The First (or potentially last) Ideal for a Fused
Halyo_Alex replied to TheFoxQR's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Wait, do we know a surge is missing from Fused Surgebinding? Even if the KR had no Bondsmiths, the Stonewards and Windrunners would each have 1 of the 2 "unused" surges there. They wouldn't get the same Resonance, sure, but all 10 surges could still be used with as few as 5 orders, if there was no overlap and each order used 2 surges. Is that the question, then? -
That could be because the spren of the shardblade still retains the part that allows it to cross between realms to it's bonded anchor, despite being a deadeye. So the spren itself has the Investiture for it.
-
But then the question becomes CAN Harmony prevent Trell from doing that? I mean if the red aura we see around the whole world in BoM is any indication, no, he hasn't stopped Trell from doing that...

One of the theories I believe would explain it like this: Mistborn have a Spiritual "enzyme" that can burn any allomantically viable metal, no matter which metal it is. Mistings have a Spiritual enzyme that can only burn one allomantic metal. There are no enzymes that can burn 2 or 4 or whatever, it's either universal or specialized for one metal. So by spiking out that Universal enzyme with hemalurgy (and spiking whatever remains after the Hemalurgic Decay) into the correct spiritual bind-point, the enzyme can still do "the thing" (whatever spiritual mechanisms allow metals to be burned for an effect) with whatever allomantic metal it's bound to. Alternatively, there is one "metal-burning" enzyme, but the PLACEMENT of that enzyme in the spiritweb changes what metal it can burn, so you'd take one from the Mistborn and put it in the right spot for Trellium to be burned. ...Actually, wait. Hemalurgic spikes steal all 4 metals of one category. So there's probably 4 types of enzyme (physical, mental, temporal, enhancement) and then the position dictates which metal it can actually burn for power. So this does leave wiggle room that there would be a "god-metal" enzyme in the spiritweb. I dunno, my brain hurts thinking about all this spiritual mumbo-jumbo.

The reason is that you still need a specific spiritual gene to burn a certain metal. You basically need a lock for the metal to unlock the flow of Preservation's Investiture through, although Atium is the exception as it supplies the effect itself, due to being of Ruin. So the same could apply to Trellium; it would burn away faster but supply the power from itself as the condensed Investiture of Autonomy (or Odium... Whatever Trell is)

Actually Preservation would have wanted Atium to be burned, as it apparently permanently sealed off access to that part of Ruin's Investiture, weakening him in comparison to Preservation. That's why 16% of the people who got sick from the Mists were Atium Mistings.

physics Invested 1.2.1 – A Mistborn Physics Demonstration
Halyo_Alex replied to Artemos's topic in Mistborn
Awesome! The F-Zinc bullet time really feels like it was implemented well! Are there going to be other Feruchemical "peripherals" so to speak, like Iron for weight or Steel for speed? I'd love to be able to store weight and then just allomantically trebuchet myself into the sky, for example. And then tap that weight later to Push away a particularly heavy obstacle without needing an anchor to rest against. As for steel, I think it could be interesting to implement it as a sort of "boost" mechanic, where it gives you a short burst of regular movement speed when rolling around (at the speed of sound ), sort of like the Boost Ball from Metroid Prime. Of course, it'd still be cool if it was a general-purpose "speed-up" for the sphere in all manners, but I feel like if it functioned like a dash mechanic it would be more apt for evasion. -
Why not? Show me some evidence, so that we're not just telling each other "you're wrong" back and forth forever.

Okay fair enough, I didn't recall that, lol. Thanks for grabbing that for clarification.

Burning Trellium as an Allomantic metal, like Atium or the other base 16 metals.

Well then why can Trellium do Hemalurgy? Wouldn't ruin have to "consent" to having another shard's metal do something in HIS magic system?

That's why the set is kidnapping people of strong allomantic heritage to try and "breed a Mistborn" according to era 2. They want to be able to spike out the Trellium Allomancy from them and put it into Kandra so that they can have access to every allomantic metal with just one spike. Mistborn can burn any metal, even god metals. Trell may have to specifically "enable" allomancy for their god metal, but it would still work for a Mistborn if they did, which they would, so that the Set could spike it out of a Mistborn they bred to then give it to a Kandra.

Right, right. But Mistborns could have Allomantic Trellium spiked out of them.

(Technically Autonomy's Avatar (Bavadin) is female, but with her gimmick of making Avatars of all sorts of genders and appearances, it's not particularly relevant) But yeah, that's a good logic for it! If Trellium (or Bavadinium, if it is Autonomy) does act as a wild card in the Metallic Arts, you could be free from any other dependence on any other metal. Trellium would be the universal metal, capable of giving you any effect. Trellium mistings and Ferrings could use whatever power they wanted. Complete freedom of self.

You would be right, if there wasn't a WoB stating that a shard (or other Shard-like entity like Trell might be) would have to specifically designate effects for their god metal to have in the Metallic Arts. So Trell could have deliberately made Trellium do these very desirable effects that would make Trellium-Spiked Kandra extremely powerful, but it needs the Set to be able to spike Trellium Allomancy or Feruchemy out of a Mistborn/Feruchemist.

Okay, that works. Making fresh Kandra from Mistwraiths that have never been Kandra before, that works. I think.

Anyway, we need to get back on topic. This thread is about what Trellium's Allomantic and Feruchemical abilities may be, not whether or not that one "faceless immortal" is actually a Kandra or not.

Fine, I'll accept that these may not actually be Kandra. But I don't want to definitively agree with it. I will when there's proper canon evidence for it. I know I sound like a grumpy little kid, but... This was a thing I strongly believed ever since reading BoM.

Okay fine, if some of the Set are confirmed Worldhoppers I guess there's a chance that these guys are non-kandra shapeshifters. But... It doesn't feel right, ok?! It feels... improper... Especially when we basically had a whole book about Bleeder, a kandra, with Trellium spikes.

That's not my point. My point is that Mistborn (at least Era 2) seems to be pretty isolated in terms of the cosmere. I'm saying ANY non-Scadrian shapeshifting is extremely unlikely. Lightweaving was just my example because, well, look at my icon. It's kind of my thing. Also I'm not saying you're wrong, again it's just extremely unlikely that these "Faceless Immortals" are non-kandra shapeshifters from some other Shardworld. Brandon would have dropped a hint somehow alluding to this, but there's just nothing quite there in that segment to suggest it.

Alright, fair enough. Still, given that this isn't supposed to be a crossover with something like, say... Lightweaving... I think it's safe to say that IS in fact a Kandra. And that the Set has multiple to give Trellium Spikes to.

I agree with this theory. In fact, I specifically mentioned this to my friend and he was like "woah hang on you might be on to something". So, we might be on to something. Yep! This is confirmed by WoB. When a shard corrupts or co-opts a different Shard's investiture, the color red somehow becomes prevalent in the end result.

Any luck finding out? I'm intrigued to be proven wrong.

Wait, really? I thought it was a Kandra with a Trellium spike like Bleeder. I'm not saying Trellium steals literally everything at once, I'm saying you can choose to steal any one thing from the spiritweb with it.

Ok, cool! Good to know there's evidence in favor of it. Not true, there was a Kandra at the end of BoM that exploded. So there's probably yet more Kandra. Atium steals any one Metalborn power, Lerasium steals all human abilities (like strength, senses, memory, etc) in one spike. I'm proposing that Trellium is a wild-card like Atium, but for both Powers and Abilities. Any one of them can be stolen with Trellium, and turned into a Blessing that works with one spike instead of two.
