  2. Shana sat down on the sofa next to his. She used a long piece of cloth and wrapped her arm, the last thing she wanted was to ruin the cushions. "Sorry." She smiled wryly at Everest, "today was weird." With a sigh she took a piece of cake and bit into it. Delicious, as always. Without Leona, the world would be a place with a lot more grey in it. "Okay, so some background information." She thought about it for a moment, wondered where it was best to start. "I moved into this house years ago. There were always younger people with - special abilities here, mostly Knights Radiant. Fewer, but over the time more came, others went-" she made a vague gesture. "As I mentioned before most have some kind of troubled past, so this place is a little like a sanctuary to many of us. It most certainly is for me. Nobody looks at you weirdly when you practice a surge, or when you talk to an invisible spren." Eating more cake she made a short pause to swallow. "There have always been reports of Voidbringers, of people working against us, and now and then there was a fight -" she pointed at her cloths, "not everybody, but some of us are trained to use weapons to fight as well." A shadow crept over her face at her own words and she swallowed set her half eaten cake aside. "The last weeks have been pretty intense. They discovered our house, obviously know where we live, we even had one fight here, outside of the house. Today we planned to add some security installments, to be warned should they come again." A thought crossed her mind and she switched topic. "Do you know how to interrogate someone? We still have a Voidbringer here, but nobody found the time to deal with them so far."
  3. "I love that idea." Lena bit into her apple. "We can simply ask what they are doing here, take a closer look. They are usually quite nice. I ended up in a battle with some of them once." She winked at Alask and walked over to one of the huge marines. "Hello!" she called out to him. "It looks really impressive what you have here, I have never seen anything like that before!" @Grey Knight
  4. Shana walked downstairs into the kitchen. She fetched cake for all of them, and then added a few more slices for everybody else who happened to be in the living room. "This is obviously our kitchen." She told Everest and made a slight shrug. "Sometimes we cook together, that is usually a lot of fun. And edible as well, most of the time." She tried to pick up the plate with both hands and frowned when pain made her set it down quickly again. "I'm sorry. Could you maybe take it. We just got in this fight and that woman fired a gun pointed at me." Annoyed by herself she bit on her lower lip, inhaling a little more stormlight to keep the pain at bay. It wasn't grave, she had been injured, really injured before, but it was exhausting. Every single battle ended with her injured, in need of help. It was wrong, so incredibly wrong. It was her place to protect to stand up for the others. She shouldn't bother them with her little aches here and there every now and then. "Living room? And then we can talk more comfortably, I think." @The_Archivist @Lunamor
  5. ================= Shana nodded and then made a gesture downstairs. "We could sit down in the living room." She suggested. "That's a far more comfortable place to talk." She took the first few steps, but waited to see if they would come along. "And you could maybe take care of my arm there?" She replied to Ben's unspoken question. She knew, that he hadn't spoken out of fear to disturb the conversation, although she failed to see why he would do that. Everest had greeted him after all. He wouldn't have done that, if he didn't want to speak with him. "And there's probably some cake as well. Leona makes the best cake, and usually so much that we have something around all the time." @The_Archivist @Lunamor ================= Mahad wrapped himself around Ben's arm, tried to see Glint. "Do you want to play?" he asked the other spren, resting his head on Ben's forearm. "We could see if we can find some birds."
  6. A lesson. Sagitta wasn't sure what she was supposed to have learned, although he had surprised her with the powder. Of course, that had been the lesson. Always expect foul play in a fight. It felt strange, that a god, the one god she had to protect had decided to teach her fighting lessons, but maybe he knew what she cared about, what was important for her. And she definitely had to train how to fight blinded. There hadn't been a need for it so far, but she had been lucky that he hadn't attacked her again. If he had, she wasn't sure if she would have been able to block his weapon. Making a mental note to tackle this sooner than later she slowly knelt on the ground. The fight was over. She could as well try to find her scabbard and take care of her sword. Coughing again she groped around the area where she had dropped it and then sheathed her sword. Placing it on the ground, she tried to see what Tion had thrown in her direction. Her eyes still hurt, watered and it took her a while to spot the little bottle. It was lying directly next to her left hand and when she picked it up, the glass was cool in her hand. Removing the stopper she lifted it to her lips and emptied it without hesitating. It was from a god after all. The liquid tasted a little like water, sour and bitter as if someone had forgotten tea leaves and now it was far too strong to drink. Grimacing at the taste she swallowed nonetheless and slowly got to her feet, walked over to Tion. She had to pause after two steps to cough and she moved slowly, not willing to miss a stone or two, but she made it savely over to him. Her head swam a little, she hoped whatever it was, would work soon. The powder really had been some nasty stuff. Opening her bag she removed a clean dressing and offered it to him, to wrap his wound. Or wounds? Blinking quickly she wiped her eyes, looked at his arm and leg. Wounds, she had hit him twice. Her fingers started to shake when she pulled a second dressing out of her bag, placed both a clean piece of cloth in front of him. The world in front of her eyes started to swim, to move and when she coughed her lunged felt as if they were on fire. Resting both hands on the ground she tried to stabilize herself, to wait till the dizzyness was over, her arms tingling, her legs starting to hurt. Groaning she fell to the side when the earth jumped up at her and dark spots danced in front of her eyes. Breathing became difficult, as if she was trying the inhale through a thick patch of cloth, and she lifted a hand, clawed at her throat, tried to get more air into her lungs. Pain spread from her stomach, slowly reaching out through her body, like lances impaling a body. Something closed around her arms, restricted her to a pole, while they slowly pushed the nail into her leg, asking about their defences, asking about her officers. Sagitta shook her head, dizzy from days without food and water, even the pain unable to shake her out of it. A part of her knew that it was wrong, that she was lying on the ground, that sharp stones poked into her back, that there was no tent, no fire heating up another sharp piece of metal. And yet it was the same. She was helpless, at the mercy of someone, something else, unable to do anything at all. Pain made her limbs twitch as if dancing a foreign, weird dance, her eyes open, but not seeing. Sagitta coughed again, tasted something metallic in her mouth, gagged when it clogged her throat and made it even harder to breathe. Her lips turned slightly blue, spit covering them like a failed attempt at make up. She had always pictured herself to die in a battle, to fight with blood and steel. To never yield and to die with honor. With a fearless heart, filled with pride, with confidence and the will to serve, to do what was right. But she wasn't on a battlefield she hadn't chosen dying over yielding. She was in a foreign country, deep behind the lines of her enemies. She had betrayed them, betrayed them all in a vain attempt to do what was right. Because she wasn't brave and she had no heart of steel. She was weak and she had been scared. Scared to return, scared to step into another battle. She had been scared of seeing the nomads again, of stepping into the explosion of another shaman, of hearing their screams while they gallopped at their lines with their horses. Scared of ropes closing around her wrists again, of being tied up and carried away. Of endless nights alone in darkness of the stream of questions, of the way she had given up. She was scared of looking into the eyes of those whose names she had spilled and those who had lost someone because of the insights she had given them. She had sworn to protect her country, to die for her country, for her oath, for her honor. And she had failed.
  7. Rating and Questions see above in green. ======================= Both are fine. Thank you! ========================== Of course. Rating see above in green. @18th Shard ================== Okay, I will move Nnimm. And of course, you can have up to five characters in total. So you can create a new character for this era and they most certainly can survive it! ================= Okay, thank you!
  8. ======================= Shana walked over to Ben, happy that he was here. "There's also a new girl in the living room." She told him, "I greeted her, but she was a little reserved, so I decided to give her some room for herself to arrive." With a slight shrug she gestured to her blood stained cloths. "I figured, I don't look really trustworthy right now." Turning her face towards Everest she added. "Okay, so should we finish the tour of the house first, and then maybe give you a quick rundown of our current situation? What we do and why we are here? It's totally up to you." "And if you want to, maybe you could tell us a little about yourself, how you found us and things like that? I'a curious person, but it's up to you." Her tone changed at the last words, turning serious and her grin vanished. "Most of us have some kind of troubled past, so you can tell us what you want to, and nobody will think less of you for leaving parts away." @The_Archivist @Lunamor
  9. Shana nodded, smiling at him. "Just put your stuff in there, and the room is yours." Mahad rushed off and she turned her head, saw Ben wait for them. If he didn't need Glint, she probably wouldn't see him again until they finished playing. "Did you already see the rest of the house?" She asked while turning around. "We also have a huge cellar with a training room, and then there's the living room -" She trailed off, decided to wait for his answer. "And this," she gestured to Ben instead. "Is the best person in the world. He can heal you, he's a genious at maths and physics and he regularly stops me from getting into trouble." Grinning at Ben she blew him a kiss. Lowering her voice she winked at him conspiratively. "Well, there isn't anybody here, who is not nice. I love them all dearly. But Ben is exceptional." @The_Archivist @Lunamor
  10. Sagitta felt her sword hitting something, heard some strange noises and then the horse was gone. She held her sword in a low guard, tried to listen for sounds of Tion, where he was going, from which side he would attack her. She shifted her weight to her back food, still trying to breath through the pain and the coughs, eyes watering so much she could barely see. Blinking her eyes several times, she managed to get a short glimpse of him, standing just out of range of her sword, obviously waiting for her to attack. He held something in his hands, but she had to close her eyes again, before she could determine what it was. The break in action, made her think, made her realise what she was doing, she was fighting a god, hurting a good. The god that had helped to create her nation. A nation she had sworn to protect. Slowly she lowered her sword, pointed its tip to the ground. "Why," she started her voice horase and immediatly had to make a break to stop herself from coughing again, "did you -" this time she couldn't stop the cough, her lungs hurting already, "do that?" she managed to finish her sentence and decided against adding anything else. It was no use, she could barely speak one sentence as it was.
  11. Hey sorry for the late reply, please feel free to tag me, if you submit a character. I check the thread regularly, but I reply a lot quicker if tagged. Your character looks good. If you want to, you can get started! ==================== I have to admit Era 5 Xanas is a little too strong. His weakness with the flashbacks, has a lot of "may(s)" and "sometimes", so I am not sure how heavily and often it will affect him in every days rp. Could you please add another weakness to balance him better?
  12. Shana smiled widely at him and followed him upstairs. "So here," she pointed at the room in the corner, "is the one overlooking the pool." she opened the door. "I would take it, because," walking over to the window she opened it and pointed outside. "if you are good at jumping I am sure you can hop into the pool from up here." Turning around to him, she gave a slight shrug. "But my room is special as well, and I won't give it up for anything in the world." She gave him a slight wink. "I've got a tree in front of my window, so I can climb outside, when I want to." Heading back out of the room, she gestured along the hallway, pointing at several other doors. "They are all free as well, you can simply take a look. Most of them are the same shape and size, and we have several bathrooms we share, but there are enough, you rarely have to wait." She walked over to one of the bathrooms and opened the door. "That's one of them. Just clean up after yourself and you're set. Oh and that room is mine." she gestured to another door, also leading to a room set in a corner. It's door was covered by several animals that had been carefully burnt into the wood. "Like I said, my spren loves to paint and to decorate everything." ================== @Lunamor
  13. "That's great!" Shana smiled brightly at him. "If you head upstairs with me, I could show you the empty rooms and you can pick one." Lowering her voice conspiciously, she grinned. "There is even one free, in the corner overlooking the pool." Mahad dispersed into a cloud again and rushed off. Maybe to play with another spren somewhere in the house. "But there are others as well, just take a look and then decide which one you like."
  14. Sagitta lifted her blade to meet his in the air, deflecting it easily. She had no idea how to fight sitting on a horse, but years of fighting mounted invaders had taught her a few things about how to deal with a foe sitting on a worse. One was, that they nearly always aimed for the head. She followed her motion up with another one, this time focusing on his weapon arm, as it was close to her. She noticed his other hand, withdrawing the wineskin, but she was already moving, and her weapon was too heavy to change its course quickly. She left it where it was, moving towards his arm, turning her attack into a surprised mess would be worse. She would simply have to deal with, whatever he was about to do. When he dumped the powder in her direction, she had a short moment to wonder what exactly he was aiming for, before she started to cough. It made her throat burn, and her lungs hurt when she accidently inhaled some of it, her eyes immediatly watering and burning. She hadn't expected this, hadn't heard or seen such a substance before. Blinded she closed her eyes, tried to protect them as good as possible.
  15. "Most of us." She nodded and opened her hand for Mahad. Her spren followed her invitation always happy to show off and shaped his body like a tiny litte dragon made of smoke. "This is Mahad." She introduced him. "Most of the brunt patches on the wall are his." Her eyes moved over to the little bunny that Mahad had decorated one of the walls with. "I have to admit, I have no idea what a Feruchemist is. What exactly can you do?"
  16. Hello everybody, we decided to start the next era on May 15th That should give everybody ample time to finish current plots. Please leave us a note in the character thread which characters you would like to use next era. If you neccessary, please update your character sheets so that we can look them over. Thank you!
  17. Sagitta noted the way he turned his body, how his muscles tightened and reacted without thinking about it. His rapier, whereever it had come from, was in his hand, his body already moving towards her, aiming for her upperbody. She reached for her sword, closed her hand around the scabbard and moved to the left, to throw herself of the horse and avoid the attack. Instead the mare moved, startled by the sudden action, throwing her forward. Sagitta lost her balanca, didn't try to hold one, catching the rapier with her chest and arm while falling forward. She softened the blow with her instinct, accepted the thin bloddy line it drew over her skin. Then she hit the ground. Her arm hurt when she landed upon it, rolled over it and she grunted, pushed herself up to her feet again easily. It was hard to get back to your feet when you wore armour, but she didn't and nearly surprised herself with how easy and fast she moved. Eyes focused on Tion she finished drawing her sword, let the scabbard fall to the ground and attacked. Her weapon was long, long enough that she could easily reach him, his hip and stomach, despite the horse and she aimed high, aimed at him, not at the animal.
  18. Some general feedback: I really liked it. It hooked my up quickly, and I was able to understand what was going on and to understand the character's action easily and quickly. It spoke to me and made me feel with them. With a little more details, but not really sorted:
  19. It is. I had to open it on my computer, ot be able to read it. On my mobile it also only showed me a white background.
  20. Let's head outside first. Althea made a quick gesture towards the Underling. I would prefer to get him to safety and then we are free to explore. He's one of mine, and I can't leave him alone for the DA to prey upon. But first, as long as they were here she could at least take a few samples to work with. They could always come back, but then you never knew what would happen, especially not with the DA nearby. She walked over to some of the mushrooms and carefully knelt down, took a piece of it. She hurried a little, didn't want to keep Max and Wes waiting too long for her, but to miss anything of this would be awful. In the end she she inhaled, created another cage where is was easy enough to be seen and placed a little food inside, attaching a note to the top of it. For Karin. We agreed to take one Kalea each, so I hope you won't find this cage empty. Althea She didn't doubt Karin would find it, the woman had wanted to spend more time down here as well and the moment she started to head back she would stumble over it. It was the best she could now, without heading back into the cave and arguing with whoever was left there. "I am ready." she told Max and tapped the stormlight in her bracer, extending a hand both to him and Wes. Not strictly neccessary, but maybe it would give the kid a little feeling of control. "Let's go." ============ @kenod
  21. His words left her in silence, unable to come up with a reply that was closely polite or decent. Surprise him, humor him. She grit her teeth against the surge of annoyance, bit back on her reply and instead busied herself taking out a piece of hardtack and biting into it. Boring. He considered them boring. He used them for his own delight. It grated her, to hear it openly like that, that he admited it so easily. That he didn't even try to pretend. And then she somehow couldn't bring herself to care anymore. Price had been right. She didn't want to know this. She didn't want to know about the gods and their stupid attitude, she didn't want to know about their games and their characters. Feeling guilty she realized, she should have trusted Price, should have accepted his decision to keep this hidden from her. But she hadn't because she hadn't trusted the one person who hadn't tried to trick her, and now he gone, lost on their journey and she had no idea if she would ever see him again. If she could apologize for pushing him, if she could fulfill her promise and teach him for more than a few evenings. "Well, if that's the case I suppose it's good you're loosing your powers. Or lost them. Which one was it?" She asked Tion and heard her ire in her tone, straightening her back she stared at him proudly. "I certainly won't amuse you and if you think me that boring -" she made a gesture with one of her hands as if shoeing him away, "then feel free to leave." She stared at him, itching to be on the ground, so that she could move her weight, reach for her sword more comfortably. Her aura was tinted red. It was to late to live a perfect life. The words worried her, but for now she let the worry be covered beneath her anger, anger fueled by disappointment, by fear, by the fact that her whole world was becoming apart and nobody cared to explain, to catch her. All of it so much more difficult than anger. Anger was easy. Fleeting, short lived but for a while it was easy.
  22. Sagitta frowned at the first joke, trying to understand the last joke. Tuhine and no mad? Was there a predjuice she didn't know? She hadn't listened to too many stories about them, so she could easily have missed some. Startled she looked up when Tion turned to her. "Yes, I am." she replied, without realizing, that she had missed his last joke completely. There were so many things she had no idea about, the world, it seemed to be smaller ever since she started to travel and at the same time incredibly more complicated. And she was travelling with a god, a god that was telling jokes she didn't get. It reminded her of something she had wanted to ask long ago, but somehow never found right place and time. "Tion." She started and made a short pause to get his attention. "Is there anything you expect me to do?" She finally asked, looking up into his eyes. "Anything that is important for you? Gestures, rules to keep, rituals?"
  23. "Oh right sorry," Shana moved her hand through her hair. "I'm Shana. It's great to meet you Everest." She nodded at Jamie. "There were some voidbringers in the Neighbourhood. They looked for our new teacher, we got in an argument." A shadow crossed her face and she sighed before she noticed a girl standing silently to the side. ( @Tesh) "Welcome to you, to." She tried to be friendly, despite the way she looked. Feeling a little dizzy she reached out for the wall to support herself. "It's not always like this. I am really sorry that we greet you like this. =============
  24. Sagitta turned away from him, to give him some privacy and pulled herself on her horse. Then she carefully tied her scabbard to the saddle and finally turned her mare to face west. Cahaya, but close to the border of home. Maybe they could make a turn, maybe there would be a reason to travel farther west afterwards, to the ocean, to the hills and the green landscape she missed. She had never been so far away from home before, had never spent so many weeks and months without her friends and family. They had to think her dead. The thought entered her mind, ran like ice through her veins, when she realized that the last thing they knew was, that she had been kidnapped, had been carried away by the enemy. The same enemy that was living a poor live all around her. Her hand moved to her leg, touched the tender scar that remained of her injury. It was wide, jagged, and she could feel it like a mountain range on her skin. Maybe it would have healed better, if she hadn't ripped the stiches, if someone who knew what they were doing had sewn it shut again. Maybe. It would fade a little over the course of the next years, but it would stay with her, a reminder. Her skin crawled when she remembered what she had heard, what the nomads had spoken about. They needed water, they needed soil. They had trouble to feed their population, and therefore they fought for it. But they could have traded, she argued with herself. There would have been a way, good conditions maybe. But they hadn't. They had started an invasion, had started to kill and to maim, they were stealing their land and their farmlands. She grimaced when the familiar anger surged through her again. No reason. Nothing of all of this was reason enough to start a war. There had to have been another way, a different possibilty. She knew that there would have been another way. Lowering her face again she pulled her hood up against the sun, only nodding to a lone man passing them on the path. Tion was right. She did a lousy job at pretending she was nothing but a harmless traveler. And if there was one thing she wanted to avoid, then it was ending up in captivity again.
