The Longest Thread (Misadventures)
Zephrun’s Imperium replied to ElephantEarwax's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Sophie pumped her fist into the air. "Ha, ha!" she exclaimed. "I did it!" Granite Pushed himself upward, the wind whistling in his ears, messing up his white-blonde hair. His cloak fluttered around him, making him feel at ease. He had gotten quite used to feeling it on him. In fact, he'd grown since he'd left home with it and it now fit him quite a bit better. He wondered if Kell suspected him for taking it. He'd never told anyone else that he was Mistborn. Not his aunt and uncle, not his older sister, not his cousins. He found himself growing oddly sad. He didn't miss home very much. Both of his homes. He only barely remembered what his mother and father looked like. Marsh's face was more ingrained in his mind though, mostly because he'd never seen anyone else with spikes like his. His mother on the other hand... He remembered her blonde curls, her twinkling blue eyes. Not much else besides that. Star. Such an odd name. Unlike any of the Alethi names he'd spent most of his life around. It was mysterious with a beautiful connotation. And yet, so far, his mother had brought only darkness to his life. Questions. Why did she leave? Who was she? When did her story begin? What did she want? Where was she now? How did she end up with Marsh? Would Granite ever find the answers? His old home with Jasnah and Kelsier hadn't given him any answers. Nobody seemed to want to talk about anything that happened. Rose was particularly adamant on her refusal to share any of her memories. Kelsier could talk for hours on end about his older brother, but never said a word about what had gone down with Star. Sophie seemed to have known things. Jay, the man who came around to be with Max had obviously possessed mystical properties and he'd even tried to "train" Granite. Whatever that meant. None of it made sense. In his heart was an ever-present, quiet, cold anger, yet the more logical part of him knew that there was far more that he did not know than what he did have knowledge of. Therefore, he could make no judgement about his situation. All he really knew was that his mother had left him and his sister. Years later, they had received word that Star had filed for divorce. His father had gone quite mad over the whole thing, left one day and never come back. Apparently he was dead now. And maybe his mother was too, but something told him that that was not the case. Perhaps whatever was at the top of this mountain could shed some light on his situation. He looked down, noting that the blue line that connecting him and the coin below was growing faint. He grabbed another coin - one of his last - and dropped it on a protruding rock below him, then Pushed on the new coin. He continued to shoot upward, determination and adrenaline burning within him.- 111833 replies

Weird. Well, to each their own, I guess. I think cherry tomatoes are one of the most disgusting things ever.

From the album: The Longest Thread (Misadventures)
So, on Friday I was really itching to use my markers and color something, so I went looking through my old art to see if there was something I could do. I came across the old drawing from about a year ago, called Rivals (which is a ways back in this very album) and thought it probably wouldn't be a very good idea to use that drawing for experimentation because of how special that drawing is. It was the first time I'd ever drawn Shadow, which is pretty cool. But then I had the thought to try and redraw it. It'd be a cool experience to see how much I've grown as an artist in the last year. So, I spent that evening and all of Saturday working on this, finally finishing it around 10:30 at night. I am so infinitely proud of this. I really, really loved drawing it and coloring it and it's so especially amazing to compare it to the original. The portions look good, the hands are passable even though I skipped over Shadow's thumb and I've given Star the more matronly form that she deserves. It was a lot of fun trying to put myself back in the characters' places while drawing this. Star is still slightly evil and as such still has her black iron crown, Shadow is trapped in her marionette form, and still undetected as a Sliver of Ruin. *sigh* CBST is awesome y'all. I really hope to color more of my drawings as time goes on, but I'm still learning and experimenting with a lot. In the meantime, I'm so glad I was able do this experiment. -

TVG snapped, getting her daughter's attention. Sophie, please deal with this. "Hmm?" Sophie looked up and read through the last couple of posts. "Oh, my nephew!" Her face got angry. "Messing with my family is not okay. Begone, evil godmodder!" With that, she Narrated a giant forcefield around the mountain, keeping out any evil mistborn, thermonuclear device, or any other thing of mal intent towards Granite or any other being on the mountain. Narrator Sophie put her hands on her hips in satisfaction.- 111833 replies

This. Is. Why. I. Don't. Like. Plot. On. TLT. TVG glared. I don't like godmodding. The annoyed Author erased Granite's short-term memories of seeing the illusion of his sister. Continue, she told him. Go find your family, child... And thus the boy mistborn began ascending the mountainface.- 111833 replies

I mean... he did just hit his head. *sigh* Okay, I guess... Granite paused, slowing his flight and landing on the ground. He hadn't seen Rose in a long time. What the storms was she doing here? He ran up to her. "Rose?"- 111833 replies

Wait, why the storms is Rose at the mountain? I can't have her come to CBST with Granite. She will not be good to her mother, and Star will have enough to deal with as is with Astral.- 111833 replies

The Longest Thread (Misadventures)
Zephrun’s Imperium replied to ElephantEarwax's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
"I dunno, what're you doin' dreamin'?" -------- Granite blinked awake, unsure how much time had passed since his fainting spell. It didn't take long for him to remember all that had happened. The storm, the withergeists, the burst of light and then... nothing. He took a look at his surroundings. The cobblestones were still slightly damp and his miscloak was soaked with rainwater. It felt heavy on his back as he got up to his feet. The village he was in was deathly quiet. The withergeists had not been kind to this area. In fact, they had all seemed to be going the same way when he was fighting them. As if the village was simply another stop on their way to... somewhere. Granite turned around. In the distance stood a mountain. And... at the top.... He squinted. It was as if the top of the mountain was smudged. It didn't look quite right. Curious, he burned bronze. He had read about his powers. Seen his uncle use them. Nothing he had seen or heard had told of the things he could sometimes manage to do with his gifts. When the blue woman, his so-called Aunt Sophie, had come about a year ago, his metals had reacted strangely, particularly his bronze. Sophie had called herself a Narrator. And supposedly, his mother had been one too. Something strange was going on in this world of his. And Granite wanted desperately to find out what it was. The blurred mountain top slowly began to clear up. He burned his bronze a little harder and the odd illusion melted away, allowing him to see... darkness. It hung over the rocky formation like a cloud. It seemed faded though, as if part of it had been washed away. Still, it was not yet gone. And, strange as it was, he could swear he saw a faint blue glow, emanating from up there. It seemed to stand in defiance of the blackness. Suddenly, Granite felt an overwhelming desire to go up there and find out what was happening. No longer would he let himself be kept in the dark. He needed to find his mother. He needed to find the truth. Granite checked on his metals. He didn't have much of anything left. But maybe... He checked his belt. Most of his vials were gone, but there were two left... One held more bronze and the other had a small quantity of both iron and steel. He grinned. Perfect. He downed the bottle, threw it to the ground, and dropped a coin, launching himself through the rest of the village and toward the mountain...- 111833 replies

plot The Cosmic Battle to Save the Thread
Zephrun’s Imperium replied to BringerofShadows's topic in Roleplaying
Star nodded absently and glanced up at Pheo. But as she stared into the amber depths of his eyes, she knew exactly what was bothering her. There was a strangeness there, a kind of haunting unfamiliarity that she had been denying. She knew Pheonix, yes, but how much time had she really spent with him? Mere moments, in the grand scheme of things. Was she truly so desperate to be held that she would give away her entire self to someone she barely knew? Yes. Yes she was. Worse than the realization that she didn’t know Pheonix all that well was the fact that she felt crushingly unworthy of his love. She could see it in his gaze, feel it in his aura, just how much he really cared, but all she felt was a kind of dread. What did she do to deserve this? Why should he be so devoted to a woman with a soul as villainous, darkened, battered as hers? It was one thing for Heather, who had never been subject to any real love before, to feel such attachment to the only one who showed her any kindness, but Pheo who claimed to see through the sludge of her demented past? -

"Y-yes," she said. "I suppose..." Star looked down at her shaking hands. Something about that sight made a part inside of her buckle. Tears rose up and blurred her eyes. Storm it, why was she so frail all of a sudden? Pheonix was here with her, she had no right to be breaking down like this. She held him tighter, but felt nothing but deep-seated unease. -

Star sighed and regarded Pheonix quietly. He was so wonderful. Her heart pounded in her chest, pulse suddenly racing. Oh, Author, she did love him, she just... didn't... Feeling wild, she took his arm and leaned close to him. She trembled slightly, but tried to make herself relax.
