  1. Lita awoke abruptly and immediately began burning tin. The light stinging on her forearms became an uncomfortable throbbing, and she was suddenly aware of the feeling of her clothes on her skin, the slight crick in her neck, and a small draft moving through the room. Her memories of staggering in and collapsing on the bed were fuzzy at best, though she was glad she'd had the foresight to kick her shoes off before passing out. She walked into the bathroom and turned on the shower, pleasantly surprised at the warm water flowing from the spigots. A short time later, she was clean and fully awake, tapping a rather luxurious amount of brass to help her dry off faster. She was loathe to put her old clothes back on, bloodstained and musty as they were, and a quick search through the closet in the little bedroom yielded a rather nondescript set of shirt and trousers. They fit well enough, and Lita tried not to think too hard about who they had belonged to, once. She tugged her shoes back on, then crossed back into the main room and opened the door. The alley outside was quiet, but something had woken her - she was sure of it. Lita flared her tin higher, closing her eyes to help focus all her attention on her hearing. She tuned out her own breath and heartbeat, listening hard. It was almost like she could sense people coming or going... somewhere, a great number of them. Something had happened, or was happening. Lita pulled her head back into the set of rooms and shut the door, sitting down at the kitchen table and extinguishing her tin. She sighed, then looked at the copper medallion still tied onto her left arm. That foolish, reckless part of her wanted to go exploring, but she'd seen enough to warrant a little more caution. Laurelai would be back eventually, and it would look good if Lita managed to pick up some Alleycant before her return. She made herself some tea in the kitchen, went and fished the spanreed pen out of her rumpled skirt pocket, then sat back down at the table and started tapping the memories stored inside the medallion. The pen lay unused on the table - the last thing Lita wanted was to accidentally send a slew of nonsense messages into the world. Instead, she used her teaspoon, twirling it through the air between her fingers. She thought of the nonchalant ease with which Laurelai had moved the pen, and attempted to mimic the motions. After the third time dropping the spoon into her tea and expanding the boundaries of her cursing vocabulary, Lita decided to concentrate on the basics and get the flourishes in later.
  2. If it’s wanted! I don’t want to stifle anyone’s plans or ideas though. What are you thinking?
  3. Ah, yeah no problem on my end with the wolves then.
  4. Is he planning on bringing them into the city? A Natural magic construct with heightened intelligence would be let in, a literal pack of wolves would probably.... not be.
  5. I like it, sounds good to me. A large portion of the initial plot is centering around the undercity, which is half flooded and currently occupied by the poorest occupants of Roshek, along with something else that is less than savory. Your character could hang around down there, and probably have less to contend with as far as people goes. I'm actually quite pleased that some people could potentially have characters that are in the Fens watching people disappear, maybe even have someone think they are the ones behind it for a while... I love it. Keep in mind that your character could register in the census and receive a bonus of money, which may entice him for one reason or another.
  6. Thanks for submitting! It seems like your character has effectively been Fleshcrafted by a higher Natural magic deity. Does he now have his own mythos too? The poor cooper who was turned into a wolf? That's a story that would probably get quite a bit of re-telling. If that's the case, his legend could now be feeding itself, keeping the transformation going. Are you planning on having him in the city? It's full of lots of things that he would probably hate very much, like magic, gods, large numbers of people, etc.
  7. The combination of Natural magic belief plus boost from Investiture crystals would be enough for me to believe and approve of the character, but I'm still unsure if the spiritual fusion is possible. @MacThorstenson your thoughts on whether this is possible?
  8. So he's effectively possessed with benefits?
  9. Mostly I'm concerned that fusing a god into your mortal spirit web would fry your brain, or at the very least make you kind of crazy, if not outright kill you. I could see the bond as a kind of negative, parasitic relationship, where a dying god latched onto a person and forces them to mainline Investiture crystals to keep it alive because its belief dried up, but having it be symbiotic is hard for me to rationalize...
  10. Wonderful! Feel free to edit your character sheet via the google doc, or I can do it.
  11. Hmm, I'd have to know the mechanism by which they can continuously change bodies. Are they a creation of purely Natural magic? Are they a Descendant? I also think @kenod might have a better idea on how this could work, or if it could work. The idea sounds cool though, I love characters like that.
  12. @MacThorstenson @kenod @Sorana @xinoehp512 @Steel Inquisitive @Turtle373 @Chasmfiend#1 @ShadowLord_Lith The RP thread is live! Go forth and RP! Hooray!
  13. It was just past noon, and the mist had long-since burned off the Kur River, its surface a brilliant silver stripe under the bright spring sun. The great capital of Roshek sat on the river's southern bank, its many docks and warehouses trailing into the waters like a merchant's robes. Further inland, Aldred spotted the clean marble facades of the Academy and the domed silhouette of the Council Assembly building looming over the bustle and din of the lower districts like disapproving parents. He'd heard the first sounds of the city over a mile out, but now as he approached the arch of Tradesman's Gate, the noise was almost deafening. People jostled and shouted, tradesmen hawked their wares, and everywhere, Aldred felt magic. It thrummed in his bones like the drone of a low pipe, tugging, urging, pulling. He gripped the strap of his pack tighter and shoved the humming into the back of his mind, watching as a young woman juggled five balls of flame while balancing on the tip of one toe. Her other leg arched back until it nearly met the crown of her head. She caught Aldred's eye and winked. "State yer business!" Aldred was shocked out of his reverie by the voice of an older man sitting just under the Tradesman's Gate. He had a wooden placard in his hands and a quill behind one ear; both his hand and ear were splattered with black ink, which rather spoiled his stern expression. Aldred grinned at the man, whose scowl faded as he looked him up and down. "Oh," the man said, some of the gruffness leaking out of his voice. "Apologies Sayer, I didn' mean nothin' by it." Sayer? Aldred blinked in surprise, then looked down at his robes. They were filthy, hem stained at least six inches up with mud and river water, and he'd patched it in at least a dozen places. It barely looked blue anymore, as though the cloth itself had largely forgotten its original purpose. Rather like Aldred himself. Aldred resisted the urge to smirk, instead putting on his most humble smile. He hoped he wasn't too out of practice. "Think nothing of it," he said, placing a hand on the man's ink-stained right shoulder. "I come from afar, ready to report my travels to my brothers and sisters, and to give thanks to Vania for a blessed season of knowledge and truth." The man's scraggly face split into a yellow grin, and Aldred had to physically stop himself from recoiling. "Welcome to Roshek, Sayer... uh..?" The man trailed off expectantly, slipping his quill out from behind his ear and readying the tip with ink from a little pot. Aldred sighed, taking his hand from the man's shoulder and placing it on his breast. "Think of me only as a servant of truth," he said, and sauntered through the Tradesman's Gate into the city. It spread out before him in a wide swath of chaos and smells and bodies and magic. You'll know my name soon enough, he thought, finally allowing that smirk to spread across his lips. Soon enough.
  14. Sounds good to me. The city is right alongside the massive Kur River, and the feeling is sort of Venice-meets-Amsterdam, so there is lots of water around.
  15. I agree with you re: your first plan. It is worth noting that the Fens, Roshek's labyrinthine slum district, covers basically the whole city just at a lower level, is partially flooded, and much if it sees little use. He could possibly find a way in there, and it might be interesting to get his impression on the strange things going on and manifesting in the under-city. Would you be using the travelers sniffing out news as NPCs?
  16. This is the perfect place to post! Thank you! In terms of the prophets who attacked the guardian of your character - are you referring to the Orthodoxy? Or were they another more vigilantist group who wanted to kill Mutig (also totally plausible)? I just want to keep things straight here in that regard. EDIT: sorry, I just re-read through your last paragraph. However, it is very likely that your character will come in contact with worshipers of one god or another in the capital, so just keep that in mind.
  17. I'll be making the new thread around noon PDT, so in another hour, for anyone wondering
  18. Whenever is convenient, Lita's guild affiliation should probably be changed from "unaffiliated" to DA in the master character list. Many thanks! @Voidus @MacThorstenson
  19. Yes, unless enough people want to delay. I'd like to get started. I'll be making one separate thread for the RP plot, and then we'll use this for discussion, yes?
  20. Of course we will!
  21. You can do both, but submitting here is important so we can discuss. Also, since the plot is starting in the capital city of Roshek, your Genius Loci wouldn't really be in the story unless they were in the city, which would effectively make the city under your character's total control. It would be a difficult thing to make work...
  22. Submit what you're thinking and we'll see what's up!
  23. It's possible, but they also would likely not be able to leave that location. At least, that's how I would interpret it. They are the spirit of a place, and are therefore rather stuck.
  24. I agree, comments and OOC stuff makes the most sense to do here. It would make it all easier to keep track of.
  25. Count me in for this if we ever get around to the other continent! I'm eager to see Lilia in action, she sounds pretty cool.
