  1. OH is this a trend / a reference?? Because one at my place is called BlackNSASurveillanceVan! But you could be wifi Mo'wifi
  2. You write your name and those of your closest friends in glyphs and proudly send them around. Your friends are nice people and actually compliment you on it.
  3. I am soo exciteeeed. Thank you, everyone who worked and works on this!!! :))
  4. Soooooooo I tried to tweak my schedule to somehow get to one of his signings (they are in Berlin, Bonn, München, and Stuttgart, all next week), but I just can't. So I really hope that he'll be back for a Stormlight 4 promotion tour in two years!!! and would like to know: is there someone willing to protocol the Q&A sessions? ------- PS: oh come on. I think the translators worked hard on the books. Translation often means that you just have to decide between several options. I mean, yeah, sometimes the decision is questionable, but how WOULD you translate "spren"? Also, Elant struck me as a weird name when I read the translation of Mistborn (guess who it is...), but, I mean, just leaving him be "Elend" in the German version would give his name a twist that wasn't intended in the original. I don't know about the French version, but just leaving Vin be Vin and not at least chaning her name to "Vinne" would be weird. I guess the translation seminars in university changed my view on all of that, but in general, the German translations really are not bad, guys.
  5. Same here. I was bored, a friend was like "So I am reading this thing about a guy always reading and quoting and old book (aka Dalinar), you can have it of you want" I read WoK and WoR, thrilled and absolutely convinced that these books were intended as a trilogy. I looked up on wikipedia when the third and last volume would come out. I was very surprised to see that a) that would take a while and there would be TEN books. I was like "You are way too enthusiastic about this story already. You can't wait that long. You need to forget this immediately" I did. Then, I started university and grew way too busy to read much, but last year, I saw that Oathbringer is out, and I started my journey across Oathbringer, Warbreaker, Edgedancer, and only this year, I read Legion, The Reckoners, Skyward (and Snapshot). What can I say... Another friend gave me the first Mistborn book, and although I liked it and I am sure that I will like the rest, I haven't touched the other books yet.
  6. That is awesome!! Can you tell me where you got that info from?? Poland would be great for me, too!
  7. Another Dustbringer. I like that altough it surprises me. A lot of people here are eithem them, Skybreakers or Elsecallers, right?
  8. I feel like slapping myself for totally missing this Has anyone ever heard of any hints that Brandon might go on another trip to Europe??
  9. Idea 1 is awesome and sounds really thought through (the house.... well you could go with a failing arranged marriage ooor what about Tarah?) Idea 2 needs a concise plot & it will be awesome, too, I am sure! : )
  10. I went through a few playlists on 8tracks and ever since then, these songs remind me of certain characters: Bridge 4: Blackwall - Something to believe in Kaladin: Bohnez - Middle Finger Syl: Asja Kadric - Fear not this night (Guild Wars) pre Nightwatcher Dalinar: Sam Tinnesz - Play with fire Lift: David Larsen - Twinborn (Never mind that it's a Mistborn soundtrack ^^) I'm still lacking good Szeth, Pattern, Shallan & Lift songs
  11. May I use some of this for a Knights Radiant quiz?? Crediting, of course... PS: Mhh never mind. I thought about making a KR quiz for someone who hasn't read the books yet. If you have read them, ist isn't half as good.
  12. @Sandra I agree. The German translation keeps most names as they are & occasionally changes letters in order to ensure the pronunciation goes right. That way, especially the pronunciation of vowels differs from the English version, and in this case, Ialai is, when you consider spelling, perfectly symmetrical anyway - the German pronunciation is, too: either diphtong - /l/ - diphtong or [ ɪʔalaɪ] or [ɪʲalaj] and possibly [ɪalaɪ] or [jalaj] which is close enough. I think. I can imagine that that's similiar in Slavic languages and in Spanish but different in French? I am really curious about the Russian (could it be ялай or something?) & the French (?) translations now; is there anyone here who read them and knows how Ialai is called in them?
  13. I didn't dive into Cosmere fanfiction much, but one that stuck with me because it featured different kinds of relations & love, wrapped up in nicely written & short sequences, was Twelve Dances by Isolde on ao3 (unfortunately, the forum keeps telling me to stop the spamming when I try to insert the link here :D)
