  1. Aeodin regarded the little girl, scrutinized her story, and examined the room. "It could've been the DA abducting someone for their... expirements. Justice send it's not so, for if it is, her mother will not be the same person she was. Of course, seems a little personal to be them. They usually take volunteers or people who will not be missed. It sounds as if the girl's mother was in on it somehow." He trailed off, looking thoughtful. @Ookla the Ring
  2. Hello and welcome to the shard! There are many people here willing to offer you cookies if you're feeling peckish, and if you like RP, come and join the alleyverse. I would stay away from pages that are about books you havn't read, as they are riddled with spoilers.
  3. "Well thats a good thing. I wonder, how old of a member do you have to be to start a guild? Just wondering, no reason of course."
  4. There are, but they almost never result in something lethal, and are usually resolved. I think that Asimov's rules are a good way to keep a nightblood in check.
  5. I can get behind the cookie. Eat it. Take it. Welcome to the shard, and I definitely recommend getting into the alleyverse.
  6. I think that all channelers should have oaths in place to prevent them from killing at random. Or some sort of pesky sense of honor that prevents them from taking part too much. Galvris is pretty powerful, but he has serious mental blocks and can be controlled by the weakest soothers/rioters. He also has the aforementioned pesky sense of honor to riegn him in.
  7. No, what I meant was this: All the thread that have stickies that explain the alleyverse could be combined into one.
  8. He looked to Rick, "yes, of course I do. What do you take me for?" Turning back to Solace he said, "probably not, but being a vigilante requires a special brand of crazy." Galvris sent flows of air to bind Solace head to foot. He then attempted to make a spirit block to block him off from his investiture. Spirit was never his strong suit, so the block fell apart. He wove fire and air to use healing methods. Healing was difficult, but he'd practiced quite a lot. He was successfully able to enter a healing flow into Solaces mind. He then proceeded to increase Solaces tiredness, his weariness. He grinned, it was almost like soothing. @Ookla the Meeker
  9. The only reason a channeler can be plausible is the fact that he has an extremely obvious weakness that's pretty easy to exploit. The mere fact that they can just wrap up anyone who challenges them with air and keep them immobile pretty much perpetually is OP. And it doesn't matter how weak you are, any strength level channeler can pull this off. For instance, Galvris's weakness is that any strength rioter could take control, due to the amount of spikes he has. As for a point guidelines, I'm opposed to this. While it would be great to be able to judge character's strength, it takes away any semblance of creative writing, and turns this into a roll of the dice. Plus, weaker characters wouldn't challenge characters just a few points above them, and the alleyverse would grow lethargic. Beyond that, it wouldn't eliminate the possibility for broken OP characters. While I can understand why this would be useful, I think it would harm more than help.
  10. "Ok. If you reply there, wouldn't it be moved to the top? And we should think about streamlining all of the intro threads into one. I mean, all those threads could be one 'welcome to the alleyverse' thread, and we'd just have another one on characters. And one describing recent events. Can get a little hard to keep track of stuff here."
  11. As soon as Sephtis appeared, Valdwen began tapping mental speed. When Aurell fired the bullets, Valdwen was ready. He tapped speed, and jumped in front of the bullet on it's course to Galvris. The bullet took him in the side and he looked towards Galvris. Galvris barely had time to react. He was almost able to make out Valdwen jumping in the path of the bullet, but he did see Valdwen collapse to the ground. His face contorted in pain and fury. I don't care how insane you are Solace, he thought, you don't kill my friends. I'm going to kill you Solace. The thought came to him unbidden, and he instantly regretted it. Justice wasn't dictated by one man. It was an ideal. Even still, he seized saidin, channeling more powerfully then he ever had before. For women, the relationship to the true source was an embrace, welcoming a friend. To men, it was a battle to the death. He channeled flows of air, and shaped a kind of shield. He then thrust it outward, tearing the room to pieces and flinging the walls twenty meters away. It didn't touch the men inside, though. Too much investiture. He carefully wove a ring of fire, earth and air. The result was a solid ring of fire surrounding him. He expanded it quickly and flung it towards Sephtis. It probably wouldn't kill him, but it would incapitate him long enough for captivity. He prepared flows of air to bind him.
  12. Aeodin chuckled, "Ahh, yes. Valdwen told me of inquisitors. It's those monsters that killed his parents, actually. And yes, hemalurgy has been an essential part of the alleyverse since day one. Inquisitors do exist here, but I suspect that they would not be able to contend with a vast majority of hemalurgic creations here."
  13. That's a good point, but currently, there are less opportunities at building a characters power. When I first started playing RP here, I felt like I was throwing a child into a whitespine's den and expecting it to succeed. The first character I ever challenged was Hellbent, because I had no idea the level of power that most characters had. Going into era three, the more powerful characters should definitely be the ones who are developed that way. Also, I find that gold and steel twinborn could be balanced, it just means keeping them from metal to compound or getting a chromium misting close. In fact, it seems a good idea to keep a leecher around for just such circumstances.
  14. AHH THE GOOD TIPIS. I ALWAYS FEEL REFRESHED AFTER SOMEONE CORRECTS A MASKATE OF MINE.
  15. Galvris held up a hand to forestall Aurell, "Allow me." He held up a hand, and his brow beaded with concentration. A moment later, a pale, molten, bar of pure fire shot from his hand, connecting with the door. An instant after the balefire hit the door, it melted away as if it had never existed. Galvris grinned like a madman, "Always wanted to use balefire in a social setting."
  16. "You're not a fool," Aeodin assured him, "hemalurgy is quite confusing until you get the hang of it." Aeodin got up, and walked towards the forge, displaying a surprising amount of vitality for one who had just gotten stabbed. "It appears we have an enemy among the DA," he continued, "Or at least one other guild that endorses hemalurgy. Might be the canton." He grunted as he sat down on a piece of rubble and started talking again, "Some sucker for investiture came up and stabbed me in an alleyway. He thought to take my connection to the Dor, though why I do not know. There were plenty of targets with more powerful, less subtle investiture. Fortunately I was able to activate a pre-made Aon Daa, which killed the thief. I then transported myself here." He reached up to the dagger protruding out of his chest, then paused. He drew Aon Iir in the air, and his muscles expanded, bulging beneath his long robes. With delicate hands, he reached up to the dagger, and in an impressive show of strength snapped off most of the extraneous metal. "Do you know how hard it is to dress with a length of metal in your chest?" He asked.
  17. Doesn't Kal have brown eyes? And why on earth would you not say Hoid?
  18. I love it when people throw there hats into the name! It just ensures that this thread will last longer and become the most glorious thread!!!!!!! DOW DOWN TO ME AND DESTROY EVIL!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. "So, when is this villainy going to happen?" Demanded Kaladin, "I'm getting rather bored. Or is it going on in another thread? I feel so behind the times."
  20. Galvris nodded, distractedly looking at the door again. The reason for his interest became apparent as a blurred shape moved through the doors. He stepped up to Galvris and, with blinding speed, slammed five coppery colored spikes into his chest in rapid succession. Galvris stumbled backwards, and the assailent unblurred, revealing himself to be a tall half-terris, from the looks of him. Galvris regained his feet, and instead of attacking this man, nodded to him. "Good work Galvris, were they from criminals?" Seeing the man's nod he continued, "I must say Valdwen, I didn't expect you to apply the spikes so... directly." A small hint of a smile showed on Valdwen's face, "I thought you would approve the prompt use of the investiture. My way, it didn't degrade any more than it had to. "Yes, yes, and I suspect you had your fun with it too." Chest still a bloody mess, he turned to the rest of the room, "hello everyone, meet Valdwen. He's my accomplice in justice. Valdwen meet Max, Althea, and Aurell. They are planning on how to bring down Solace, a worthy goal, wouldn't you say?" As he passed through the introductions, he pointed at each person respectively.
  21. Distantly, the sound of criminals being executed could be heard. Curiously, the headsman was using copper spikes to do the grisly deed. Mental fortitude was always fifty-fifty with criminals, but these were the most stable of the lot. The sounds of screaming, dying men slowly drifted down through the room...
