I…I will tell them. But who can we trust? I can’t tell Edgar.

    Hurts…

Gift had asked her a question. Questions were painful. This was an important one, though. She had to answer.

    Anyone but Roy.

The was the conclusion that required the least thought, so it didn’t burn as badly as it could’ve. It still burned, though. She was starting to doubt if this conversation was worth it.

  2. 1 minute ago, Weaver of Lies said:

Don’t stop, Jenny. Keep telling me what to do.

Please tell someone something’s wrong. Warn them. Don’t let-

Jenny felt whatever remained of her become racked with pain and quit speaking with a whimper. Her thoughts now centered around the pain. Why had she said yes?

  3. Just now, Weaver of Lies said:

    How? I want to.

    I don’t… I don’t know. I don’t remember how I fixed this last time.

Jenny paused, struggling to continue thinking.

    Can you tell-

    Stop.

She cut off, the silence returning.

  4. 2 minutes ago, Weaver of Lies said:

    Jenny?

The deep voice abruptly cut off, leaving everything empty. It couldn’t risk anything overhearing its thoughts. A softer voice spoke, no longer drowned out by the noise, but Jenny herself couldn’t be seen anywhere.

    Please help.

    Ok, thanks.

Inside of Jenny’s mind there were only thoughts that were not her own. A familiar, deep voice could be heard. It was oddly muffled, making any specific ideas difficult to discern. No trace of Jenny seemed to be present save for the occasional soft, sourceless whimper.

  6. 1 minute ago, Weaver of Lies said:

Help. How was he supposed to help her? He was doing everything he could. And that meant…he couldn’t try. That would just hurt her.

Where’s Gift currently? Also, does it need to be touching someone to read their thoughts?

"Wait" Aaron yells after her. We should not go that way, because the police will be waiting there for us. "He grabs some of the seeds from his hand, and a twig in the other. "I can make us a temporary ball of wood to travel down into the river, and shape it from that, cushioning it with plants."

Jenny turned back. That was risky, but the boy was right. Interactions with the police needed to be avoided. Killing mortals would draw too much attention.

    ”Alright.”

She strolled over and waited patiently, standing still with her hands at her sides.

This is very out of character for Jenny

He looked up, and for a moment his eyes shined with the love he still felt. Then he shoved it down. All it would do is make it hurt more. He turned away.

Jenny quit speaking for a moment. Then she managed to barely say a single word in a quiet, hoarse voice.

    Help.”

1 minute ago, Scars of Hathsin said:

Aaron watches the two stunned. "What just happened" he says. unsure if anyone heard him. He looks out the window again parting some of the vines, noticing the large amount of police cars crowding below, and pouring towards the arch. "Umm guys I think we need to go now"

Jenny’s smile faded into an appropriately concerned expression for the situation. It looked more realistic this time, but still wasn’t perfectly accurate. She stood up, her motions now less jerky.

    ”Good idea.”

She started off towards the exit, not looking behind her.

  9. 6 hours ago, Weaver of Lies said:

Edgar almost looked up at her. But no, that would be too hard for both of them. So he just stared at his knees.

“Up here. Up here. Up here.”

Jenny continued to point at her head. Her flat, cheerful tone faltered ever-so-slightly.

He won’t help. He left you. He doesn’t care about you. He never did.

  10. 3 hours ago, Weaver of Lies said:

“Y…yeah. It is.” Why was she saying that? Any way she sitting next to him? And why did she sound so…unlike herself?

He would make it worse. He always made it worse. How was he going to mess up now?

Jenny didn’t react to what Ed said, almost as if she couldn’t hear him.

    ”Up here.”

She pointed at her head. Something flickered in her eyes again. It wasn’t a happy thing, but it was at least something other than emptiness.

Everything was pain, but she couldn’t cry.

  11. 32 minutes ago, RoyalBeeMage said:

"your right. you can see a lot from here."

Jenny turned towards Roy, still smiling.

“The city really is pretty from up here.”

Her lifeless eyes scanned the room, eventually falling on Edgar. Sorrow flickered in them as she saw that Ed had fallen to his knees. She meandered over to him, her body going through the motions like it was on autopilot. Her uncanny smile had faded slightly. When she spoke, it sounded like someone had started to play an audio clip halfway through.

    ”Pretty from up here.”

She was looking at Ed, not the window. She then sat down next to him, movements somehow both jerky and smooth.

A white-hot hatred seared her mind.

    Edgar sank to his knees.

Pain. The pain felt right. He deserved it, after  what he had put Jenny through. He deserved far worse.

Jenny stood up and walked over to the window, standing right in front of it. She looked down through it with a smile.

”The city really is pretty from up here.”

  13. 1 minute ago, Weaver of Lies said:

“I…I do know that. Because of who I am, I know that I would have gotten you hurt. This is best. I’m sorry.”

He stood slowly, then, with a glance back at her, he teetered a few steps away.

Jenny didn’t move, staring blankly forwards.

    Her eyes had gone glassy.

  14. Just now, Weaver of Lies said:

He let go of her. “It’s for the best. I promise, you’ll see eventually. This might not have been hurting you right now, but eventually it would. And I know it will hurt to end, but that’ll hurt less, I think. And then…” then you won’t have to worry about me,  or  have me endangering you.

“You don’t know that. You don’t know how I feel better than I do. I won’t stop loving you. It’s too late to make that go away.”

She took that hug as a sign that he still loved her. She still had a fighting chance. Jenny desperately wanted to hug Ed again, but he probably wouldn’t be comfortable with that. She unconsciously hugged herself instead.

  15. 1 minute ago, Weaver of Lies said:

“It matters to me if it hurts you.”

He couldn’t stop himself. Ignoring the pain, he spun, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her close to him. He could…he could end this now. One  last, loving hug from him. Then it would all be over.

”I love you. And that’s why…that’s why I have the strength to leave. Because in the end it will be better for you.”

He didn’t mention how much it would crush him. She didn’t need to know. And he wasn’t important.

“Leaving hurts me! This relationship hasn’t been hurting me, but I know for a fact that I’ll be hurt by it ending.”

Jenny clung to Ed tightly, not wanting to let go. He didn’t seem to understand how much she loved him. By this point, she was shaking. She was going to end up alone again. Her next word was half sob.

    Please.

  16. Just now, Weaver of Lies said:

“But…everything tells me that what I want is what will hurt you most. Everything but…well, you and me.”

Hopefully she would say that’s what mattered most.

“I don’t care if it hurts me. I just want to stay with you. I love you. Love is what matters.”

Jenny spoke earnestly. She scooted slightly closer to Ed. She didn’t touch him or get in his personal space; she just wanted to be near him. Just in case she never got that opportunity again.

  17. 15 minutes ago, Weaver of Lies said:

“I…I know that. But…does it matter what I want if what I want will hurt you? And I know it will.”

How could what he wanted matter. Even if they wanted the same thing. It was best for them to not be together.

“It’ll hurt me if I ignore what you want. I don’t wanna ignore what I want, either. I love you. I want you to be happy.”

Jenny tried to shove down the feelings of hopelessness Ed’s words elicited. She couldn’t give up. She couldn’t let him sink into this dark place. He needed help, and it didn’t seem like anyone else was able to do that right then and there.

  18. 1 minute ago, Weaver of Lies said:

He looked at her. His heart and mind agreed on this. Yes, yes he absolutely wanted to stay with her. He wanted to hold her, to kiss her, to just…be with her.

But if he said yes, it would continue the problems. Continue the problems that he put on her.

He stayed silent for a moment. Then another. He wanted so badly to say yes.

”I…I…does it matter what I want?”

     He ignored Roy.

“It matters. Both people have to want to be in a relationship for it to be real, I think. The last thing I want to do is force you to do something you don’t want to do, anyways.”

Jenny heartbeat was incredibly fast, faster than it was even during the rush of battle. She was terrified that Ed would say no. Terrified that she’d be alone. Terrified that she’d get what she deserved.

  19. 7 minutes ago, Weaver of Lies said:

He let her. She cared about him, still. She had given that flower to him like she had given the other to him what seemed so long ago. She was trying to help. He finally turned and looked at her with a tear-streaked face. “I’m so sorry Jenny,” he said hoarsely.

    “It’s ok.”

Jenny sat there quietly for a moment, unsure of what to do. She was worried that anything she said might make things worse again. Silence might also make things worse, though.

”Do you want to stay together? We don’t have to. We can start over, if you want.”

Please say yes. Please don’t leave.

"hey guys can we forget about suicide for a second and go look for some lunch please?"

    @Weaver of Lies(nice new name) @Lunamor @Scars of Hathsin

Jenny looked at Roy incredulously. That was a wildly insensitive thing to say, even for him.

  20. 1 minute ago, Weaver of Lies said:

A flower. Such a simple object, but it meant so much. And it could kill him. So much easier than jumping. He picked it up, slowly raising it towards his mouth.

Jenny immediately tried to grab his arm to stop him, then yank the flower out of his hand. She made no attempt to be gentle. Stupid, stupid Jenny. She’d handed him a deadly poisonous flower. Death followed her everywhere. It was no wonder people were scared of her. They should be scared.

  21. 2 minutes ago, Weaver of Lies said:

Jenny was back. He didn’t know what she was doing there. Hopefully she wouldn’t talk to him. He didn’t think he could stand a confrontation.

This was for best. It had to be.

He wasn’t hurting himself because she was back. There had to be something more she could do. Maybe she could start everything over again. Go back to the very beginning. Jenny grabbed a flower out of her bag, then wordlessly slid it across the floor to Ed.

  22. Out of the corner of her eye, Jenny saw plants of some sort sprouting. She tried to keep facing away, but couldn’t. It was so hard to stay away. She risked a glance over her shoulder and saw that Aaron was covering the crack in the window. Ed was looking at that and crying. Had he… oh no. Was staying away not enough? Was she hurting him by leaving? She’d hurt him by staying, too. No matter what she did, she’d hurt him. But she couldn’t just watch him hurt.

She walked back over to Ed and sat down. She was barely in arms reach and didn’t look at him directly. This way, she could grab him if he tried to do anything.
