did not take the form of mist, this time, but of shadow. He was a shifting mass of darkness some twenty feet tall, with vague features.“Who sent you to this place?” Omen asked, dark fangs flashing as his mouth moved. “I thought I made it clear that those who seek the Dreamsmith are supposed to find me by intent, not by asking around. Did I put up with that ridiculous brave adventurer for nothing?”
  21. Here’s some WoB’s on the topic: It seems that hemalurgy would not transfer. I would assume Kelsier still has the proper SDNA, and would likely be able to pass it on if he can have children. Actually, considering how invested he is with Preservation’s power, Kelsier’s children might have similar effects to the children of Heralds, being more suited for the powers.
  22. Unintelligible took a step towards Rebus. Just one. "You." He growled. "Are a terrible person. Once I've buried Sequence, I will fight you to my last breath, just like you want. But now, here, I am in no shape to fight. You want conflict, engagement. I am in no state of mind to provide either. Neither is Aelinor. So what will antagonizing us here accomplish?" -- "I lean towards a less established plotline." Malevolence mused. "These newcomers seem a good prospect. But I would like to know more about them before committing." He stood from his chair, and suddenly his appearance changed. Where once had stood a villainous-looking man with violet eyes, blond hair, a dark labcoat, and a black axe, now there stood a short, balding man wearing thick glasses over his grey eyes, and a rather worn suit. "Shall we welcome them to the Thread?" -- The Sage indeed looked very much both kinds of mad, as he attempted to stand up, only to slip on the oil and fall on his backside. Despite his anger, however, neither the Sage nor his minions left the mall. Lyric hung his hammer back at his side, breathing out heavily. "Well, my friend. I am sorry to have lead you astray." He looked at the sun, which now hung low in the sky. "I would sleep better if we put a few miles between ourselves and this place before nightfall. Shall we go?" Malevolence glanced down at his drone, which was giving real-time updates due to the quantum linkage system he'd developed. Excellent. He thought to himself. Most excellent indeed.
  23. The woman pulled her hood back, revealing her face. "What can you sense?"
  24. A drone flew into the hatch and docked inside. -- Someone approached Agony, a cloaked, feminine figure. Her pain was great, although dulled by time's passing. @SpiritOfWrath
  25. People normally have 1 Narrator, and other characters. I wouldn't say they're side characters, though. I would say that Unintelligible and Malevolence (non Narrators) are more main characters than my Narrator Subversion right now.
