"But the monster survives?" Mart asked, all concern regarding Tom forgotten. "If it's not evil it has to survive. Not like those, like those, like the ..." He started to cry quietly, muffled his sobs with his bear, still clinging to Alask. Apologetically Lena looked over to Alask but let Mart stay where he was. No need to hurl him around needlessly. "I can take him?" She offered.

"I'm not sure." Jessy looked around, finally managed to stand. "We need to be careful. The air could be poisonous, or the plants." She walked over to him, looked out of the window. "We have to expect that everything wants to kill us." With a sigh she turned around and started to search for her gun, looked for other things they might want to take.

Sagitta nodded, held out her hand for him to take. She could accept it that way. Forcing her body away from the carriage she straightened, looked into his eyes. "Verbal or not - to me it is binding. We rarely have written contracts in Ta'e'ilo." Her leg hurt and she shifted her weight. "I will keep our bargain, you have my word on it." He probably wouldn't know, but it was the truth. She would keep their bargain and should the price be her life. ====== @Lunamor

Light, fire, then they hit the ground. Jessys head was thrown backwards and she closed her eyes. When she opened them again she realized she must have passed out at some point. Feeling dizzy she groped for the safety belt, undid the straps. Falling out of her seat she landed on the ground. "Are you alright?" She asked the boy and pushed herself up.

Jessy grabbed the suit when it suddenly flew in her direction. Putting it on was difficult, the pod was shaking badly and she was thrown around several times before she finally managed to close the suit. Her side hurt, but for now there was nothing she could do about it. Gravity was going away, she had mere seconds left. Calmly she pushed herself over to the free chair and grabbed the straps, checked that Cheh was strapped in safely, then she secured herself. It wasn't the first time she was caught in that situation and thankfully her training kicked in. Panic only led to mistakes. She would have to deal with her missing equipment later. For now she would have to make sure they would survive. Her eyes darted over the control panel again. There was nothing she could do. Nothing. Not without understanding this pod. Leaning back she gestured for Cheh to do the same she tried to relax. their lives were in the hand of the whoever had programed the emergency routine now.

Lena mouthed, 'was killed today' when she Alask's questioning glance. She'd seen the corpse of the girl somewhere in the entry hall of the school. She reached over for Mart, but he seemed fine for now, looked at Alask with wide eyes. That was good she guessed. She took a bit of her own apple, but left her hand on Mart's shoulder. "Thanks." She said quietly to Alask and waited for him to go on with his story.

"There are no heros on a battlefield." She sounded bitter, raw, but she didn't care. "But you can't know, and you can be grateful that you don't. Pray that you never learn this." Her eyes darted to the boy, then back to Price. He was like her. Like she had been. Patriotic believing in his country at all costs. Like she did until today. You had to believe in your country. Sagitta knew, that if the boy had been a nomad, she'd might have killed him already. "You serve your country." She whispered when she realized that indeed she had been wrong. There was no good way. No better way. It all lead to death and blood on her hands. Even if she stopped swinging the sword, she would still kill. She would only change the when. Stumbling two steps away from him, she held on to the carriage, removed her weight from her injured leg. Exhaustion finally won and she had to lean against the cabin to remain standing. Feeling hot she wiped some sweat from her forehead. Sit down, if only he'd finish his business, so that they could finish theirs and she could finally sit down.

Disappointed she closed her eyes, looked at him with a tad of pity beneath the other emotion. "There is no good or evil in war." She told him quietly. "The moment you stand on a battlefield you are all murderers. Who do you think your revenge will reach, when you enslave a conscripted boy? You said you were different. You stand here for your country, to fight. But the way you do something is as important as what you want to achieve." Folding the sheet of paper she handed it back to him, then stepped away from the boy. "I thought that maybe you are different. That you found a way to serve without wading in blood. That you are strong enough to look over prejudices and fight for your country in a good way. In a better way." "But, it seems like I was wrong."

Sagitta's eyes stayed with Price, nothing indicating, that she heard him, that she understood. Conscripted. She'd heard about that, knew that some of those standing beside her weren't their on their free will, but because their families sent them. And you did what your family told you to do. "Why do you fight the Cahayans?" She asked him, her voice still low, so low that hopefully the other man wouldn't be able to understand. She looked at him intensly, her body tense.

I really like your idea @ZincAboutIt It offers many possibilities and plot lines for different characters!

Althea turned to Aylitha and wordlessly offered a canteen full of water. They could care about guild differences after this.... little problem. "We should probably try to find out, if there are other squads like this one. See if we can take them by surprise." She stated and then looked at Max. Injured. Worry grabbed her heart and she wished she could do something, but she couldn't. Healing was an art she'd never learned. Press your hands on the bleeding wound and call for a healer. @kenod @I think I am here. ================= Mike screamed in fear, grabbed his knife and jumped towards the beast. There was no way out, no way to escape. But he wouldn't cower here and wait for death to grab him. He could at least try to do something more than run uselessly around. With another scream he jumped upwards, his knife aiming for the body of the beast, of the awful creature. Buy time. All he had to do was buy time for Wes and Tels to finally kill that thing. @RayOfSunshine

"The seats." She shouted at him. "Sit down, strap yourself in. Now!" Her fingers pointed at one of the seats in front of the control panel. Hastily she hurried to the wall, looked through the suits. Too small, too large, too large, too large. Taking one of those that looked too large she was about to open it, when she pod shook in the air and she was thrown around, hit another wall with her back and fell to the ground. The wohle pod was shaking, shaking badly.

"I can't help you." She shook her head. She couldn't not here, not now. He had to see the cloths, had to understand, that she wasn't the one making decision here. "It's the price of fighting." She told him simply, then looked at Price. "He says his instinct is creativity." Her translation missed a part, but she figured that they understood the rest of it, from the way the man spoke, from his shaking voice. A part of her wanted to ask Price to let the teen go, to send him back, but a look in his face was enough to know, that he wouldn't listen. Hate. He hated the Cahayan. Not because of himself, but because of the murals. Because of everything he had been told. "Have you ever seen a battlefield?" She asked quietly, only for Price to hear.

"He goes into the forst?" Mart asked excitedly. "They always go into the forest." His hands clutched his bear tighter, suddenly his voice broke and he pressed himself against Alask's body. "But he won't die? Not like Mercy?"

Thanks a lot! Then I got it right So in that case, could we maybe change one of his colours to green? Brown and bronze look so similar.

There. The button looked slightly similar, yes it bore the same symbol. Hopefully that pod was programmed with as much security protocols than the ones she was used to. It would reducs the chance that she killed them. Taking a deep breath she pressed the button and some of the lights turned green. "Emergency landing protocol started." Turning around she saw Cheh holding a suit in his hands. "Perfect." Rushing over to him she tried to figure out how to open it. Huge, heavy, not like the slender, practical armor she was used to. Didn't matter. They had to work with what they had. Finally it was open and she held it out for Cheh to climb into.

"Thank you." Surprised she started to move towards the bus, looked around for James and Ben. "That wouldn't have been neccessary." But she grinned happily. A hammer. "Like those dwarfs. I think I'll be brilliant with a hammer. The next Voidbringer better wear warm shoes, They shall tremble in fear when they see my hammer." "Did you name it already?"

Sagitta nodded, then she translated the document. Not wordly, but she was sure she managed to get the sense across. Without pausing she added something at the end, replied to the man's begging. "They plan to test your instinct. See what you can do and what you can't." His words, how he begged, she was tethering between despising his reaction, and telling him to flee. When you fought in a war you knew what would happen. That you could die. The man was unfortunate, he hadn't managed to die, so here he was. Sad, but just the way things were. There was nothing but war, nothing but fighting and killing and then killing some more. Recalling Price's words she thought about Ta'e'ilo, how they treated their prisoners. Better? Maybe. They had them work as well. In the quarries, in the foundries. Most died sooner than later. Still to see him, was different than knowing what was done. She'd stood guard over prisoners before. But most of the time, she had been elsewhere, in the camp, on the battlefield. Looking t him she realized that it had been years, since she had been home, since she'd seen anything of her country but the front. Fighting for Ta'e'ilo. Dying for Ta'e'ilo. There had to be another way. Somehow. There had to be an alternative.

"I doubt I'd be able to repeat that." Shana shrugged. "You're stronger, a lot stronger. the moment you force me fight without my weapon, I'm at a disadvantage. But we can gladly try again." She shot him a wry smile. "Though maybe tomorrow. I doubt I'll do anything but stumble over your foot today."

"Maybe." Jessy started to looked around, then focused again on the panel. "Can you search for suits like cloths, but with helmets. We know nothing about that planet, nothing. It could be poisonous, or the air unbreathable." She asked him with a vague gesture around the escape pod then the slowly pushed a button. The information on the screen changed. Showed a grafic she thought she might be able to understand. More red lights started to blink and she looked at the grafic, tried to interpret what she saw. The pod wanted her to do something. Press a button, activate a routine. Something like that. She stared at the strange letters and tried to remember them, then looked for a fitting button on the panel itself.

Sagitta took the parchment and read it slowly. They really were a bureaucrativ lot, these Tühine. The man was a prisoner of war. They could do to him whatever they wanted and nobody would care. It was the same on all sides. Her eyes rested on the man for a while, when she suddenly realized, that she'd been a prisoner of war as well. Kidnapped, but also a prisoner of war. Her fingers shook when she held the parchment out for Price to see. "What do these words mean exactly?" She asked and pointed at 'neccessary', 'Addendum' and 'Mercury'. "I can only attempt a more or less accurate translation, if I'm sure I understood it correctly."

Mart nodded. "If it's not scary." He strightened and waved over at Lena, who was still writing her list, the contents of her bag scattered all over the kitchen. "You have to come here and listen." He told her and Lena laughed, but grabbed two apples and walked over to them. Smiling she caressed Mart's head, then settled on a stool next to Alask, offered him an apple. "We're listening."
