Ok so I'm posting this here in the hopes that this will eventually reach Brandon.
Ok so yeah I'm Indian from India who was assigned Hindu at birth and well this is going to be a teeny bit charged culturally but it should be ok cause afaik there are only 2 other Indians here on this site and both agree with me.
Ok so this is about a planned future trilogy of books set on one of the Cosmere worlds called:
SpoilerDhatri
This world supposed to be one of the core worlds of the future, possibly secondary only to Roshar, Sel or Scadrial and this world is based on Hindu philosophy , but the problem is Hindu philosophy is welded inexorably to the Caste system.
Now you are not gonna believe the number of Castes and Subcastes here in India. Simply put :
THERE ARE 28000 CASTES AND SUBCASTES HERE IN INDIA!!!I'M NOT JOKING!!!
Even Indian Muslims ,Christians , Sikhs and Buddhists have the Caste system to varying degrees , despite them being nominally based on the Equality of all Men before God or Nirvana ! They have had the Caste system since they were born here or brought to India. That's how pervasive Caste has been historically and it continues to be the case even today .
I'm afraid Brandon will downplay the number of castes on the Indian world and thier pervasiveness and the lack of social mobility inherant to caste by making it similar to : (Stormlight spoilers )
SpoilerDahn and Nahn systems in Vorinism
It:s probably best he does that but well it won't be Indian inspired then , it will just be mediaeval Western Europe but with brown ppl.
I'm torn, on the one hand , I hate the Caste system and how it has stunted India historically. It has literally ruined RUINED the lives of atleast 30 billion ppl over the past 3 millenia and continues to ruin the lives of like 1.3 billion ppl to a large degree even today and will continue to ruin billions more lives for atleast 3 more centuries , maybe even longer.
I'm not using hyperbole, the sins of the Caste system are great enough without exaggeration.
To put it in perspective for y'all Western folks , the Caste system was wayyyyy, wayyyyy worse than the Transatlantic Slave Trade in every metric since it lasted longer , continues even today and has affected billions unlike the relatively paltry millions the slave trade affected.
______
But yeah anyway on the other hand , well Caste also defines India. Caste is as important as Gender or Skin Colour to us. More important actually. Again I'm not joking.
So yeah I'm torn between wanting an accurate representation of Indian culture and the knowledge that it will ruin that world if Brandon translates Indian society exactly.
There are fantasy novels by Indian authors that downplay the Caste system for that very reason, but they focus on Indian gods a lot however so it's still an authentic representation of India.
That won't be the case with the Cosmere
Maybe if the world of Warbreaker was the Indian world it might have worked but I don't think this Cosmere world will.
______
The Caste system ruined us you know. We could have eclipsed China without it . We come relatively close even now with the chains of Caste binding us still.
Without caste, we would have been greater than China as we have better geography , like we are closer to the Arab oil fields and we sit at the centre of a naval trade route which holds 70% of global trade and the entire Indian Ocean is our lake even today.
China on the other hand has to compete with America and even Japan for control of the Pacific.
So yes, without Caste , India might have been equivalent to USA in wealth and power even
_____
I hope Brandon can like capture that...... the Truth about India and Caste.
This isn't even my Athiests dislike of religion anymore you know. Caste has gone way beyond Religion, Transcended it into becoming something sinister and purely Evil . Such has been the case for atleast 2000 yrs.
I hope Brandon has atleast like a minimal Caste system with atleast 500 Castes and a throwaway line on how that world could have rivalled Roshar or Scadrial or Sel ,if it weren't for Caste.
Apparently Brandon has two individuals named Rahul and Kelyani assisting with the world building. I'm afraid however that they might potentially be Caste Apologists who will downplay the vicious oppression of the Caste system historically and in present times.
Ok Das All
Thank you for reading and I'm sorry if this topic made you uncomfortable , but it is the capital T Truth.
Edit : Now I know this might sound silly , afterall it's only a fantasy novel and truth is even if Brandon does make it just western Europe but with brown ppl well most PPL would still praise it and i would be disappointed but I would still read it too . I wouldn't quit the Cosmere over it.
But well there is such a thing as the Truth and I guess that's why I'm arguing for it . I believe Brandon too cares about representating a culture truthfully. The fact that he has shyed away from writing the Aztlanian cause he's afraid of misrepresentating native American cultures proves it.

i personally think it's Aimia in the cognitive realm but u could be right too

It could have been someone from the future, someone new who the Wind contacted after Taravangian's Ascension who is a child right now. There are other options.
woah , deja vu, my friend said the same theory just minutes ago
yeah this could be possible. if so , we have no way of knowing who tho. it could be any child who will grow up to be important in the future .
QuoteTruthfully, the fact that the author said they read about ancient times, not know or remember, precludes anyone living back then from being the author.
again in my original post I mention that Sja-Anat or bam could have lost some of thier thier memories of that time when they were unmade , perhaps even several times over thousands of yrs, by Odium and hence had to read about the Wind talking to both humans and singers to get to know that happened.
QuoteMore like low hundreds at best. Just because she lived that long doesn't mean she cared or took notice of what was happening around Roshar. Living long doesn't qualify you to become a historian.
u speak as if this is somehow not still a great number of yrs . also that's the lowest possible estimate. The highest possible ones are around a millenium.

Because we have her PoV and nothing in there even remotely suggests that she's a philosopher or a historian.
i disagree. i feel we haven't been given enough words about her to make a judgement like that
QuoteYou mean she was slumbering through most of it? Sja-Anat, like most Unmades, was asleep in between Desolations. Living through history and being a historian are two totally different things.RoW I-2
ok but that's still thousands of yrs of history she was awake in
QuoteAn actual philosopher? Again, just because she's lived long enough doesn't mean she acquired skills necessary to become a historian and a philosopher.
well as i said In the original post , the writer must be someone ancient if she heard the Wind talk to her in her childhood since she stopped talking a bit after Odiums arrival and only started talking again after Tara's ascension.
That makes the pool of suspect very small. It isn't Hoid, it isn't the Heralds , maybe some ancient singer or spren could qualify. Maybe the speculated spren of Truth even.
But I feel like my theory that it's Sja Anat or Ba Ado Mishram has more bite u know.

It's interesting, fits well with the first epigraphs, but because of the requirement of being a philosopher and a historian, I highly doubt it can be any of Unmades. Sja-Anat clearly isn't either of them
ok i can understand why you don't consider BAM as philosopher or historian due to her being imprisoned for so long and perhaps not having time for other stuff during the time she was the commander of the Singers, but why not Sja-Anat? i don't think we know enough about her to rule her out. Besides who will be better at being an historian than someone who has actually lived through most of it , some lost memories not withstanding. Also who will be better at being a philosopher than a being that has literally millennia of experience and is of Honor, Cultivation and Odium ?
Hmm come to think of it , maybe Hoid is a good fit too, but I like my initial theory that Sja Anat is the author better. Hoid writing it well it seems too early for that in the timeline and . Oh wait nevermind, Hoid knows about Kal and Szeth's quest to find Ishi'elin in Shinovar. I believe Kal told him that the Wind was speaking to him too. Also I doubt Hoid spent any part of his childhood on Roshar.

I'm neutral on the romantic relationship myself but wouldn't mind it if it happens.

Alright I think that the author of Knights of Wind and Truth is none other than the Unmade Sja-Anat or the Unmade Ba-Ado-Mishram .
My theory is aluminium foil hatty , yes , but i believe I have some light , vague evidence in the epigraphs.
I believe this epigraph is about Sja-Anat's or Ba-Ado-Mishram's childhood, when they came into existence as a newly created spren, either by Adonalsium or by Honor and Cultivation, before Odium Unmade them as one of his own.
I believe this indicates that the Wind stopped talking to PPL soon after Odium arrived on Roshar and did not start to talk again until the Final Ten Days . This rules out Jasnah or the Shin scholar or anyone born in the interim . So the being writing the epigraphs should be vastly older . Older than Odiums arrival on Roshar atleast and they are reasonably intelligent .
And two of the known Unmade fit this criteria .
Yes , the epigraphs refer to them reading that the Wind spoke to both humans and singers , not them actually watching it. But maybe that's cause in the process of becoming Unmade they lost thier memories of then recent events. Not to mention that it's been implied that Odium unmade them multiple times.
We know that Ba-Ado-Mishram was many things. A Commander of the Singer armies for one. Should it surprise us that she regards herself as an historian and philosopher as well. Perhaps she also regards herself as an author of a book
We have also seen that there's more to Sja-Anat than meets the eye. So could it be that she regards herself as an historian and a philosopher and an author. Esp with her philosophy of freeing spren by Enlightening them.As far as we know, neither Sja-Anat nor Ba-Ado-Mishram know about the quest to find Ishi'elin. BAM on account of being locked in a gemstone and Sja-Anat being generally ignorant of it. You might argue that Glys might have told her about the quest but I feel it's unlikely Glys is in active communication with Sja-Anat nor do I feel they are a minion to her.
So yeah that's my crazy theory. It's probably wrong but i think it might just be true. Thanks for reading so far

So like the sun was just rising over the pits of hathsin . That means that the half the Western Dominance and all of the southern and farmost Dominances as well as the southern isles were still in the night . Millions of PPL must have lived there . Did sazed accidentally kill them all while remaking the world. I'm pretty sure it's mentioned somewhere, may e in a wob that only the PPL in the caverns survived.

So yeah , as we know the cognitive realm of sel is choked full of investiture from 2 shards. Now Brandon has said in a wob that if there is too much investiture in an area it can lead to temporal effects like slowed down or accelerated time. I propose that as a result time goes extremely slow on sel. So maybe Elantris 2 should occur around the same time as mistborn era 3 and elantris 3 at the same time as mistborn era 4 .
That's my theory.
Thank you.

Damn it. I came to the same conclusion as you and even posted it lol

Good explanation , you have my upvote but I'm sorry to inform you that others have already come to this conclusion before. Btw full metal Alchemist would also fit very well in the cosmere

So in the ars arcanum of RoW khriss says :
QuoteI think that perhaps Foil, deep within his ocean, would find this information supports my theories over his. And he’d do well to listen to me on this matter if he ever wishes to achieve control over the aethers, as he has insisted is his goal.
And in TotES we learn that xisis lives under the aether sea researching something. Most probably the aethers.
So what are the odds that xisis is foil ?

If anyone can burn pure Atium to get it's allomantic effect , can anyone store youth in Atium too ?

Another possibility is that Elantris 2 will deal with a threat that is related to Autonomy:
So that sounds like Jaddeth is a Trell-style persona for Bavadin and she's found someone to take that name and become her avatar. Which would mean that Elantris 2 would deal with a Lost Metal-type of situation where Autonomy threatens to claim a planet. Maybe Shai, once she's cosmere-aware, notices that the force that threatens Scadrial is the same that once did the same thing to her homeworld.
Loved that wob

A-pewter actually goes really well with F-Gold. You can probably power through the groginess of storing health by burning pewter, and thus have a lot more health reserves. Plus A-Pewter lets you keep fighting despite mortal wounds, making it harder to incapacitate you while you heal. This would also be a great combination for worldhoppers, making yourself very good in a scrap, immune to exhaustion(Tapping Health probably offsets pewter drags), and near impossible to kill. Both metals should also be common, even on low tech worlds, though gold is a bit pricy, you aren't burning it, just keeping it on,(or in) you
Oh yeah a bit of stored up health would be very useful for combating Pewter drag. Ye they synergize very well

For Hazekillers that weapon would be great. But for Mistborn? It's much heavier, bigger, and slower than daggers It would be much harder to carry them around covertly and silently (especially when you add shield), they would restrain movements, and in air fights they would face much stronger air resistance than dagger. Mistborn are not warriors, they don't need shield or heavy weapon, they're assassins relying on speed and mobility. A dagger is fast and mobile. A club with a sharp edges - not much.
And Mistborn only needs to use daggers in fight with other Mistborn, and with anyone else, coins and metal is their main weapon.
I mean they do have Pewter giving them superhuman strength to compensate for the bulkiness of the macahuitl.
And idt that would be so conspicuous. A shield would be tho ye

I'm not convinced we're see the last of her. Remember we know that autonomy is turn some of the set to cognitive shadows including her uncle so we might just see her again in era 3.
Hope so but it didn't seem that autonomy was really interested in telsin . Hope I'm wrong

It did create the universe. That has been said many times. We have no reason to believe that Adonalsium was ever created. All mater and energy was created from investure that has been said multiple times and is why shards exist every where at once.
I still don't see how investure coalescing to be Adonalsium makes him not God?
Also you contradict your self you just said he can't be God because he was created so can't be God (which would still make him a god at least) then you said he wasn't created but formed from coalescing investure? Which is it?
Second option

Not technically god? How? What are you even talking about? I don't see how been sentient investure makes him any less God?
He created the universe and had (and it can be argued still has) authority over it. It that not technically God there your not technically human.
It's not god since it didn't create the universe, it was created then gained sentiance . Matter coalesced to form stars and planets , investiture coalesced to form adonalsium

I mean survivorism is the main religion already. And it was already experiencing a revival or sorts after the discovery of the bands.
With harmonium been so important I suspect that pathism will also continue bestrong.
Sliverisum really depends On marsh and harmony.
As for atheism, If anyone in the cosmere is an atheist it's because they're deluded or just ignorant.
No actually. Shards while godlike are still not actually God. Even adonalsium isn't technically God . For all we know investiture gained sentiance and became adonalsium.

1) The Southern/Basin tension was built up pretty well in the beginning then just kinda fizzled out with the BoM scene that left a cliffhanger we will not see concluded for years.
2) I absolutely loved the Telsin twist in BoM and was really excited about the showdown but it honestly concluded a little underwhelming to me. Harmony interrupts her power or whatever from Autonomy and she lays down and dies.
I was very dissappointed with telsins fate too. I was beginning to like her and relate to her. Wax must have been a pain in the ass when he was younger

Compounding has to go down to steel or gold, bronze is a contender too, but mostly for its feruchemy, as allomantically it has no use for me.
I decided to compound steel, as unless I die to sickness, I can stay alive just as easily with speed while solving my other problems, and steel has better allomantic applications.
For individual powers I took A-pewter, as it's just the best allomantic metal. And F-bronze.
U like a good sleep-wake cycle eh ?

So feruchemical bendalloy stores nutrition. But nutrition can be metals too. Our body requires small amounts of iron , copper , etc to stay alive . So is it possible that someone who's a subsumer ferring can store metals in thier metal minds ?
If so could that be how the lord ruler was so powerful at allomancy, he was constantly drawing duralumin and other metals from his bendalloy metalmind and duralumin bursting them constantly.
The biggest hole in my theory is ofc that tlr didn't have access to bendalloy but maybe he had a little bit of bendalloy created during his ascension and used that bit to craft a metalmind .
Thank you

So good non compounding twinborn combos.
We have crashers ofc. But some others are :
A-chromium and F-steel, to leech someone at superspeed.
A-Electrum and F- zinc , to see your future shadows and to have the mental speed to analyse your future using it. Esp useful in a fight
A-pewter and F-gold , become a Pewter savant without killing yourself , as well as combat Pewter drag and store more health quickly.
A-pewter and F-steel, to beat someone up at superspeed and store more speed quickly.
A-cadmium and F-chromium , to go to the future and be lucky enough to live as an immortal in a post mortality, post scarcity civilization
Let me what others you can think of

The Potential Misrepresentation of India and Caste by Brandon Sanderson

I didn't know about your stormlight spoiler referenced before. About the listeners. Thank you for that info
I also didn't know anyone could apply to be beta reader. I will apply to be one for the future trilogy. Thank you so much for the link .
