  1. Moment’s over. “Not that I know. Let’s go ask Bellatrix.” He slid off the roof, his pewtermind helping him absorb the shock as he landed on his feet. “Come on down,” he called. “I’ll catch you.”
  2. I’m about halfway through The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. So far it’s in the running for my top five favorite books. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book that induces such a sense of wonder. And the writing? It’s beautiful.
  3. And from then on he lived on the streets.
  4. He hemalurgically spiked each of his patients.
  5. Chapter 5 is when the story really picks up. My nitpicks with the game are mainly with the field skills—which I hope we never see again—and how hard it is to get some blades. I don’t love the sidequests either. Despite my problems with it, however, I really love that game. The characters are great, the story is good, and the ending made me flip my lid. You’ll be very happy that you played the first game first.
  6. The ghanderflaffle empire was still rising.
  7. Nael opened his eyes and pulled away. “Oh, yeah.” He blushed, running a hand through his hair. Idiot, he said to himself, don’t mess this up.
  8. “I never was. He posed as my friend for a while, and being on Roshar I didn’t think much of it. And the Shardblade?” He summoned it, setting it beside them. “I found it. ”Honestly, I still have no idea where I am. Kal just kind of dropped me in here...but at least I have you to show me around.” He leaned in.
  9. “Is that where I am? He’s on Roshar. Kal, the kandra, was the one who brought me here.”
  10. “Yeah. I left Scadrial when I was 17 with my dad. My mom didn’t want to come, and she kept my sister. I haven’t seen em since.” There was something about Sam that Nael was drawn to. In all his life, he’d never met someone who seemed genuinely interested in him. And he was interested in her.
  11. Nael warmly smiled back. “What about your family? What are they like?”
  12. “You aren’t a bad person.” I hope. “What’s your power?”
  13. “Yep. Pewter. My mom’s from Scadrial, my dad from Roshar. I have a sister too, but I haven’t seen her in years. What’s an Epic?”
  14. “I’d love to. Though, I think I could learn a lot more from you than you could from me.”
  15. He put his arm around her. “Well, my last name is Haydawn, and I love climbing. Pretty rusting good at it too.” He smiled down at her. “What about you? What’s your story?”
  16. Nael sat down beside her, rubbing her back. He found himself mesmerized by her beauty—her hair draped over her shoulders, her smooth skin...
  17. Nael took her hand. “Life...with me?”
  18. Next came the Butterflutter the Seventh, with no hands, three feet, and some deadly tap dancing skills.
  19. Suffice it to say, sad kangaroos are a force to be reckoned with.
  20. Nael dramatically tossed his coffee over his shoulder, grabbing Sam’s hand and pulling her up next to him. “Gotcha.” Just a few feet away, his Shardblade dissolved into mist.
  21. Nael jumped to the window nearby, pushing it inward as to make it easier to stand in. Then he held his hand to Sam once again, hoping she would trust him. He certainly trusted himself.
