Not really a theory, but more of an observation about the idea behind Adonalsium. I like to think that Shattering of Adonalsium is based on the Judiac Tohu and Tikkun (Chaos and Order) and the event known as The Shattering of the Vessels. Tohu and Tikkun explains that at the beginning of creation, the universe was in a spiritual condition (Tohu or Chaos) that lacked balance and order. Because of this an event occurred called the Shevirat Hakeilim or, "The Shattering of the Vessels" where light left these vessels known as the ten Sefirot, tools that were necessary to filter Gods Infinite Light because unfiltered, the light of God would obliterate everything (later on they are sometimes considered the ten structural forces of nature, which is reminiscent of the Shards of Adonalsium even tho the number isn't 16. I'm not gonna go into detail on the Sefirot because it would take all day). The vessels of Tohu were immature and the light emanating from them was too strong and they shattered. The fragments of these vessels fell to lower worlds where they were absorbed. The fragments of the vessels are called sparks of holiness and they exist in everything. This "Shattering" was planned by God as an act of "destruction for the purpose of rebuilding." So after this God rebuilt the Sefirot, this time making them able to contain the light, and filter it properly. And only because of this event we are able to exist in the orderly world of Tikkun that we are familiar with. Adonalsium reminds me of the Ein Sof Ohr; the divine light that existed prior to everything except God himself. God himself being unknowable and hidden is the God Beyond. Judaic lore is really, really confusing haha.

So some people here might already know, but I'm a huge fan of the mmo Final Fantasy XIV. Not only is the gameplay fun, and there's hundreds of hours of stuff to do, the story is top notch. Probably the best FF story in recent years. There is a ton of lore as well. Two physical encylopedias exist as of right now, just for the purpose of explaining the lore. With the reveal of the full Shadowbringers trailer, and the expansion releasing soon, I thought I'd create a topic and see if anyone else plays this awesome game. Full Shadowbringers trailer: The world of XIV feels like a Shardworld to be honest. There are two opposing forces, Hydaelyn, the Mother Crystal, and Zodiark an imprisoned dark god who longs to be free and whose servants, known as the Ascians labor to revive through widespread destruction known as calamities. They usually do this by teaching beastmen and fanatics how to summon Primals, savage gods that gorge themselves on crystals and enslave any who come near them. Some lore I've included in spoilers, read at your own risk since they spoil quite a bit: The End of an Era: Hydaelyn and Zodiark: The Allagan Empire and the Machinations of the Ascians: Heavensward trailers: Stormblood trailers:

FFXIV has some really good dialogue: "Look ye where the sun doth rise, see crimson embers, darkening skies. Look ye where the sun doth fall, see azure lost amidst the squall." "That way... sorrow... history must be changed. Ahead looms light, expunging all form and life. Twin dooms only you can forestall...only you. Throw wide the gates that we may pass. Ahead looms a calamity." "Frozen in time, mine armor of flame. Unto eternity's end, my righteous reign!" "He that holdeth fast unto his convictions shall never count betrayal amongst his crimes, though all the world may call him villain. My path is unchanged; my creed sacrosanct. This I believe with all my heart." "Only man has the wisdom -- and the clarity -- to embrace violence for its own sake." "Your music is bad and you should feel bad!" "But enough exposition! Now we fight like men! And ladies! And ladies who dress like men!" "You are the beacon of hope towards which all men are drawn." "Spare us the hyperbole. 'Tis not for praise that we fight." "Woe betide the man who stands opposed to the weapon of light, for death will be his reward." "Good and evil, the war eternal...the fires of anger roar and howl..."

Some of these are more lines than actual quotes from characters, but still they are pretty cool: From the Prophecies of the Dragon from the Wheel of Time: "With his coming are the dread fires born again. The hills burn, and the land turns sere. The tides of men run out, and the hours dwindle. The wall is pierced, and the veil of parting raised.Storms rumble beyond the horizon, and the fires of heaven purge the earth. There is no salvation without destruction, no hope this side of death." "As the plow breaks the earth shall he break the lives of men, and all that was shall be consumed in the fire of his eyes. The trumpets of war shall sound at his footsteps, the ravens feed at his voice, and he shall wear a crown of swords." "Five ride forth, and four return.Above the Watchers Over the Waves shall he proclaim himself, bannered 'cross the sky in fire." --- Hakumens mantra from Blazblue: "I am the white void, I am the cold steel, I am the just sword. With blade in hand shall I reap the sins of this world and cleanse them in the fires of destruction. I am Hakumen! The end has come." --- From a light novel, can't remember the name but it's really good: "The first time she used the spell Fireball, I couldn't find any words in my vocabulary to describe how happy she was. And while she looked at the curtains that were burning intensely, she said, 'One day I'll cast huge fireworks like Rudeus.' I extinguished the fire, and strictly warned her not to use fire magic when I'm not around. The ignited curtains' light cast a glow over her. No matter what angle you viewed it from, she had a face of an arsonist" --- Lord of Light: The deathgod smiled, "Catch your breath quickly now, while you may," he stated. "Breath is the least appreciated gift of the gods. None sing hymns to it, praising the good air, breathed by king and beggar, master and dog alike. But, oh to be without it!" "It paced the heavens, the one who was born to rule the winds...From out of the north it came---green and red, yellow and brown..... Its glide was a dance, its way was the air.... There came another shriek, and then the beating of mighty pinions as it climbed past clouds to become a tiny dot of black. And then it fell, like a meteor bursting into flame, all of its colors blazing and burning bright, as it grew and grew, beyond all belief that anything could live at that size, that pace, that magnificence.... Half spirit, half bird, legend darkening the sky. Mount of Vishnu, whose beak smashes chariots. The Garuda Bird circled above Alundil."

Anthem. It's not the best game, but it feels like the closest you can get to a Stormlight Archive game. Combat is really fun, and flying is a blast. The armor you wear are called Javelins and they remind me of Shardplates. I made an Edgedancer Interceptor (speed/rogue) Javelin lol. And the Storm (mage) Javelin reminds me of the Fused. -

After beating Trails of Cold Steel 2, I started the prequel series, Trails in the Sky. I really like the interactions between Joshua and Estelle. Now that Trails of Cold Steel 3 has been announced stateside I want to beat the prequels and replay Cold Steel 1 and 2 before 3 drops. Also 3 has some of the coolest S-Crafts (super moves) ever. -

How did you find your first Brandon Sanderson book?
Zurvanight replied to beantheboy12's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I've told this story on another post somewhere but the reason I even discovered Brandon was due to those Unbound Worlds character fights where they pit fictional characters against each other often times having the weakest characters imaginable winning against what are basically gods. So anyways I was and still sorta am a huge Dark Tower fan, and the fight was Roland and Jake vs Vin and Elend. I thought to myself, "There's no way two Gunslingers could lose against this lame YA fantasy couple." Well a little while after that those characters stuck in my head for some reason until I finally decided to look them up. Then like half a day after reading about Vin I went and bought the whole Mistborn trilogy haha. The rest they say, is history. -

I'll celebrate it with my cat Aviendha waking me up at 3 am to cry over absolutely nothing. Just like every night :') -
I really like the Chandrian poem from The Kingkiller Chronicle. It gives me chills: "When the hearthfire turns to blue, What to do? What to do? Run outside. Run and hide. When his eyes are black as crow? Where to go? Where to go? Near and far. Here they are. See a man without a face? Move like ghosts from place to place. What’s their plan? What’s their plan? Chandrian. Chandrian. When the hearthfire turns to blue, What to do? What to do? Run outside. Run and hide. When your bright sword turns to rust? Who to trust? Who to trust? Stand alone. Standing stone. See a woman pale as snow? Silent come and silent go. What’s their plan? What’s their plan? Chandrian. Chandrian."

I made this one awhile back because I liked how Moiraine and Nynaeve are looking at Rand like he's gonna do something awesome even though he's just posing with Callandor.

Favorite cosmere character quote!

From Oathbringer said by Hoid/Wit: "The longer you live, the more you fail. Failure is the mark of a life well lived. In turn, the only way to live without failure is to be of no use to anyone. Trust me, I've practiced." -
Not really a meme, but I didn't know where else to post it. Just a funny thing from my Facebook memories about Warbreaker:

I'm 28 and overworked, so reading and video games are major stress relievers. Also why I love RPGs because they are basically interactive books. Fun fact, my sister and I are born three days apart but by two years, so we always celebrate our birthdays together.

A few years ago, before Towers of Midnight was announced people were guessing what the title would be on Reddit. Here's my favorite.

If you're not playing the Tales of Vesperia remaster then you are missing out on life -
Yeah I loved that game. I remember you fight Deadpool at one point on an oil rig (or the Raft I can't remember) and you could swing from absolutely nothing because it was kinda tongue in cheek. Noir gameplay was fun, but not my favorite of the 4. Peni is best girl
