@Cyanic Damaya stayed where she was, gradually relaxing. Her breathing turned deeper and more even, and she finally stopped crying. Araha's arms were comforting, offering nothing, but a silent "you are not alone". "You don't have to pay for me. As long as I can work for a place to sleep I'll do that." she said after a while and shifted back on her knees. Using a sleeve she tried to dry her face and smiled embarrassed. "I'm sorry. Now I just poured everything over your head." She turned her head around and looked over at Ran. "Thank you. Thank you both." Hesitating she looked down at Coru. "You three." Her hands tightened around Arahas and she took a deep calming breath. She could go? The thought felt almost unreal. She'd dreamed of leaving, but she had tried once, failed and never tried to escape again. The terror, the fear sat deep in her bones, holding her in a grip that she hadn't been able to break. And Araha told her, that she could leave? That they would find a way to survive, to journey the world. Even imaging the possibilities the opportunities almost made her dizzy. The darkness that had griped her outside slowly started to go away, fleeing from the hope that Araha had offered. She knew, that it would come back, there would always be days when it would be stronger, when it would take a grip at her, try to drag her down. When it would claw at her soul and try to swallow her up. But as long as she had hope, as long as she had a friend, she would find a a way to climb out, to withstand it, until it went sleeping again. It would be hard, but she could find a way. Maybe there was really a way. "I'd love to come with you. Where ever you go." she replied, choosing her own path for the first time in her life.

@Cyanic Damaya buried her face in Araha's shoulder and cried freely. She hugged her back, held to her, like a drowning man might hold on to a life line. "I have to go back." she sobbed. "I have no money, no place to stay. They took me in after the war, when I was close to starving somewhere in the Alleys. I have no place to go except back to them." "I would love to make new memories, but I don't know how."

Hello and welcome to the shard!

Which character did you like best?
-
@Cyanic Damaya took a few glowing spheres out of her bag and simply looked at them for a moment. The glowed in a soft light, almost soothingly soft. Almost. Taking a deep breath she inhaled the stormlight, it’s raging wrath and power terrifying and yet at the same it felt good. “I know how to do illusions. There is only one little problem with them.” she told Araha and closed her eyes. She hesitated a moment and then let herself fall into the darkness. It consumed her thoughts, her mind, everything else was pushed away until nothing was left, but the one thing she needed for an illusion. Pain and despair flooded her mind, let her double over when they hit her with the power of a fist falling down. She gasped and tried to get away, tried to flee, to hide. The darkness was fast, but maybe she could be faster. One single thought entered her terror driven mind like a candle in the night. She wanted to show Araha. And with an internal cry, so let loose, tumbled down in this endless pit hidden inside of her mind. Stormlight escaped her body in a rushing motion and formed figures, the outline of a door in their background. The man towered over her broken body, staring down at her whimpering form with dark, emotionless eyes. “Craft an illusion. Something useful. Change my face.” he commanded and Damaya breathed in some stormlight, felt the moment it started to knit some of the broken bones and stopped the bleeding of the gash on her arm. She tried to picture another face for this man, the details, his hair, his nose, his mouth. A scar on his cheek, his hair a light brown. Breathing out, the stormlight flew around his face – and evaporated, leaving her weak and hurting behind. With an exasperated grunt the man hit her again, grabbed her arm and snapped it with a slight motion of his hand. “You will go back to this Waystop. And when you return, you are useful. Otherwise you will wish you were dead. And you won’t be for a long time.” He turned around and left, throwing a few glowing spheres at here, before leaving the room. Damaya fell to her knees, tears flowing over her cheeks, the illusion next to her vanished when she couldn’t sustain it anymore. Thankfully. “Memories.” she tried to say, but the word came out wrong. Her voice sounded wrong, raw. Hurt. “The only thing I’ve been able to do are memories.”

Damaya followed Araha, without even thinking about it. She felt empty, like a deep dark pit had opened inside of her. Claiming all her hopes and the laughter she had worked so hard to manage.

"Well, that explains a part of it." she answered and then fell silent. If she needed to be an artist to create illusions apart from those that she managed, then that meant that she wouldn't learn how to do different ones here. She couldn't learn it. Not in the set timeframe. Desperation grabbed at her heart and she covered her face in her hands, tried to think clearly, to find a way out and failed gloriously.

"And I am no artist or anything like that. Why do you ask?" she answered Mr Amber. Turning to the womand she added. "My spren knows my problem. And I don't like to talk to him."

"I don't have time." Damaya answered and tried to imitate the hard tone of the woman. "I have a few days at most."

Damaya nodded. Hard words, but if there was a truth in them, then there also was a little piece of hope for herself. "Thank you. And I really hope you're right. I don't even want to think about what happens, if I can't figure out these illusions soon." She shuddered slightly and unconciously made herself seem smaller.

Damaya nodded. "Ms Yzabet said, that I belong to the order of Lightweavers. But I have some problems regarding my surges." she answered Mr Amber truthfully.

Damaya nodded. "Yes, this place is specialized to train with your investiture. But I've trained here with my staff before." And somehow they were back to her most favourite topic. But it didn't help. She couldn't go back to them without learning something first. "That's why I am here, at the waystop." She fell silent, unsure how to continue and get around using stormlight at the same time. She needed to get a grip on herself and this topic. And that soon.

And now I am imaging some kind of sect whose only goal is to create a new fullborn. Extremists that accept every risk and do gruesome things, only to be able to control the next generation of Fullborn. *tries to get the thought out of her head*

"I know some basics with a staff, but I am not really good with it. Yzabet showed me something, so that I can at least defend myself a bit should the need arise." She gestured towards her walking staff. "Why do you ask?" Damaya looked over at Dayne. Meanwhile Coru headed over Araha, carefully placing himself somewhere behind her, out of Damayas line of sight. "Thank you." he whispered. "That was perfect."

Happy about Arahas initiative Damaya picked up a coin and held it up high. "So you could really moved this coin? And only the coin? And controll where it goes?" she asked Dayne. ---- "Why do you compared freedom and stormlight?" She asked after he stopped in front of Araha.

Damya observed how Dayne allso flew through the air, spinning and turning. It was different than the way Araha had moved, but still gracefull and he was flying. There was only joy on his face, and laughter sounded in the air. She smiled at his display and at him when he landed. It took her a while to register what he had asked and why Araha suddenly stood in front of her. Protecting her. Nobody had ever protected her before. They had all stood there and watched, waited him to finish to rush in, carry her out and clean the floor. "Thank you." she said quietly to the other woman and then stepped forward, until she was next to her. She wouldn't lie about that part, she never had. She had covered Coru, hadn't mentioned him. But she had never lied about him. "I am a Knight Radiant. I spoke the first oath." Surprised she heard her own voice. It sounded stonger and much more confident, than she really felt about the whole topic. "So steelpushing lets you fly? And what do you need the metal for?" she quickly asked, hoping that he wouldn't ask her to show something of her own powers.

Damaya smiled and looked at the sphere in Arahas hand. "I meant the movements, not the stormlight." she tried to clarify, although she feared to disappoint Araha and carefully took the sphere. It was warm and glowed silently. She stared at it, tried to convince herself to take sharp breath, to inhale the stormlight. To feel it's storm, it's wildness inside of her. It was as easy as taking a step forward, or sitting down on a stool. And yet, she still stared at the sphere, stared at its glow, at the promise inside of it. Breathe it in. Her hand started to shake and breathing became more difficult, as if her whole body wanted her to stop, to leave it. And yet Araha words were still in her head, a tool, stormlight was a tool and nothing more. A tool, and she only had to take it and do something good with it. But she had never tried to soulcast and there was only one illusion she had been able to craft until today. "I can't." she whispered and watched the sphere fall to the ground, when her fingers couldn't hold it anymore. "I know how to do it, how to breathe it in. I'll show you, I promise. Later, when nobody else is watching. Please, don't be offended, I really appreciate what you say and the time you take for me." her voice got even more quiet, almost not hearable. "Please, just give me until we're alone." She shot Araha a pleading look and then quickly picked up the sphere and placed it back to the others. "You offered to show me what you can do?" she looked over at Dayne, her voice carefully somewhere between excitment and joy. She was interessted in the steelpushing he mentioned. It wasn't his fault, that he had walked into a rather personal situation. @wiritospren

Coru hopped back onto his human's skirt and wrapped himself around the lower part of it. She hadn't even noticed, that he was gone. He watched the other human breathe in some stormlight and then start to use her surges. She used it without much efficiency, a lot was lost to light and sometimes she used more than would have been neccessary. But for someone who had spoken her first oath only recently her control over the surges was good. And she laughed, she seemed so happy, that he wished he could shake his human, until she herself a chance to experience a part of that carelessness, of that joy. Damaya stared at Araha. The woman danced through the air, Stormlight trailing her like a beautiful dress. It was a display unlike anything she had ever seen, beautiful and free. Araha reminded her of a bird soaring in the sky. She stepped forward, tried to see more. Completetly captured by the display, by the sheer beautiful power of Araha's movements. When Araha landed and looked over expectantly, she couldn't help herself and clapped her hands together. "That was fantastic. Especially at the end. Was that what you meant with fighting? Can you show me how to do that?"
