Hoid is not a member of the 17th Shard, and is, in fact, being hunted by them, apparently under Frost the Dragon's instructions. Mraize's master (Iyatil) is a member of the Ghostbloods, not 17th Shard. Demoux (from Mistborn), Galladon (from Elantris) and Baon (from White Sand) are members of the 17th Shard whom we saw in the Purelake interlude in Way of Kings, as is Demoux's wife Aslydin, possibly the Terriswoman nurse we saw in Warbreaker. Yes, they support non-intervention but we don't know much more about them than that.

Welcome to the Shard! Happy to have more hardcore theorizers!

He just spent a thousand years imprisoned while possessed by the power of entropy, and then tried to destroy the planet he himself created. He just wanted peace after all that. We have a quote from Hoid that said Ati was a gentle man, so all this must've taken a toll on him, that gentleness might've been what made it easier for the Intent of the Shard to overpower his mind, who knows? What could he say to the people whose entire planet he just tried to extinguish while possessed (sort of)? He was tired.

I always imagined Elantris looking more Baroque crossed with Disney but covered in Lovecraftian amount of slime. Dark Souls architecture is great, and fit quite well for how I imagine abandoned cities in literature in general, not just Elantris; particularly locations like Anor Londo, Lothric or Eleum Loyce.

That's... plausible. Storms, that's quite plausible. Hmm... but I think her hidden backstory is probably Shallan accidentally unleashing or attracting an Unmade (Dai-Gonarthis) towards her household.

If you scroll up, there are off-topic discussions regarding other characters or other authors. I fail to see why you're so pissed off when that rebuke wasn't aimed at you, and the people it was aimed at did not take offense or so I assume since I interacted with them elsewhere after this thread. Off topic is anything that isn't on topic, obviously. If it isn't about Moash's actions in the books and how he is perceived by the community then it's off-topic. This thread is not for conversations (nor is any other thread, really), of course I don't mind if a conversation evolves naturally, it happens but that conversation has run its course and if the people feel like continuing their conversation then it belongs in PMs or any thread(s) about the same subject that they were talking about, this is basic forum etiquette.

Why is overrepresentation such a big fear here? What books are you all reading exactly? Whatever it is they already have more rep than whatever I'm reading...

Welcome to the Shard! Absolutely agree with your favourites!

Well, since Kaladin's father already got his own PoV this book in which we see a distance grow between them and it looks like Kaladin's issues are finally getting to him, it's possible that this particular plot point could tie these two things together and potentially help resolve them, with Kaladin getting closer to his family and helping provide him with some emotional stability.

Different magic systems can be powered by different magic fuels, we've gotten multiple confirmations of that from Brandon, like here: so yeah using Honor's Investiture instead of Preservation's to fuel Allomancy should still be possible, though they'd need to figure out a way to filter the power through metals. I think this would be easier with mechanical Allomancy, like with Southern Scadrian technology: that the Shard often refers to using the term "medallions". No need to tinker with sDNA that way (as one's sDNA gives one access to a magic system) Converting one form of Investiture to another is also possible and accessing a different magic system or using a different form of Investiture to fuel the system you have access to should be easier via conversion: Brandon's talked about something akin to "Spiritual pathways" before, Investiture tends to flow a certain way in certain Shardworlds, and the interaction of these natural paths with a Shard gives rise to magic. I don't think a new crossover magic system would come out of using either of these two methods. As for Nahel Bond capable spren, they are not relevant to Allomancy. Allomantic power is Preservation's Investiture filtered via a person's Spiritweb and the metal being burned, with the latter being the coding deciding how the Investiture is used: iron pulls, steel pushes and so on. Nahel Bond spren grant Nahel Bonds. Those are two entirely different things. So I think what would happen if you tried to use spren this way, is that it would simply not work, you could perhaps turn them into raw Honor or Cultivation or mixed Investiture that way but power neither Allomancy nor Surgebinding. The Nahel Bond seems to be essential to Surgebinding (via higher spren, no idea how it works with the Honorblades or back on Ashyn with the Dawnshards) plus this method of forced initiation into Surgebinding without any Oaths would also probably go against Honor's Intent. Besides, the Surges are fundamental forces on Roshar, you'd probably also need Connection to Roshar.

Of the graphic novel, since the prose is not commercially distributed in printed format. I assume that he thought, and reasonably so, that you were talking about the graphic novels since you posted this topic in the White Sand graphic novel forum and mentioned volumes 2 & 3, the prose is a single piece of work and is currently not divided into volumes.

Nightblood talked about Vasher, Vivenna and Shashara, Szeth assumed the last one was another name for Shalash, but given that Shalash is also at Urithiru, it's possible it's been confirmed that Shalash is not Shashara. Nightblood's power was witnessed by not just Odium's forces and the Skybreakers, but Lift as well, and Szeth himself likely told everything to the Coalition, but even if Szeth for some reason hadn't divulged it, Lift probably did. Vivenna never revealed her true name, but it's slightly more easier to connect Vivenna and Azure, as she did tell the group that she was hunting a criminal and a... criminal sword. The swordmaster thing she mentions to Adolin and Kaladin might cause them to wonder about Zahel...

White Sand prose contains the whole story spread out over White Sand graphic novel vols 1-3 (though vol 3 ending was changed and extended a bit). When Brandon talks about White Sand prose in 3 volumes, he was talking about his future plans, but this was a long time ago and those plans have changed now. There was a book named Lord Mastrell but it was the vol 2 of White Sand prime, where the vol 1 contained the story till Kenton became the Mastrell, and vol 2 followed his tenure, basically it was the same plot stretched out over 3 volumes (the third was never finished, I think) in the same way the graphic novels of White Sand were. Brandon does not distribute White Sand Prime. We will get a sequel to the White Sand graphic novels, which will be set in Darkside but we don't know if there will be a prose version of that.

I wouldn't mind it too much actually. I read loads of webnovels after all, I'm used to waiting for the next chapter. -
