Sanguine Wielding - A Magic System for a Novella I'm Writing
Inky posted a topic in Creator's Corner
This is a magic system I've had in the works for a while now! It's for a novella I'm writing called Darkest Night. Sanguine Wielding Sanguine Wielding is a magical art used most notably in the Dimmi Archipelago of northern Rillo. It is a power passed on genetically, from parent to child. The user of the magic, known locally as a Wielder, uses the power by drawing energy from one of five powerful demons, known as the Insur Council. Each power source gives the Wielder a different ability, and each Wielder is born with the power to draw from only one of them. When a Wielder uses the power of the Kings, they enter a state of mind known as Manic State. When in Manic State, the Wielder's instincts take control, and the Wielder acts less controlled, with their base personality traits left unchecked. The longer the Wielder is in Manic State the more intense the instincts become. After leaving Manic State, a Wielder will fall into a depressive state that varies in length depending on the time spent in Manic State. Powers As stated previously, there are five different powers a Wielder can have, each connected to a different member of the Insur Council. Bone Giant Wielders connected to the Bone Giant can control and manipulate their bones and muscles while in Manic State. They can use their bones as weapons that protrude from their body or grow lager into towering figures up to twenty-five feet tall. Riverman Wielders connected to the Riverman can manipulate blood. They can use their blood or the blood of others as a weapon, suffocating or pushing away enemies. Chaos King Wielders connected to the Chaos King can create illusions of any of the five senses, although only two can be combined at once. HarvestIady Wielders connected to the Harvestlady can control the bodies of the dead. Their exact control lessens with each raised corpse added to their army. Silver Glow Wielders connected to the Silver Glow can purify a small area of any magical traces, but only once Crossing the Border Wielding is dangerous. Using it can become addicting, and the depressive episode that follows it can be unhealthy for the Wielder. This cycle can reach incredibly dangerous levels. If a Wielder stays in Manic State for too long, the depressive state that follows will put the Wielder in a state where they can only act while in Manic State, for the depression becomes too overbearing. The Wielder, if not stopped, will stay in Manic State for so long their mind shatters, and the broken Wielder's powers are vastly increased and they go on a rampage, destroying everything they can see for about a day. When the day is up, or the Wielder is knocked unconscious, they will lose all of their powers and become an insane, blubbering mess -
Kelsier Hemalurgied a few Ferrings and ran off to the South? Also possibly some Connection was farmed for the inheritance but don't quote me on that

Theory: Unity was killed by Honor and Odium
Inky replied to ginger_reckoning's topic in Stormlight Archive
Ah. Well, that aside, Unity is not a Shard in the Rosharan system, or probably a Shard at all (at the moment)- 33 replies

That's why I said "could easily be" and not "is"- 33 replies

Truthwatcher and Stoneward spren are the ones we're missing the names of, I think. We have all the others (besides Bondsmith spren which don't really have a unifying name)

Unity could easily be a new name for Honor. Shardic intents can change, if only a bit.- 33 replies

I doubt there was another Shard on Ashyn... especially because of how it was "Destroyed by Surges", which implies the magic was proto-Surgebinding- 33 replies

The Emperor's Soul, with OB being a close second
-
I don't think Mraize is a Dysian. Why would he be?
-
I'm pretty sure that's canon but Brandon has said he won't be focusing on anything outside of the Cosmere
-
How can a gas giant = gem? Unless the dimaonds that tend to rain on gas giants is what you mean
-
( @Mason WheelerI get the joke it's just. Really bad)

I'm pretty sure Spiritual Adhesion is going to be brutally OP. Like I said elsewhere, a theory I have is that it can be used to pull C-Shadows like the Fused out of bodies and place them elsewhere
-
I have a theory (well, more of a desire) that Dai-Gonarthis shows up sooner rather than later. And Chemoarish. And Ba-Ado-Mishram. I JUST WANT TO SEE UNMADE

I think gloryspren can't talk, period
-
He's Third Oath so I mean naturally he'll probably get it eventually. Unless the Stormfather is anti-plate like he is anti-blade
-
Book 5 is going to be "A satisfying ending" according to Brandon and could end the whole series there if he wanted to

I've actually had a prediction like this myself hahah! Would be a great time for Rlain to bond the Sibling.
-
Pretty self-explanatory My predictions: - Kaladin and Dalinar get Shardplate - Rlain bonds the Sibling - Venli gets to at least the second Ideal - Moash still sucks - Shallan starts actually trying to fix herself - BAM gets released - More Unmade appearances to go along with that - Singer lore bombs left, right, and center - Renarin learns about his Voidish powers more What're your predictions?

That as well
