  1. You were wary at first, the Nightwatcher is a very capricious spren after all. She must've twisted your words somehow. There were moments you were very scared, afraid that you'll simply die in transit, in space. But it did not come to pass. You thought you might simply be stranded on Enceladus, but it did not come to pass. She provided you with a ship, instruments and knowledge to do what you came to do, with no caviats that you could find. So you wondered, on Enceladus, watching a different sky, marvelling at the beauty of the universe. This boon, you thought, is worth any curse. You wonder wryly, while on your way back to Earth if you'll never reach Earth. Such would be well within the Nightwatcher's mocking nature. Perhaps you'll die, without ever making it back. Safe passage back was not part of the wish, after all, not technically. Or if you'll become a homage to Tantalus, with space twisting around you so that you never reach the planet you call home. Stuck, with the Earth in sight but out of reach. You shiver at the very thought. Perhaps, aliens will attack your ship, or maybe aliens had attacked and conquered Earth while you were away. Or, a part of your mind whispered, maybe you'll find that Earth is just gone, vanished. You heaved with relief at the sight of the blue marble. You landed safely. You look around the empty patch of land that you had picked for landing. You could not believe it, where is the trickery? The curse to go along with the boon? The shuttle doors opened with a pneumatic hiss. You smiled. Then the spaceship exploded. Nightwatcher! You cursed. Wait, how are you still alive, not even scratched? Was that explosion meant to kill you? You huffed, the stupid spren had missed. Whatever, you've got science-y stories to tell! It didn't matter to you that you might have a long way to walk before you manage to find civilization. Journey before destination, you smirked. Was that the best the Nightwatcher could do? Take back the ship and with it the devices where you had recorded your findings. It was sad though, all that work, all that knowledge just lost at her whim. You thought back to your time on that alien world, gazing up at the sky, the stars, at Saturn. Then with absolutely no surprise, you realized that you could not understand the measurements you had taken or the experiments you had conducted. The knowledge she had given you was just... gone. You stopped, enraged but unsurprised. Foolish Nightwatcher! You suddenly broke into laughter. That was it, she took back what she gave. I don't mind, you thought, I only wanted to see, to experience, to have that unique perspective. Knowledge was, although objectively the better reason to go, but for you personally? To see mighty Saturn, in person... you had no regrets. You smirked, you had won the game. There, first time Nightwatcher didn't screw someone over. I wish for dandelion fluffs.
  2. Welcome to the Shard! Elantris is a good entry point into the shared universe created by Sanderson. It is, however, not a great entry point into Sanderson's body of work. It's not bad but his style has evolved a lot since then, in my opinion, for the better. If the book turns out to be not for you, don't let it stop you from reading his other works!
  3. *sighs* granted, it appears above you, spewing balefire, you go bye-bye. I wish for the power of (controlled) retrocognition or postcognition
  4. Guys, stop. Enough with the balefire already! As it turns out, Nightwatcher knew someone would wish for her death or the equivalent. So she had a mini perpendicularity prepared. She had, in fact, dodged the balefire entirely. Petitioners once again flock to her. Go forth! Make a wish!
  5. That looks so cool! Well done! The Rosharan system looks really crowded though and umm... very bright and colorful. Its not the Sanbox's fault though, ten gas giants is too many!
  6. *Never* existed? Okay, if there was no Moash in Bridge 4: Kaladin did not have to go through the the very difficult decision between vengeance and honor, to kill Elhokar or to save him that he had to do in Book 2 during an already very difficult period of his life. Without Moash's actions though, Kaladin might've never regained his bond with Syl. Without which a lot of people might end up dead, including Kaladin himself as well as the Kholin family (minus Jasnah). Even a delay in rebonding and swearing the third Ideal could be disastrous. The plot needs Moash, even if the readers might prefer him to have never existed. Be careful what you wish for
  7. Couldn't a mod see this, comment and then lock down this thread? Couldn't the OP? Such an easy win... but for the rest of us plebes...
  8. Granted, I make that wish and lo! You are now back to... I think this forum is meant to be PG, so let's just say, the other Moash hashtag camp. Your bane is that you are transported to Roshar in the Way of Kings timeline. Only for a little while though! I'm not cruel. You are part of Bridge Four. Kaladin watches as you die. It's painful. It also causes great pain to Kaladin. With your last breath you watch as Kaladin withdraws into himself even more. All because of you. I am totally cruel Since I already made my wish for you, next person can just make their own wish without having to worry about how to make a creative curse to go along with the preceding boon, enjoy!
  9. Yelp, haven't read WoT. Hmm, assuming it happened on Roshar, Moash's soul would be in the Cognitive Realm for a while before moving on to the Beyond. I wish that the next wisher joins the camp of #Moashdidnothingwrong... and then wishes for Moash's Cognitive self to rejoin with his physical body (like what happened to Szeth) bringing him back to life
  10. Ooh! Spicy! Imma bring some popcorn along for that!
  11. Something like that could work, perfect gemstones can entrap spren and unmade...
  12. Is that why you did it again? Your wish has been granted. You are going to get something that almost everyone has imagined for themselves at least once, especially fantasy readers. You are transported into another world! Except, its completely empty, barren, devoid of light or life or land. You swim, keep yourself afloat. You're scared, you don't know where you are, how you got here, how to go back, if you even can go back. And it's so very dark, with only pitch black water around you. How long could you swim? Well, no classes in your new world. Also you got bigger things to worry about. So sorry @AonEne, I keep locking you in other dimensions! Here, I think I've got the hang of this and this next one practically assures my victory... I wish that the next person to comment becomes Moash's girlfriend/boyfriend/significant other. And no, this act does not cause Moash to spontaneously drop dead (nor for that matter, to slowly drop dead)
  13. You left yourself sooo wide open. I saw @hoiditthroughthegrapevine's response (excellent work!) in the middle of typing this and had to edit but just couldn't stop myself. Thanks for the heads up, btw. Your wish is granted, the glass forms around you in a sphere. No sharp edges to cut you. And then it shrinks, and you along with it. A nice little replica of some monument forms inside the hollow sphere behind you as fake snow forms and collects around you. You beat your hands against the glass futilely. The Nightwatcher smiles and picks up her new snow globe. Granted, the control is shunted to your autonomous nervous system. You cannot consciously control it. Your skin morphs, changing patterns: zebra, polka, hot pink, translucent. Nightwatcher gives you a little EXTRA: why create the pattern of an eye on your eyelids when you can simply form new eyes? Eyes sprout elsewhere on your body, outside and inside, with special light emitters to let you see your innards better. You can smell everything, all the vile things of the world and hear everything, always, like a buzz that's always there: every whisper, flick of a leaf, the wind, heartbeats, breathing, the sound of bones and tendons involved in a person's movement. You cannot stop your senses. Even your brain is modified, you no longer need sleep, you no longer can sleep! See, no need for those camouflaged eyelids at all! I want a single drop of water to drip gently on my nail. That's it. It is pure water, without caustic acid or poison. It is not time-frozen so that it just goes through my finger either.
  14. @Knight General, Welcome!
  15. there, have a Rep Welcome to the Shard, @Cosmerefan26!
  16. @Wander89 Sarene was the one who clicked for me, then Raoden, by the time Hrathen clicked I was getting an ominous feeling. @fadiay08 who's your favourite character in Mistborn so far?
  17. Welcome to the Shard, @JoeyMcFlow! Surgebinding is pretty awesome, which Order is your favourite?
  18. Welcome to the Shard, @fadiay08 This is the first time I've heard of someone whose introduction to the Cosmere was through Elantris (though, it was Sanderson's first published novel) How has the jump from the logical world of Elantris, to the grimdark ashen world of Scadrial been treating you?
  19. Maybe it could be something akin to death perception. As in, foresight of how or when a subject will (or is most likely to) die Or detect cause of death of an already deceased body
  20. Granted, they don't In exchange, every other knowledge is removed from your brain. You no longer comprehend language or have basic motor skills Can I get another wish? I already granted someone else's wish and asked for one myself. But since I'm granting another wish, I can make another wish again, right? I want some free stuff: free internet (no banned sites, unlimited data), free food (according to my taste and no poison, please) free clothing (fashionable but not too avant-garde), free mansions (yes, plural and no monsters or deathtraps inside)
  21. This is assuming that the bubble only covers their head: Granted, but the air permeable bubble only lets in air and creates a zone of exclusion for everything else, including biological matter, decapitating or mutilating whoever you create that bubble for This is assuming the bubble covers their entire body: granted, but the dismiss mechanism actually utilizes a touch-based system located on the outside of the bubble. Meaning, if you use the bubble on yourself, the mechanism for switching it off will be outside of the bubble and since only you can switch it off, you will be forced to spend the rest of your days in complete silence Alternatively, the bubble stops sound but magnifies light to the point that it instantly fries whoever's inside it. Now for my wish: I want the ability to grant wishes (if that breaks the game/ too meta/ is not permissible) then: I want to be able to pass on my wish to someone else of my choosing without any accompanying curse component or anything else making the wish ironic.
  22. Dear god, I'd been wondering how people would've been writing that script for ages! Ooh! That typeface lools like the logo of some software company or governmental organisation. Isn't that the Tineye symbol? Era 3 is supposed to feature a computer programmer and metalborn SWAT team chasing a Mistborn murderer
  23. Wow, too many secret societies on Roshar! Would the Sons of Honor or the Ghostbloods not attempt anything similar as well? Wouldn't the Skybreakers be watching out for this? Nooo! I want Adolin & Navani to be relatively mundane. Make Jasnah do it, I'm sure she can do it. If anyone could handle double Bonds and double Ideals, it would be her
  24. During the False Desolation, Ba-Ado-Mishram somehow bonded to the Parshendi and granted them access to Voidlight. Melishi, the only Bondsmith of that time stopped them somehow, with unintended consequences, like turning them into Parshmen and hurting the Sibling (though it is noted it was already "changing" from one of the gems retrieved from the gem library in Urithiru). It is suspected that he used the Sibling in some manner to imprison Ba-Ado-Mishram
