  1. Sophie grimaced. "Oooooh.." she said. "Do we have to do that? That doesn't sound very... happy. Or fun..." She bit her lip. The prospect of going to fight that thing again was not a pleasant one. She'd only just gotten Xinoehp back, risking him again was not something she had any interest in doing. "Seriously though, who's the Witherlord?" "Oh, he's the one that nearly killed poor Xino over there a little bit ago. He's scary..." "Okay..." "Hey, where'd Astral go?" "Silence..." Star growled. "What did he do?"
  2. "Oh, hi, Michael. Wait, the WITHERLORD? Oh no." "Who's the Witherlord?" "Nonononono! Michael c-can we do something?"
  3. Sophie just continued to laugh with joy, holding to a tree. "Uh... what does that mean, Sophie?" "Well, it means a lot of things. It means you can go see your mother, for one. And Xino can go have the plot he's always wanted." Astral panicked for a moment. The way is open... she thought. She melted to goo, biding her time. Granite wanted to cross over. She'd follow the boy over. If she had a face in a liquid state, she would have smiled.
  4. Sophie widened her big eyes. "DID YOU FEEL THAT." Granite looked at Sophie, then over at Xinoehp, then back at Sophie. "Uh.... no?" "AAAAAAAHH!!!!! HAHAHA!!" "Is she okay?" Granite whispered. "THE UNIVERSES HAVE ALIGNED!!!" That's it. She's crazy, thought Granite. I love it. "Xino do you know what that means!?"
  5. Ember's eyes widened and she felt a buzzing in her ears. Something had just happened. Something huge. She let go of Heather's hair and swung her slender legs off the side of the bed to take a look around. The Destroyer cast her eyes about the room, but nothing was different and the only sound was of her own metallic footsteps. She blinked in confusion, then, deciding nothing was wrong, sat back down next to Heather and continued playing with her hair. ------ "What just happened?!" Star demanded. Her pain had begun to fade and she was terrified at what that meant, especially with all the strange activity she was picking up mentally. Combined, they resulted in great stress.
  6. From the album: The Longest Thread (Misadventures)

It was nice to go back to graphite after using ink and markers for so long. I really missed being able to put so much detail into a face. These are probably the best depictions of Star and Heather that I have ever done, to be honest. I want to be able to draw realistically and while the ability to color is wonderful... it takes away from the realism, which is a real shame. I may not be the greatest at drawing human anatomy, but when it comes to faces, I'm a pretty decent artist. I'm really proud of these two drawings.
  7. You know, I don't think there's a single person who has walked planet earth who hasn't felt depressed or anxious at one point in their life. It's a part of life and not a very fun one. And I think that knowing that everyone feels that way sometimes can be a way for us to find empathy. It's disappointingly easy to look at the people around us as one dimensional projections that exist around you. But that's just not true. The number of people dealing with this kinda stuff is off the charts and a lot of times it's quite impossible to be able to tell if someone is struggling. Right now, we're facing times unlike anything else. But, thanks to our technology, we can still reach out to each other, which is honestly pretty amazing. This time has been hard for a lot of people, me definitely included. So I'm really glad we're banding together to talk to each other here. Y'all are awesome.
  8. Happy MAY DAY everyone! In the city where I live, it's a tradition to, on the first of May, doorbell ditch solo cups filled with candy and usually popcorn. Corona ain't stoppin' us, and I highly encourage all of you to go show some love to your friends with some sweet treats.

  9. Fabulous choices! Favorite Sanderson book?
  10. Hello and welcome to the Shard! We're happy to have you. Who's your favorite cosmere character?
  11. Do we get a picture of this beautiful creation?
  12. TVG sighed, then snapped, sending Nameless a vision of the past. Star went through this.
  13. My chosen one made a similar choice early in her life. You are too young to have seen it happen, but it was a day of reckoning. This will not bring you joy. I can promise you that much.
  14. Much to Kelsier and Jasnah's annoyance. "WHY DOES LIFE HATE THIS FAMILY!" said Kelsier.
  15. Yeah... same. I feel like a bit of a hypocrite, but same.
  16. TVG wondered if everyone had forgotten Sutton, the most recent of the Kelsnah children.
  17. Rose brought the spoon to her lips, eyes focused on the words on the pages below her. She kept mostly to herself these days, locking herself in her room, only leaving for food and occasionally to help her aunt and uncle. She was perfectly aware that Jas and Kell were worried about her, but she couldn’t bring herself to care. The more time she spent with her family, the more she was reminded of Granite and Max and her mother and father. Why was it that her family was so tied to misfortune? Had one of her ancestors brought a curse upon the whole line? She certainly wouldn’t count that out as an option… She took another spoonful of soup, shoving her thoughts away and trying to focus on her book. “The king’s plans don’t matter. As long as we control the staff, we are the ones in power.” Arianne shook her head. “I don’t like this. Too much could go wrong.” She squared her shoulders, a new resolve shining in her eyes. “Send for my brother. He will better know how to fix all of this.” Rose paused for a moment, the word “brother” sticking in her head. Granite, she thought. She pushed the thought aside, then reread the last two lines. Again, the word “brother” echoed in her head. This time as she thought the word Granite, her brother’s face appeared in her mind. Rose shut her eyes, banishing the image by imagining cool blackness and nothing more. Still, the image shone through. “No,” she whispered. “Away with you. Away.” “Rose, give in,” Granite said. Rose put her hands on her head. “Granite. Is. Dead,” she said adamantly. “Leave me be.” “I’m not dead, sister.” With those words, pain blossomed in the back of her head. Rose cried out, standing and sending her book and the bowl of soup onto the floor. “Leave me BE!” In a horrible moment the pain intensified. And then all gave way to blackness. Rose toppled to the floor, unconscious.

  23. Sophie walked over so she could watch. She gasped as Jacob's body thumped to the ground. "Oh my gosh..." she said. "Aww, Michael. I'm so sorry." "Wait, where did that thing even come from?" Granite asked. Sophie shrugged. "I dunno. "Then... how do you even know if that really happened?" Sophie considered. "That's a good point, Granite."
