Fullborn V.S. 5th Ideal Windrunners
Frustration replied to Wits instant noodles's topic in Cosmere Discussion
He can only fit so many metalminds on him, and compounding can only get you so much in a certain amount of time. But the Spren will, and can increase their length. You forget that drawing more of an attribute out than you put in has diminishing returns, you will eventually reach a point after which drawing more of an attribute out will no longer increase your total amount. An arm won't stop them, at most it would break some plate, and knock them around, but they won't stop. And Fullborn don't heal any better than Radiants do, but plate gives them durability a Fullborn will never be able to match. There wouldn't be a sonic boom, as they would be flying in a vacuum. It doesn't say anything about removing diminishing returns What does that get you? Windrunners can potentially see into the CR, (WoR 470, I do not have the chapter, I'll try and find it in a second), and the Shardblade can still cut you. Muhahaha my plan is working- 456 replies

That's also subject to both diminishing returns, and a time limit, so while they could totally get to Lerasium levels, they won't get to TLR levels. It might make it faster, but it doesn't take any caps off.- 456 replies

Agreed, I'd say Fullborn has 80-95/100 win rate, but they are not near so powerful as they are often portrayed as.- 456 replies

I've always said Hoid in the past, but on reexamination, I realized that while he does some really cool stuff, he himself is not that cool. So, Szeth.

He can only replenish attributes so fast. No he can't. Steel has hard caps on how fast it can go, Gravitation does not But it didn't create the crack, nor did it shatter that section. But can a Fullborn reasonably generate that much force? That would kill them too then. Or maybe even just the fullborn as plate wil cusion the blow.- 456 replies

I think a Fullborn is better off staying away from anything fancy, and just using F-Nicrosil or A-Suralumin to strengthen their steel, and then shooting iron spheres that they filled with weight at the Windrunner in rapid sucession.- 456 replies

Only if they can touch it Unless he's going faster than sound I don't think we've ever seen anything go through plate and hit the person underneath in the same attack. He's not an idiot I don't do things my friends want becuase I'm worried about little pranks like water bottles or whipped cream, not dying Being a squire is different from being a Radiant, it's an entirely different kind of Connection- 456 replies

As @alder24 said a Savant could do it, however you can also use mental training to do it as well, but that seems to be much harder

Living plate is not. They only have so much Connection, they won't be able to make you feel like they're your best friend for long. And if he's in the air higher than you can go? There are multiple types of Connection, "Seeing them as enemies" is one, which is one of the ones Ishar tried to steal from Dalinar(and also why being friends wouldn't work) others are bonds, place of birth etc. You can make them feel more familiar to you, but you can't form the neccesary Connections to become a Radiant, because you don't have those. Forgers can create Connections, not just strengthen them.- 456 replies

Well, we happen to have a Nickel-Silver allloy that may just have effects on Fabrials Whenever he's ased about allomantic metals he always refers to there being sixteen of them, Shardmetals are outside the standard boundaries.

That's still around 400 mph, and I highly doubt that is their max speed. I can't see a Windrunner not having windspren follow them as they fly until they at minimun reach the speed of sound, and even than I would find it weird. Human reaction speed is around 0.25 seconds(without stormlight benefits), and in order to be outside of coin range from a flying individual the Windrunner would have to be at least 100 feet in the air. That would require the rock to move at 1,440,000 mph, at a bare minimum. That's not possible, not even close. That would let you form friendships faster, but it doesn't wipe their memory. They still know you have to die, so unless you really poured, outrageous amounts of Connection into it, and managed to hold it the entire time(Which you would not be able to do) that wouldn't work. Where are you going to get Stormlight from? You would need their Identity, so that won't work. That requires you to be able to make Connections, not just form them faster.- 456 replies

Frustration replied to Wits instant noodles's topic in Cosmere Discussion
What limits do Spren have for speed? Spren don't use energy so that's not a limit, the routinely go several hundred mph, so that's not it. I was saying he can still create a vacuum, IF that is a requirement, and be outside of the fullborn's reach. Radiants holding stormlight don't want to breathe as that makes them lose stormlight, so they aren't losing any resources, but the Fullborn is forced to expend both gold and Cadmium, or a lot of gold, both to deal with the lack of oxygen, and the lack of pressure. So the Radiant loses nothing in the exchange, but weakens their opponent quite a bit.- 456 replies

Silver has uses throughout the cosmere, but not in allomancy.
-
I wasn't just referring to silver, there are more than 10 metals and their alloys that work, meaning there are over 20, compared to Allomancy's 16.

That is true and I completely agree. I was only saying that multiple times the speed of sound wasn't possible, for any useful amount of time. Windspren are faster. He split the storm at the end of RoW in a massive collum. Even if he did have to be inside (which I doubt) he can still do it.- 456 replies

Marasi almost completely drained the bands of speed after only moving at slightly faster than sound for a few seconds. The Windspren can make a vacuum around him while the Windrunner themselves flew out of reach above him, without a way to get more cadmium, he will eventually suffocate.- 456 replies

There's only one of each legendary, so how do they have biological ancestors?

They made a paradox form for Suicune and Virizion

That's true, but that's still a way to give people allomancy. And Lerasium exists to give it to them permenently, while also increasing the general amount of allomancy in the population.

Fullborn V.S. 5th Ideal Windrunners
Frustration replied to Wits instant noodles's topic in Cosmere Discussion
We call them Fullborn. And I'm probably going to have to go with the Windrunner, but it's going to be close. They can fly higher than a fullborn can reach, and then escape away in case things go bad for them. Fullborn, while ludicrously strong, can't go anywhere that Windrunners can't follow, and lack a way to instantly kill them.- 456 replies
