  1. Brandon posted more overnight:
  2. *nods sagely* Absolutely correct, seems I am in the right place.
  3. Brandon followed up to my thank you reply (which read: Thank you for taking the time to respond and explain. I hope you understand that I was coming from a place of deep admiration, without which there could have been no disappointment in the first place.)
  4. Hi, I hope it's okay that I started a new thread because Brandon commented (in support) of BLM in response to my, uh, lets say repeated inquiries.
  5. Is talking about people's butts considered foul? Asking for Lif- I mean a friend....
  6. Quite the compliment, thank you!
  7. He finally said the storming words. So happy. I do hope someone lets him know many fans are not on reddit (twitter, for example, has many people still asking). Might be good for Adam, or whoever runs it, to note that Brandon does not read the tweets (based on this statement).
  8. It's not you, you're engaging in good faith and it's obvious. Congrats on 6k! [REMOVED BY MODERATOR, politics]
  9. He previously came out very publicly against LGBTQ marriage equality, before he was for it. [REMOVED BY MODERATOR] I feel like I'm living in a cuckoo clock where people know what's right and just want to defend something because they really like it. I'm just being honest. I'm getting tired of posting the same thing, but every single non violent organizer, from the Bishop Desmond Tutu on down, points out that remaining silent in the face of oppression automatically sides you with the people doing the oppressing. Now is when we see if people have the courage of their convictions, not when they feel like writing about allegory that can be interpreted however people want. I refuse to be silent about someone I expect great things from, based on the content of his very profitable books. [REMOVED BY MODERATOR, politics]
  10. He profits off writing about people of color in fantasy. Specifically Asian people, but also others. He writes about social justice themes such as classism, racism (in terms of eyes), etc. Please stop making excuses for him. He. Is. Making. A. Choice. He posted on reddit a day ago about something totally inconsequential in the grand scheme!!!
  11. The whole point of the BLM movement doesn't come down to not judging...what kind of nonsense is that? It comes down to protecting vulnerable minorities from those who are brutalizing them from a position of power in the name of the state. Again, I note people saying he doesn't have to state his opinion, and again I note he has not been apolitical in the past. At this point, I don't expect Brandon to say anything, and I won't be purchasing any of his stuff moving forward. It sucks, but it's how I can sleep at night. Y'alls mileage may vary. Super glad COVID 19 prevented my getting a Bridge 4 tattoo. At this point, the oaths might as well be "I will profit off of those who have been forgotten. I will remain silent about those who need to be protected, so long as it is convenient."
  12. I hear everything you're saying @AonEne - I just think Brandon has an obligation to remember those who have been forgotten, and protect those who cannot protect themselves. I was naive for thinking an author would live up to the stuff he writes. Or at least this author.
  13. [REMOVED BY MODERATOR.] And that brings me to my last post unless/until Brandon says something: Brandon HAS spoken out before on social issues. He came out AGAINST gay marriage before he evolved. Expect better from him.
  14. The first amendment applies to the government censoring speech. Not private forums. It's not a public forum. When you sign up, you agree to a terms of service/code of conduct.
  15. Brandon posted an answer to a user theory on Reddit 18 hours ago, which amounted to a couple of paragraphs. I think it's fair to say at this point Brandon is making a choice. Whether or not you agree that choice carries certain implications, of course is up to the individual. When I saw that he had done that...I can't tell you how depressed and sad I was. Folks here have been saying well, he's busy, well he might not be seeing things, etc etc. I don't think that holds water any more, personally.
  16. This is painful, but important, to read. Thank you for sharing.
  17. Thank you for one of the most thoughtful posts I’ve ever seen on any fandom forum.

  18. I hope Adam or whoever is letting Brandon know people are really trying to reach him on this.
  19. Tried to rep you, but I'm all out for the day. Thanks!
  20. I assume he assistants that do his tweets, too, but I dont know for sure, and some here asserted it as fact, so I just wondered. Anyone know when the next chance for fans to interact with Brandon in a live setting (virtual or IRL)?
  21. How sure are we Brandon doesn't do his own tweets? Because he tweeted about an hour ago, in the first person, to promote more stuff. If you feel the way I do, I encourage you to join in asking him on Twitter.
  22. Bravo for your opinion.

    1. Honorless

      Honorless

Absolute mod lad!  (seriously though, well said!)

  23. “The Lord Ruler is wrong for oppressing the skaa, but they’re burning things so it’s equally bad.”
  24. This has been happening for 400 years.
  25. Their cities are on fire because they keep killing black men extra judicially. With respect, both things are bad but you’re emphasizing the wrong one.
