  1. We have Word of Brandon that there are potential weird effects from going between shardworlds. I'll search for the quote later.
  2. Problem is, that's one of the few rules that we DO have solid Word of Brandon on.
  3. Definitely aren't.
  4. So... hmmm. Now I'm curious about what element atium would be if it didn't have the spiritual aspect attached. My intuition says aluminum.
  5. Would you prefer to have a constant IQ of 80, or a fluctuating IQ of 80+3d20?
  6. I doubt there are enough skaa with mistborn-level potential to make any difference in the statistics.
  7. The annotation says that the mists are snapping people who have lower-than-normal allomantic potential. Mistborn all have strong allomancy.
  8. Could be a thickness issue. We know that different materials block the iron/steel lines to different extents. Just like piercing your body with metal, aluminum is probably just very good, but not perfect.
  9. Brandon's stance has changed on this over time. Twitter (2009) There's also this interview from Oct 2010 The Tor Q&A from the previous post was from Jan 2011 And, while this is a bit of a joke, it kind of goes along with the 'he's revised how the system works, and now you can burn other dudes' spikes' stance So, you know how Vin and Elend sold the Lord Ruler's atium bracers? Kinda wonder what happened to them. I mean, they're made of atium, basically all anyone does is burn that stuff.
  10. I asked at a recent signing if someone who isn't from Scandrial could use Hemalurgy. I got a RAFO for it.
  11. Use an air rifle with nonmetallic (explosive?) bullets.
  12. The info about how hemalurgy works indicates that.
  13. I dunno, if you can steal a shardblade you might be able to steal a spren bond. Of course, the spren could probably break it as normal, losing its sapience.
  14. I think this is the biggest source of info on hemalurgy It isn't gender-dependent. There's a little bit of body focus relationship. And weirdness with burning I personally think it makes more sense for your personal spiritweb to correspond directly to your hemalurgic overlay... that might just be me, though. It seems inelegant to have multiple different spiritual maps of someone, you know? Also "Or, in some cases, changing the spirit to look like something else, which has the immediate effect of distorting the body and transforming it into a new creature." That sounds a LOT like Forgery. The fact that he followed it up with "Hemalurgy is a very brutal way of making changes like this" kinda implies that there are less brutal methods.
  15. Ah yes, we are well aware of the mysterious cabal of writers collectively using 'Brandon Sanderson' as a penname.
  16. Meanwhile... Axies Ketchum has just added a few more species to his sprendex. Soon, very soon, he will have caught them all, and become a spren master. But from the forest a familiar theme starts playing, and a pair of suspicious figures jump out of the bushes! Prepare for trouble! And make it double. To protect the world from desolation! To unite all people within our nation! To denounce the evil of truth and love! To extend our reach to the stars above... Kaladin! Dalinar! Team Radiant, blast off at the speed of light! Surrender now, or prepare to fight! Sylphrena, that's right!
  17. True, but they *are* looking for auras in general... though, come to think of it, the only scene I remember that in is the one where Vivenna is in the court and sees Vasher from behind... IIRC, she had already gotten Breath at that point. I can't find a normal breath level PoV where anyone notices it. There's Old Chapps' PoV But he doesn't seem to see anything special about nightblood's aura... then again, it's at night... Both Hoid's sword and Nightblood are described as being 'silver', but that isn't exactly conclusive.
  18. I assume it's a matter of practice and raw power to be able to see the lines. We've got Kar's PoV using his Inquisitorsense... 'Most allomancers' couldn't sense them kind of implies that there are some who can.
  19. I'm not sure that the lightning isn't just part of soulcasting.
  20. Technically that allows for some to be stronger than others from the start (if not hugely so).
  21. Ah, but that's because Odium's shardworld was modern Earth all along. You maniacs!
  22. So while searching for something else entirely, I found an ad online for exercise equipment that touted how great it would be for a mistborn to use it. Here's a transcript if the site goes down: Okay, but what other cosmere products would be advertised on late night TV? "Have you or someone you know been diagnosed with the Reod? The Reod is caused by exposure to Elantris, and the civic leaders and construction workers made a concerted effort to hide the dangers of Elantris from the public, while at the same time profiting heavily from the sale and manufacture of harmful Aon-based products. Those suffering from the Reod can seek compensation from the Elantrians by hiring a competent Reod lawyer. Don't wait, call now!" "And next up, we've got a wonderful Shin assassin at a bargain price. And as an added bonus, we'll throw in a wireless control rock absolutely free!." "Aloemancer: Soothing relief you can trust! Gives you a bronze tan you have to see to believe!
  23. The exact quote is "With proper manipulation, it might be theoretically possible to tap someone else’s metalminds..." So... yeah, that's about all we know.
