Trails of Cold Steel (and the Kiseki series in general)
Zurvanight replied to Zurvanight's topic in Entertainment Discussion
Ohhhh ok! I didn't realize that was going to be a thing in Hajimari. Tokyo Xanadu was how I got into Trails and I definitely remember Magical Alisa and the Rean fishing minigame at the arcade. I thought that might've been Musse from her hair color but I wasnt sure because the style was so out there. I like how Duvalie is just in a school uniform haha. -

Ok that explains a lot! Thanks! Also I wonder who these two below Altina are? Because I don't recognize them: -

Nine Princes in Amber by Roger Zelazny. I bought the big book that contains all ten Chronicles of Amber books with a bit of my tax return.

Please give us English ports of the Crossbell arc Falcom! Those are my favorites after Cold Steel. And Wazy Hemisphere is back for Hajimari! And Wald Wales. I also saw something about McBurn returning. -

Just beat Ruby Weapon in FFXIV. The fight is super fun. -
Still one of the best boss battle themes ever. Not just because it sounds amazing, but because if you knew the context it sounds even better. The context being:
-
"You've commited the cardinal sin of boring me. And so I retire to the shade." - Emet-Selch "Do not seek forgiveness, for it will not ease the burden. It weighs as it should." - Fray of the Onyx Shade "In your darkest hour, in the blackest night... think of me, and I will be with you. Always. For where else could I go? Who else could I love but you?" - Myste "This world is beyond saving. Like those who tried to save it... this world has had its fill of heroes." - Ardbert "You gifted my people a thousand years of suffering. Now I gift you an eternity in darkness!" - Estinien Wyrmblood "Blood-brother, thou hast doomed me.. But if I must meet mine end, then all shall burn upon my pyre!" - Nidhogg "Come and play! For the night is bright and you can sleep when you're dead." - Titania "To ignore the plight of those one might conceivably save is not wisdom—it is indolence." - Archon Louisoix "We did everything right! Everything that was asked of us, and still... still things came to this! You of all people must understand! We cannot, we will not falter. We brought our world to the brink of destruction, and now we must save it." - Ardbert "Wicked white, you're him! You were there, in the middle of it all, strong as a hundred men! A bulwark against the tide of eaters that threatened to overwhelm us! And now you've brought me a sandwich! A sandwich! Amazing!" "Seek salvation by your own hands. Though the losses be grave... endure them. Though the victories be hollow... claim them." - Ardbert "The path you've chosen is paved with the dead. Walk it with your eyes open, or not at all." - Matoya

Bumping this topic to bring you the latest news for this game: Patch 5.2 is looking to be the best patch I've ever seen in XIV. First off: RUBY WEAPON!!! AHHHHH!!! The new Eden raid tier Eden's Verse has Ramuh, Ifrit, and Garuda reimaginings as fights, and you'll have to fight the latter two together. For the lore aspect it looks as if we'll learn even more about Hydaelyn and there's a dungeon or trial with Dalamud falling on the city of Amaurot...for some reason. Some updated lore of Hydaelyn and Zodiark, spoilers for Shadowbringers:

Usually I take things I see or hear in real life and apply them to my story. Sometimes just words I hear, normal everyday words, end up as a character's name or a building or town. I just hear a word and I'm like, "That is perfect for this character's name!" It's a 'Eureka!' moment and I love it when it happens. I also just think of things that sound cool. Random mishmash words that don't meant anything but just look cool. I like weird sounding names, or characters named after objects or words which is very apparent in my writing.

I heard this and I have to agree.

I got a Switch Lite for Christmas and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and the first time I heard this remixed theme from the first game I about died from how awesome it was:

Trails of Cold Steel (and the Kiseki series in general)

Sorry gotta bump because the newest Legend of Heroes game has been announced. Hajimari no Kiseki, which features 3 protagonists: Rean Schwarzer from Cold Steel, Lloyd Bannings from Zero/Ao, and The Hermit, a new character. You can switch between them at anytime during the game, and there are over 50 playable characters! Here's the article I found: https://www.rpgsite.net/news/9300-falcom-reveals-the-legend-of-heroes-hajimari-no-kiseki-coming-to-playstation-4-in-japan-in-summer-2020 The Grandmaster is shown in the promo images meaning we will most likely FINALLY get to learn more about the Orpheus Final Plan and Ouroboros goal. The guy who Rean is facing might be Thousand Oathbreaker. The Hermit and his partner I guess. Lloyd Bannings and Noel Seeker Rixia Mao is back as well -
Still on the first, about halfway. Yeah I know there's two authors. I'm gonna read the main ten books first then work on the others if I like them well enough. I originally tried reading GotM multiple times but just couldn't get into it. It's very confusing at first but once I got to Darujhistan everything felt a bit easier to follow. Now I can't stop reading.

Hey I just started this series a few weeks ago and I really love it. Also I made a meme for you guys sorry for the poor quality I made it quick:

A cover of Hades first phase theme 'Who Brings Shadow'. Despite the title saying 'epic metal' it's not metal. Like at all. Still really cool and the CG matches up really well with the music. Also the lyrics: "One brings shadow, one brings light To this riddle all souls are tied Brief our moments, brazen and bright Forged in fury, tempered in ice" Gives me chills

If you like those check out Zanmai. It has my favorite versions of Silver Will and Sophisticated Fight (both from Sky) The Super Arrange of 'A Light Illuminating the Depths' is also god-tier -
These are from Return to Ivalice in FFXIV, but some are also from Tactics: "Seven shadows cast. Seven fates foretold. Yet at the end of the broken path lies death, and death alone!" - Northswain's Strike "To the current of life, we succumb. Its judgement swift and final. Its bite as cold as steel." "The hearts of men are black with corruption and must needs be cleansed! I call out to the skies and tremble as the brilliance of a thousand bolts blinds mine enemies and tears their flesh asunder. They who dwell aloft have spoken. Let their words echo in your empty soul. Ruination is come!" - Agrias Oaks "I am Count Cidolfus Orlandeau. Your journey ends here. Open your eyes to the darkness, and drown in its loveless embrace. The gods will not be watching." "Misfortune hangs heavy on a head once held high. Such is poor cover for when the heavens fall. To live by the sword is to die by the sword. There is time enough for regret in the flames of hell. Honed is the blade that severs the villain's head. Endless is the path that leads him from hell." "Hark! The screams of ruin rise above the storm's discord. Shudder not in Her endless cold." "I have been called the god of thunder. You will now know why! Upon my holy blade the very world lies in balance. And now the scales will tip!" - Thunder God Cidolfus Orlandeau "Mortal agency in matters divine shall not be suffered. You shall rue the day you raised your eyes to the heavens. Kneel before me!" "Simmer does the light of life before rising to the heavens in a cleansing conflagration of divine benevolence. Your souls... Your souls... ARE UNDONE! I am the only god...I am your Mother. I am your Maker! I. AM. IVALICE!" - Ultima the High Seraph

Back and forth between Trails of Cold Steel III and The Outer Worlds. But mostly Trails. I cannot even begin to say how good this JRPG is. It's perfect. I was worried about NIS handling localization but they got ALL of the old English VA's back. -
