  1. Here's the whole quote Thing is, Kaladin's pain vanished well before the sphere was infused, and he felt some sort of power going through him before the sphere lit up. It's entirely possible that you can get stormlight raw from the highstorm, but Kaladin just lacks the training or failed to try. When he picks up stormlight it's a very similar sensation to the one described here.
  2. It's just the gem. Implanting things into the skin probably could have some issues with soul interference, similar to how stuff that touches blood in mistborn is harder to push/pull.
  3. Yeah, you can fully appreciate your face getting beat in
  4. Brandon does put things in with the intention to tie them together later on, like the pool in Elantris. Heck, there's a mention from May 2011 that he still hadn't decided how many shardworlds there would be, yet.
  5. Thing is, Odium's goal is to knock /everyone/ else down. He doesn't want to absorb shards because he's fine with his current personality.
  6. Interviews. It's the bacteria one
  7. Okay, using the 19 known metals, plus a lerasium+atium alloy, there are 21^2-1 +3 = 443 combinations possible of twinborn (counting 'no metal' as a metal to cover ferrings and mistings, subtracting out the double 'no metal' combination, then adding the two full ones, plus a feruchemistborn. Thus, it is not only possible, it's very likely that you'll get your toes stepped on for any combination. You get a little more leeway if you add in lerasium+atium+whatever alloys, but I have no idea what you'd call them (malharmonium?). So I'm going to say Be a twinborn, with odiummetal as my feruchemical ability (since nobody's going to pick that), and lerasium as my allomantic ability (so I get a nice chunk of lerasium, and mistborn powers from burning it). Best part is, two hours of lerasium burning is WAY more than I need to be a mistborn, so I can pull a Hoid and just run off with the excess.
  8. It's certainly possible that there's an uneven distribution as well. We really don't know a lot about allomantic inheritance. Here's everything I've managed to collect on the subject:
  9. Here's the exact quote It's possible that it has to do with however people now get snapped (maybe coinshots are more likely to be able to preserve their lives by using the power, if that's how it works). That would mean that more potential mistings of the other metals haven't snapped yet. Could also be that people with obvious powers like steel, iron, and pewter are more public - a soother, seeker or rioter would find their powers more useful if people didn't know about them. We know that apparently people don't like to publicly admit to having the lamer powers, so gnats, augurs, pulsers, and possibly copperclouds, might be under-represented for that reason.
  10. His weakness is epics wielding guns. Daddy-o actually turned into an epic moments before he fired - too soon for him to reveal his evilness.
  11. House of Ashes has some fairly serious issues (though I appreciate the effort that went into it), so I don't like to use it for a reference. In particular, when you burn gold you should immediately see from both perspectives (see: Vin's use of it).
  12. It's all-but-confirmed. From reddit: That said there are different types of spren.
  13. IIRC, Sazed is also tapping speed at the same time, though.
  14. There's enough time to buy or sell the body, at least http://www.brandonsanderson.com/annotation/378/warbreaker-Chapter-Four-Part-2 Incidentally, the earlier comparison of returned to vampires always makes me wonder if you could steal their divine breath via an awakened wooden stake to the heart.
  15. I'd kind of prefer to not have a race of slaves where the black ones are inherently evil. It would seem a bit... yeah.
  16. I'm sure he can find something to occupy his time
  17. It's actually plutonium. Hoid is building a bomb.
  18. Going by the RPG, brass can't set things on fire ever, which I think is kind of dumb. I assume that's just game balance, though. One of my headcanon things is that the Lord Ruler signed the Kandra Contract by compounding brass and literally melting his fingerprint into the metal plate. During a fight it's probably better to limit, yeah.
  19. A normal drab is only slightly less colorful - it's hard to notice to the untrained eye. A Returned drab, on the other hand, is completely colorless. Something's weird with that.
  20. Tin allomancy only goes up to hearing heartbeats from a few feet away on a still day. Feruchemy generally does a better job of protecting you from the effects of your own enhancements, though. The RPG lists '90 charges' for tin feruchemy as "hear well enough to hit someone with an arrow through a wall at five hundred yards in complete darkness." Thing is, that'd take way too long to accumulate to be super useful on a pure tin feruchemist. As would trying to track by smell (incidentally - 20 charges to track like a bloodhound? That's CRAZY low). True, but I think double tin offers significantly more synergy than, say, double electrum or double bendalloy. Trying to draw a line between 'has both abilities' and 'is an ability compounder' seems kinda pointless. It should at least be a +2, and I can make an argument for a tin compounder's total ability being about even with an iron compounder. Bronze might warrant a bump to +2 for compounders as well. While feruchemial bronze alone is one of the least useful abilities (since you only get 8 hours of awake time for every 8 hours spent in a trance, instead of 16 hours like you'd do sleeping without feruchemy), copmounding is pretty nice. Having an effective lifespan 50% longer than anyone else probably translates to an overall increase in skill and experience. And that's without any 'more awake than awake' benefits... I'd assume that compounding wakefulness is exactly opposite sleep deprivation, and sleep dep causes all sorts of problems. You would probably get a nice grab bag of stuff... faster reflexes, better awareness, higher strength, disease resistance, etc, combined with pretty much unlimited endurance. It's not pewter, but still probably a +2.
  21. Yep. But the necro is from 2013. I'd offer props to Link, but I honestly don't remember seeing him on the fora.
  22. We actually first heard about this back in 2011
  23. Yeah but the blood would've lost its color as well.
