  1. So While yes their peak was likely after Aharietarm during the desolations they likely still had mid to low hundreds in each order, and close to 600-800 for some of the larger orders.
  2. welcome to the shard.
  3. So, Identity is what separates souls, it's the thing in the SR that says, this soul is so and so. It's effectivly a skin for your soul, everything inside is you, everythong outside is not. The reason investiture is keyed to an Identity is because it's part of someone's soul. Ideas/art etc wouldn't be part of someone's identity, the only way I can think of that working is some mechanical overwriting of the Identity of the object, but that allows anyone to do it. I think the easiest, and most realistic outcome would be for their copyright laws to match our own.

Shallan’s father gave her a necklace made of aluminum. She later used that same necklace to strangle him. 1. Does Shallan still have that necklace? 2. Does the fact that the necklace is aluminum mean anything important, investiture-wise?

Could Shallan have successfully strangled her father to death with a different necklace? Perhaps one made out of something other than aluminum?

    Aight answers for you.

Aluminum is not invested, but is immune to investiture itself, so the necklace being made of aluminum would have no effect as it didn't kill Lin Davar, lack of oxygen did, being strangled by an aluminum chain would be no different so someone with investiture than any other material.

The first two are suspect as Brandon has said Shallan's memory about the necklace being aluminum is not to be 100% trusted.

      Questioner

So, I'm intrigued by aluminum, especially the fact that it can only be found by Soulcasting on Roshar. So, how was it discovered in the first place?

      Brandon Sanderson

...Did I say you can only get it through Soulcasting?

      Questioner

In the Shallan flashbacks, she has the pendant.

      Brandon Sanderson

Don't take what she says at 100% truth.

i think that WoB is saying there are other ways to get aluminum/you can't actually get it from soulcasting, not that the necklace itself isn't aluminum

which is true actually, we find out in Oathbringer that aluminum is found on roshar from meteorites.

      Questioner

The meteorite metal that they talk about that blocks Shards, is that aluminum?

      Brandon Sanderson

      Uh, so-- yes.

Footnote: Referencing OB Ch 100, "There are legends of metal that can block a Shardblade. A metal that falls from the sky. Silver, but somehow lighter."
Oathbringer Chicago signing (Nov. 21, 2017)

The WoB you just quoted was from the OB release party, so it makes sense that the questioner would ask that question, they hadn't read the book yet.

      I won't say it's impossible.

  5. I don't think that would be a good idea, as Connection can be weird. Like Spook was more connected to Kelsier than Vin was, but Vin would be more deserving of inheriting anything Kelsier left.
  6. I'll agree tones are more likely to affect gaseous forms of investiture than solids. I'm unsure on liquid forms though.
  7. They're floofy, and adorable, and I love them.
  8. In case you hadn't noticed that only means that you can talk about it outside a designated board, it still needs to be in a spoiler box.
  9. That's litterally the ending of WoK
  10. And sapience.
  11. There are hogs out in the wild of Roshar, probably got a few domesticated.
  12. There is a difference between a spren and a cognitive acspect.
  13. They have an entire city in the CR
  14. As I said not for me to decide, now if I met someone who blew up a planet and had a "Oh crap what have I done?" moment with a legitamate change of heart, I would do my best to forgive them and treat them as I would anyone else. Not really. I don't see one.
  15. That's up to God to decide, not me. Now, I have to judge on that sort of thing every now and again, but I try to be as fair as I can with it, my general rule of thumb is that if you have improved enough to know better, and not repeat the same mistakes then yes. So if he isn't excused, why is it wrong to call him evil?
  16. Only if there is no form of redeption.
  17. Why do you say that?
  18. Taravangian wants more then to save the world, he wants to be the one to do it, he activly avoids giving Dalinar information because he wants to be the hero.
  19. Era 2 is about 10 years after SA 5
  20. Taravangian does whatever it takes to save the world sadeas did whatever it took to save Alethkar I don't see a difference. Elantris
  21. I fail to see a difference between them. Why was he included?
  22. being nuanced but evil is still being evil is it not?
