Terrel appeared back at his place after being gone for maybe three hours. The Denizen that had Alleytraveled him there went over to a pack of other Denizens. Terrel was angry. "Everyone, your attention!" he shouted, then didn't stop and wait for everyone. "It is true that the Ghostbloods attacked the Church of the Whiterose Complex. I saw for myself the tattoos. I saw them killing everyone. Death count adds up to over a hundred civilians and fifty soldiers! More than a fourth of the civilians killed were schoolchildren who were just hiding and trying to pretend that what was happening around them wasn't happening. Even those who survived will have severe PTSD and may not ever recover from watching their friends being slaughtered like pigs. My own bodyguard, who has killed before and did so many times today, will probably not be functioning right for a while. "I knew the majority of those who were killed. They were good, honest, hardworking people who never did anybody any harm. None of us did you any harm! Yet you killed a full tenth of our population and wounded another fifth or more. My own daughter is probably going to die within the next ten hours, so can any of you PLEASE TELL ME why we haven't done anything yet about these murders?!"

“You have magic healing, right?” Dan asked. He felt like he was flying too high... floating... couldn’t think right. “Use your magic healing on him. Now.” An Edgedancer nurse hesitantly forward and tapped Shae’s back with one finger, then flooded Shae with Progression. It fought with the tin, but was powerful enough to at least heal the major burns on Shae’s back. She stopped once Shae was stable, then tried to grab Dan’s arm. “He’s still got burns on his back,” Dan said flatly. “Yes, but they are minor and the amount you’re bleeding will knock you out in ten minutes,” she said, grabbing Dan’s arm and Progressing it and the rest of him. Dan felt an icy tide sweep over him, like he was playing at the beach and had fallen over when a big wave was coming. His arm starting hurting less, though he hadn’t noticed that it had hurt before. He felt the singed feathers on his wings reform, and his head cleared enough to tell him how much his arm hurt. Then his arm stopped hurting so much... and the wounds resealed. “Thank you,” Dan said to the nurse, checking over his arm. It looked healthy again. “Now get rid of the burns on his back.” “Tell me once he stops burning tin and I’ll come in,” the nurse said, leaving the room. Dan curled up next to Shae. “C’mon... please... be okay, for me, please...” Dan whispered to Shae. @ShadowLord_Lith

"I can't do anything about what he's burning," Dan said. "Just get the bullets out of my arm and take care of him and it'll be fine." He held his arm up to his own face, then dug his teeth into a bullet wound and yanked the bullet inside out, then the next, then the next. "Stop the bleeding. Don't make me fall asleep." @Element of Chaos

Soldiers ran around trying to keep the DA from harming the bodies of the civilians who had died. Dan's boss told any willing GBs to gather GB corpses and give them to the DA people. "No executions yet."

Dan licked up the tears on Shae's face. "C'mon, I'm here. Please..."

A nurse rushed upstairs with a vial of tin, then Dan took it and pouring it into Shae's throat, making him swallow. "Burn." He licked Shae's face more.

"I will," Dan's boss said.

"This is going to be difficult," Dan said. "And I really don't want to do something mean to you. But this works." He leaned over and licked Shae's face continually.

That would make sense.

"Okay," Dan's boss said, taking the paper. "You can move the wounded, make sure they're taken care of, then bring them back here. I'm going to go get the repairs going in a minute. Thank you for everything you've done," he added sincerely, "thanks so much. Our guild is in yours debt."

Dan narrowed his eyes at Shae. "What, don't you love me too?" Then he yelled, "GET HIM SOME TIN." @Element of Chaos

Dan's boss turned around. People said he looked like his bodyguard. "Situation is chaotic, but we have a lot of healers here, so we're probably going to be able to take care of the wounded. Everything else is a mess, but once the Soulstamp turns off, it's good."

Dan crawled up onto the bed, then turned Shae over so his back wouldn't hurt, and starting licking the burns. It was what he did, and Shae said it made them hurt less.

Dan set Shae down on the bed, then sat down on the floor and leaned over, nuzzling Shae's face and licking it. "I love you. I love you." His voice was quiet. He was so tired, and Shae was hurt, and his wings like they were dead, and the bullet wounds on his arm were throbbing...

"I think he's in shock," Dan said quietly, licking Shae's face and nuzzling it. His heart was just about done, but he needed to make sure that Shae was safe. "Yeah, it's fine," Dan said, "as long as he doesn't go anywhere I can't take care of him." @Element of Chaos

Dan turned around and picked Shae up. "You idiot." He panted and yelled, "Can someone help me out up here?" His adrenaline was blocking his pain right now, but it'd run out soon.

"Thanks," Dan said, taking the strips and bandaging the man's wounds. "Nice of him to kill that guy for us, don't you think?" He was really quite happy that Shae hadn't been put in danger, which would've made him get super stressed and make mistakes everywhere.

Maybe it feeds on your wakefulness? Like, you use it and get tired, and if you use it enough you pass out? @Karger

"Right," Dan said, giving his gun to Shae and checking out the unconscious guy. "Okay, take off your shirt and rip it up into bandages," he said to Shae.

Therefore whatever element's atomic number is three powers the magic. If you hold some of it, then your magic is powered, basically. Imagine if that worked with carbon...

But that would be legit awesome, c'mon. If there's a special number on that world, maybe whatever element's atomic number matches the special number?
