  1. I'm going to guess that odium's champion will be kaladin.
  2. Ruin *had* a big black lake, which was mentioned in the logbook. Rashek buried it underground.
  3. I believe it's only the area of overlap, yeah. Don't think you could exit a speed bubble, though, since the issue is (in my view) crossing over the interface between them - and you're sitll going to end up going through the edge. Anyway Electrum: it's based on what you are going to do. Kindasorta. Using it as a method of detecting traps, trying fifty hypothetical combinations for a safe at once... I could see that working. Aluminum: Brandon said it purges other influences, and can eventaully be used to purify the body of other things as well Gold: same as electrum, there's a lot of interesting things you can do in terms of information gathering if you make the potential past self less irritatingly random. Also, maybe if you can overcome the disorientation you could do something sorta like soulstamps. Atium: Nobody's had the ability to practice with it. I assume that being able to regulate just how much future sight you actually needed at that exact moment, pulsing it on and off, you could probably dramatically lengthen the time you can spend burning it. Nicrosil: If alumnium can let you purge internal impurities, you might be able to flare up the toxins in other peoples' bodies, instead of their metals.
  4. Just put a shardblade on a stick. BAM! It's a shardspear. Give me some duct tape and I'll have it ready in a jiffy. And as a bonus? Kaladin won't have to touch the darn thing.
  5. Are they solely drawn to the element, though? If so, what's up with Syl fighting off the deathspren?
  6. As far as I understand, the mists are still part of Preservation - there isn't any splitting of the shard going on.
  7. I suppose in theory if people keep filling the metalmind and then dying, eventually the capacity of the metalmind will be filled up with inaccessible feruchemical abilities.
  8. Here's the bit I was thinking of.
  9. Dick Clark?
  10. Check the warbreaker annotations about this - they mention it's a question left unsolved until Nightblood, but the hints are that it's something more involved than 'believe that you can'.
  11. Of course, the question I've always had is... if this is a form of 'connection', can you monkey around with it using duraluminum feruchemy?
  12. Eh, I suppose. The way I was reading it was that the connection to preservation and power of creation was the fundamental effect; becoming an allomancer was just the natural result of that happening.
  13. Here are a couple other quotes about it. It looks like Lerasium is more than just 'rewrites spiritweb'.
  14. 1) Lerasium was, IIRC, congealed out of the well of ascension's power by the Lord Ruler. Don't have source on that. 2) Granting powers as a mistborn isn't the sole use of lerasium "By burning it you gain access to those powers. It rewrites your spiritual DNA, and there are ways to do really cool things with lerasium that I don't see how anyone would know. Were most Mistborn to just burn it, it would rewrite their genetic code to increase their power as an Allomancer." Aside from secondary stuff, we don't know the ratio. If it's something like, say, 1% lerasium and 99% iron? Could be worth it.
  15. Hoid actually means H-oid. They are clones of the original H.
  16. Eh, technically with a MRI and a lot of practice you MIGHT be able to contort your mental state to a point where you got an aon shape represented using blood flow in the brain or something. It'd just be a terrible idea on every level.
  17. The fact that you can use tools to draw things is obvious. After all, an elantran can write with a pen, right? He doesn't have to constantly abrade dead skin off his fingertips to write in the air, either. As long as it's the 'act' of writing, regardless of the method used it counts. yes, that means an elantrian with a laser gun could put an aon on the moon. DDDeal with it.
  18. I meant more along the lines of 'they may have been training surgebinding' instead of 'they may have been fighting other humans with surgebinding'.
  19. Unless that was training, of course.
  20. Could also be that Vivennia, unaccustomed to botany, mistook a similiar plant.
  21. I *think* Preservation used his cognitive to seal Ruin's cognitive. If Ruin couldn't control his own power, it didn't really matter if he had more of it, and that gave the atium leak thing time to work.
  22. I don't think we've actually seen it.
  23. Honestly, the way stormlight acts when people breathe it in is very similar to Vin taking in the mists. Especially the whole 'coming out of the pores' thing. I'm guessing they're both the gaseous forms of shardic power.
  24. Sazed seemed to believe that suppressing feruchemy was probably the most practical thing to do. Otherwise you end up with people who have an unbroken (but Ruin-corruptable) chain of memories going back to the beginning of the Empire. If you're a man who's trying to keep secrets, that's a bad thing.
  25. Well, the "Endowment's gift of a superpowered Breath would come down, strike the Lifeless" kinda implies that it's not a transformation.
