  1. Announcing, my school's website sucks. It sucks even more when it comes to registration. Still, it's better than art school was...
  2. I happened to read it shortly after it came out, while I was taking a Sociology class, and I think that might have been why I liked it as much as I did. The book was rife with sociological ideas that helped me better understand the topics in my class, and I was barely able to put it down. The ending did irk me a bit, but my mind was reeling with all the sociological implications of everything in the story, I don't think it bothered me too much...
  3. Did someone say DELICIOUS WAFFLES? Welcome Shardbinder, and enjoy this delicious waffle*, courtesy of the Adminocracy of 17th Shard! *Warning: The Welcome Waffle is not actual food. Do not attempt to eat it. It is pixels on a screen, and attempts to eat may result in damage to teeth, computer screen, face, eyes, hands, hair, CPU, motherboard, and overall intelligence. 17th Shard is not responsible for any damages to yourself or your possessions from attempts to consume the delicious Welcome Waffle.
  4. I know that Brandon originally wanted to use silver instead of tin, because he'd heard as a kid that pewter was alloyed from silver. This turned out to be wrong when he researched it later on for Mistborn, and he almost kept it, because he thought Silvereye sounded better than Tineye. Other than that, no idea. Probably just picked metals one has easy access to. The temporal metals are largely unknown, as, unless I am mistaken, they are relatively rare/hard to make.
  5. Happy birthday to both E.Hyde and MerryBerry. ^___^ As a sidenote, anyone else think it's weird that the only other two Returned have the same birthday and are the same age?
  6. We have never been subtle in our lives.
  7. Wait until I show you how math influences waffles. Your mind will be blown. BLOWN!
  8. Well, you are Canadian. ^^
  9. I am not. What would ever make you think that?
  10. You best not be insulting my ponies, link.
  11. The Restaurant At The End Of The Universe, obviously.
  12. Hope you get one, man. Good luck!
  13. My Little Pony - Pinkie Pie's Party, for the DS.
  14. You are forgetting to incorporate one very important aspect. How does it relate to Wafflematic theory?
  15. It's true. Apparently, they realized two isn't actually two, but eight. Research is still ongoing as to what eight actually is, and if there was ever, really, anything that was two. These discoveries are going to shake up the world of math. I'm excited.
  16. Interesting new development in the math world. 2+2, it seems, now equals 16.
  17. A Jigglypuff, as seen from above.
  18. I'm a fan of Martin's. Word-for-word, he's one of the best writers writing today, and the story is fantastic. He's just killed off all the characters I like, save three, which leaves me with little investment in large portions of the story. I'm also pissed at him for taking so long to finish A Dance of Dragons, and getting pissy with his fans who ask about it. With all the other stuff he's doing - working on the show, editing anthologies, writing short stories, etc- it almost comes across like he doesn't care. So my issue is with him, not his work. Except for Feast for Crows. That book pissed me off.
  19. Welcome, Quacksy! Have a waffle!
  20. Happy to have you, Sara, although I feel I should be pissed at you for your Wheel of Time comment. You know what? Kingdom Hearts bored me out of my skull. Yeah. It did. How do you like that? Sora was lame. I could keep this up all day. Really, though, we're thrilled to have you. Welcome to 17th Shard.
  21. They be no joke, scallywag! Bearsharks be huntin' their prey.. for life!
  22. The wasp scene was great, although I admit I missed most of it when I got up to use the restroom. I'm gonna see it again on Saturday, though. Agreed on the fire. It was great, and the part during the interview even better, but the initial presentation could have been flashier. I felt like they skipped over too much of the stuff that happened in the capital, although I understand why they did- they needed to get to the actual games faster than they book did.
  23. Loved the book, and loved how they handled the adaptation. It was possible for them to have done better, but the changes they made were the right changes to make, and they handled a lot of the problems that develop from going from a first-person limited narrative to a third-person limited film. Only issues I had... I felt the actress that played Katniss was a little too tall. Not too big, like some people had complained, as in too well-fed, too fit, but just too tall. And that wasn't nearly a big enough problem for me to dislike the movie. My other issue was too much use of shaky-cam. It made my head hurt.
  24. Moved to Stormlight Archive. The giant spren may have something to do with the Cosmere at large, but until we know for sure, it's a Stormlight Archive thing. Anyway, theorize on.
