If Reddit wasn't blocked at work, I'd google fu and confirm it, but I'm almost certain you're correct about the 4k words = 1%. And agreed, thats why I came here to ask - my 1200 = 1% would have made for a really disappointing SA4!

That said, a huge selling point for one of them was that Brandon updates his progress like, daily, basically. That happened to be the friend who got me into ASOIAF in the early 2000s. Hi all, I have a couple of questions regarding leatherbounds for cosmere books: First off, for which Cosmere works do leatherbound editions exist for? The list in my mind of leatherbounds so far is Elantris, Mistborn 1, 2, 3. Is that it? No Stormlight, or Warbreaker ones yet? Will Arcanum Unbounded have a leatherbound? Secondly, since I'm interested in collecting them, and I know for a fact at least one if not more are out of stock with no prospect of another printing AFAIK, anyone got recommendations on where to hunt? I don't need signed editions which is what ebay is chock full of (The Hero of Ages is particularly popular on there). Where else should I be looking? While i don't need signed, I'm intrigued by trying to find first editions, although I'm not obsessed with it (nor monied enough) to really care. I don't buy many hardcopy books but these are ones I absolutely want to have forever. Edit: I'm an idiot, from the Sanderson store: " As of 3-5-19: We are out of leather bound Mistborn: Final Empire books, but that doesn't mean we aren't selling again! We are merely between printings. (: We have placed an order several months ago and should be getting and prepping the new batch soon! Thanks for your patience!"

I was thinking more about this last night. I had an idea for an Elantris based game. Would be on tablets and involve drawing the AonDor before time runs out, or the comptetitor draws the other AonDor before you, or etc. Or puzzle game based on identifying and drawing the correct AonDor, something like in Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice puzzles. I'm reading Wax & Wayne right now and I want my RDR2/Mistborn 2nd Era mod really really bad. As for scope etc, I'd love to see it done CDPR rather than Bethesda style. The Witcher 3 template would work pretty well for allomancy, actually. Instead of the Witcher Signs Geralt draws on in combat, the selection wheel could be allomancy types, surges, or AonDor signs, depending on the universe. Plus Gwent being built in means we could see a fleshed out version of the card game mentioned in Oathbringer. So many possibilities! Glad to see this topic gaining some traction again!

I’d 100% play a TRPG or even a CRPG set on Roshar, but yeah it’s too niche for most gamers. Quite looking forward to the new FE in July. A choose your own adventure style game with high production values (I’m thinking Until Dawn style, which if you haven’t played, shame on y’all) set on any Shardworld would be sick.

Yes!! Also with allomancy there’s so much potential that I didn’t touch on in the OP. For example you could make a story heavy puzzle/branching story line game where you use push/pull and other allomantic powers to solve puzzles. You could riot or dampen NPC emotions to effect dialogue options. So many things that could be done, that’s not even mentioning combat and just flying around with Stormlight or pushing off of objects. A good example of how fun it could be to pull and push off objects could be seen in how Spider-Man swings in the recent PS4 release. That core mechanic is just so much fun. edit: someone needs to make a Wax and Wayne mod for Red Dead 2 whenever it hits PC hahaha

Hey all. Thread title says it all. I'm gonna pretend that one VR game doesn't exist. I think the Cosmere would be ripe territory for a video game. I post over on the ResetEra forums and made a thread there about why there aren't more games based on literary IP, and it boils down to it being cheaper to invent new IP than license existing IP. That said, I'm gonna pretend that is a surmountable obstacle for the purpose of this thread. I think games based on Stormlight Archive, Mistborn (any era), or Warbreaker would be potentially amazing. Just thinking of fooling around in a sandbox style game with Surge Binding powers, flying around like a Wind Runner...could be amazing. I think that Stormlight would lend itself well to a game made in the style of Dragon Age: Origins, but with more vertical freedom depending on what order of radiant you belong to. Mistborn would also be great, there are tons of ways Allomancy could be used in a game context. The later era Mistborn stuff could have a steampunk kinda vibe, or maybe a nascent cyberpunk feel. I also include Warbreaker because I think the potential for a game based on vibrant colors and somehow set in that world would be fantastic, too. Granted, I don't have a lot of actual gameplay systems in mind for a game like that. Anyone else dreaming this dream? I want to see Shadesmar in glorious 4K/60FPS, dammit!

I really hope they don't do a live action adaptation. There's just no way the show would get the kind of budget it would need to do justice to the books. An animated anime style adaptation would be the best of both worlds, allowing for a lot of character development, and appropriate pacing (to answer the OP question!), without shortchanging the fantastic elements. I posted it in another thread but I think the best way to do it would be to cut the interludes entirely and make them into their own episodes after the season is complete. IE, you get the entire Rysn viewpoint chapters as a coherent "bonus" episode, while you'd also have already met Rysn by the end of the Oathbringer season, if that makes sense.

Honestly, Michael Kramer does a pretty good job of Nightblood in Oathbreaker. Since I'm reading Warbreaker after I've read and listened to OB, I have his version in my head now.

Or taking a more modern streaming oriented approach you attach the interlude episodes to the end of a season or even let them trickle out between seasons as “bonus content”. So using Rysn as an example, the show would run through OB excluding her interludes and letting the main story play out. Then like I said people would be curious and check out the “extra” content - an episode featuring her interludes up until we meet her in the main story. Each interlude character would be an episode long this way if done correctly, ie weaving all of a specific interlude characters interludes into one episode narrative

I would love to see SA adapted as an anime. It would be sick if given enough production value. I think it would solve a lot of the problems regarding casting, special effects. Netflix and the other streaming players are coming up with their own original anime these days so I could see an eventual adaptation like that ending up there.

Simple question, sorry if it's been answered before, but my google fu fails me. What is the etymology or history behind the word "Vorin" / "Vorinism"? It doesn't seem to have any connection to the Almighty, The Heralds, etc, that I have found or remember reading.

Hmmm. Tough questions, all of em. Favorite character is probably Rock So far the only Shardworlds I’m familiar with are Scadrial and Roshar. Guess I’d have to go with Scadrial, things seem more stable there now :-) Not interested in RP, sorry!
