  1. It actually fits quite well with the role of the ancient Knights Radiant of Urithiru (and what the modern Radiants are trying to do) mediating between kingdoms and preparing a united, cohesive front between and during the Desolations.
  2. Was any silverware mentioned in Mistborn: Secret History?
  3. I'm actually not so sure about that. It seems Brandon didn't have a word or phrase in mind for 'back of the hand' and simply chose to go with 'palm' but I could be wrong In some sentences, he just uses 'palm' but in longer descriptions it seems like the crystal is placed at the back of the hand, behind the palm. Err, could also be a continuity error
  4. Interesting. I wonder what it would mean if we take Aether as a canonical work. Would Silver work against other Cognitive Shadows? Kelsier probably would have noticed something if that were the case
  5. Oh, okay, yes The Investiture would have always been keyed towards a certain flavour, which would indicate which Shard it would get assigned to post-Shattering. Before that, it would all belong to Adonalsium, Intents being aspects of his personality. The WoB you posted isn't contrary to what I said at all.
  6. @Aragorn the Wyrmspeaker, do you plan to use this idea for a Cosmere RPG? A new world running with/inspired by it?
  7. @Truthwatch3r, who's your least favourite character?
  8. Hello there, @Aragorn the Wyrmspeaker! Welcome to the Shard! As @Mushroom Catalog & @GoWibblepointed out, it looks like you accidentally double-posted this actually you probably should move this to Creator's Corner like @Karger suggested, or perhaps the RP forums. You'll get a wider audience there. I can ask for it to be moved, if you'd like me to
  9. Um, we don't have any indicators of frequency here. Only a comparative analysis of what kind of Avatars can be found more often, if we're reading the WoBs right
  10. Limited? Well, only in the sense that the amount of Investiture in the Cosmere itself is limited. And the amount that isn't directly being held by Shards is probably a significant percentage of that. Not that we have any measurements or even estimates at this point. I'm not sure I want the Cosmere to veer into number-crunching LitRPG style. Actually, now that I think about it, I'm absolutely sure that I most definitely don't want that to happen. I am still interested in having a basic unit of Investiture though, which we will get eventually, according to Brandon
  11. Of whom we have a single mention? I'm not going to be speculating about that one yet Why? Do you have any theories in mind regarding her?
  12. Regularly? We don't know enough about Avatars yet to make statements like that Also, I didn't say Adonalsium assigned the Investiture's Intent, I said post-Shattering. As we understand so far, it seems Shardic Intent only came about after Adonalsium's death
  13. The idea is regarding The Stormfather's nature as a part of Honor's Investiture that was created by Adonalsium but altered by Honor and merged with its Vessel's Cognitive Shadow. That rather muddles up his nature but he fits closer to the WoBs' description of Avatars quite well as Pagerunner noted As for Trell, no idea! Maybe after The Lost Metal or more likely the next era books
  14. I am not sure what to call things that exist in the CR. The entire place is wonky. Close enough. And definitely more than just mere appearance I wouldn't call Stormlight a gas either, but that's the closest analogue for describing it. Solid, liquid, gas, plasma: these are states of matter and in the Cosmere, there's energy, matter & Investiture across three planes of existence
  15. Investiture naturally tends to gain sentience https://wob.coppermind.net/adv_search/?query=Investiture%2Bsentience plus one can become a Vessel for them
  16. Not necessarily, just check my second para from the post you quoted
  17. No? So? Brandon describes it as such:
  18. I think Stormlight is gaseous Investiture, as for plasma
  19. Currently released short stories & novellas include: 1) set on Sel, the world of Elantris The Emperor's Soul The Hope of Elantris 2) set on Scadrial, the world of Mistborn The Eleventh Metal Allomancer Jak Mistborn: Secret History 3) set on Roshar, the world of Stormlight Edgedancer 4) set on a new world, Threnody Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell 5) set on a new world, First of the Sun Sixth of the Dusk 6) set on Taldain, the world where the writer of the Arcanum hails from White Sand (graphic novels vol 1-3)
  20. Hello & welcome to the Shard! Any Cosmere books still left for you to read? What's your favourite Cosmere book?
  21. My theory is that the difference between a Splinter and an Avatar is basically whether the Shard directed a part of their own Investiture or Investiture from the time of Adonalsium that got assigned to them post-Shattering. And that's why I rather like the idea of The Stormfather being or closer to being an Avatar than a Splinter
  22. Yeah, I know. It's an old post, and I've changed my mind regarding what Avatars might be Basically, I think that Splinters are formed directly by a Shard whereas an Avatar is formed from the Investiture from Adonalsium that got assigned to a Shard post-Shattering
  23. I didn't really think much about Sliver Avatars despite the WoBs on them... (these ones: I did, however, have a theory on the difference between a Splinter & an Avatar. The analysis of Patji's letter is really intriguing, I didn't really notice the use of proper names there beyond going "oh Patji knows Hoid"... I don't know if I can get behind the idea that the term Avatar fits The Stormfather yet. Well, the most interesting entity for this kind of analysis for me is still the Mist Spirit. I've been wondering on the nature of the Purelake, specifically since seeing this topic: wondering on which brought me on board the Purelake is not just a place of weird spren bonds (instead of all the other topics on Purelake as a Perpendicularity) and the weird fact that the waters of the Purelake drain during a Highstorm. I'm not fully convinced, maybe its waters could have diluted liquid Investiture or something, perhaps a proto-Perpendicularity or something like that? I'm fully onboard the Austre is one of Autonomy's, that just sounds like something Autonomy would do
