  1. "Are.. you sure you're sane?" Thow says, walking backwards slowly.
  2. Right! Before I start, I would like to give credit to the Wolves of the Beyond series for the culture of my race. I'm going to base my race roughly off of a mix between axehounds and wolves. The name of the race is Segai. This will most likely change. An average Segai is the size of a large wolf, and is insectoid in appearance. It has six legs, and is covered in a thin, strong exoskeleton of plates. Segai are distant cousins of the Rahnyx, and so are heavily infused with orange and green lumoles. Any other type of lumole is fatally poisonous to them. I don't have a lot of time to explain too much more. The Segai's magic powers are manipulation of sound. They can fire off supersonic blasts at enemies, and are able to comunicate over long distances by compression of sound. Segai are highly intelligent. Here's what they basically look like: http://www.empireofasperslag.com/_/rsrc/1374277311804/home/3d-Modelling/axehound/Axehound_Side.png Winter, could I take you up on that offer to draw my creature? I would like it to look like an axehound, but a little more menacing.
  3. Granted. Your left pinkie is now constantly on fire. It will constantly regenerate, making you suffer intense pain for all your life. EDIT: I wish the planet of Roshar teleported into our solar system.
  4. Really? Good! I approve of this satire.
  5. Thanks for the information, Kobold. Very appreciated. Can I get some geographical info about that eastern landmass? I plan to settle some kind of minor species there. I really don't have any ideas about said species, though. Any suggestions? I would prefer a humanoid/human that is genetically bonded in some way to lumoles.
  6. Hmmm. I think people misunderstood me. I love that scene. It is emotionally powerful. There's just something about Kaladin being a complete wreck but still trying to do the right thing that's awesome. That being said, there are a few lines in that scene that feel off. The dramatic wording is- let's face it- out of place and can jar the flow of the book. But, storm it, it makes it so awesome!
  7. Could someone get me the details of the basics of the magic system? I want to claim part of the eastern island, but don't know enough yet.
  8. Good point. I agree with all the things you say, and honestly don't have a way to counter them. There's just something about a bow, though, that feels more complex than a sword. For example, even though any person can pick up a bow and shoot an arrow in the general direction they want, it's a whole lot harder to actually hit their target in a lethal area. I don't really know. For some reason, I feel like a regular chalkling archer wouldn't really work. But, unfortunately, I don't have any evidence.
  9. You know, I have to agree with everyone about the "Stretch forth thy hand!" part. Definitely cringeworthy. But it was earned. Although it was bad, the scene it was in made it work (somewhat). I dare anyone who has read WoR to disagree with me.
  10. Granted. From now on, water is the only solid thing to you. Everything else is like water. (Water is ground to you, and ground is water. You swim through land now.) I wish I was a Rithmatist.
  11. Thow crossed his arms and scowled. "Well, at least I did somethi-" He stops, pulling out a potato and throwing it against the ground. He leaned over and stuck his head in the vortex.
  12. Good point about chalkling intelligence. My point is that Rithmatist chalklings need commands in order to function. Fundamentally, a sword is much easier to use than a bow. I'm going to draw upon Sera's theory in a way, and say that chalklings also draw upon the maker's intelligence. Most people know (mentally, not practically) how a master sword fighter would use his sword. This translates into the chalkling. I very much doubt that Rithmatists know how to make a master bow shot. ...That didn't even make sense to me.
  13. I'm coming in late, and I really don't feel like reading through 8 pages of ideas, so forgive me if this has already been resolved, but I have an idea for what powers the magic of this world. The two governing forces in this planet are Growth and Entropy. They are the energy of life, flowing through all things and affecting all things. Growth is the power of creation (using unused resources) and Entropy is the power of destruction, reverting things into their basic states. I put the parentheses in because, unlike the names suggest, neither power is good nor bad. In areas where either is out of balance, nature stops working correctly. With an over-abundance of Growth, plants and animals will go through natural resources so fast that they burn out the land, leaving a barren wasteland. Areas with an over-abundance of Entropy turn into violent battlefields, with life fighting so hard to destroy other life it doesn't have time to create new life. Wizards (special people) can channel these powers.
  14. "Sure," Thow said. He walked over to his pack and pulled out a potato. He stared at it for a few seconds, his brow furrowed, then threw it against the wall. It splattered into a black, green-tinged vortex. "Now, if I time this right..." Thow mutters, pulling out another potato. He takes a bite out of it, then lobs it into the vortex. "Your help will arrive yesterday, my friend," he says, making a weird bow.
  15. I thought you sold cupcakes with infused spheres. Anyway, I was talking about the DA.
  16. Granted. They eradicate each other in a pointless war, then, after meeting up in Damnation, agree that the eternal fires of torment are much more pleasant than the war. I wish I was a feruchemist.
  17. The potato exploded, seemingly ignoring the time loop, and engulfed the DA in a neon green flame. EDIT: Changed my response to fit the spatial time loop.
  18. Before I put in my 2 cents, I must have a disclaimer: I would make a terrible Rithmatist. I draw slow and badly, so... yeah. But if I were a good rithmatist, I would probably go with knights, foot soldiers, and anything medieval. Interesting question about the chalkling archer. I think it would depend on the chalking's intelligence. We know that Melody can command chalklings without using drawn commands. If it were a regular chalkling, drawn by a regular rithmatist, it probably wouldn't work. A Melody archer chalkling, though...
  19. I like this. I'll take 20 emerald broam cupcakes, and a Stickiness metalmind.
  20. A black, green-tinged vortex opens in a wall across from the DA scientists. A potato sails though, landing in the middle of the group. It starts ticking.
  21. BLASPHEMY! None can rival Brandon Sanderson! You shall be publicly Soulcast into food, limb by limb!
  22. Granted. He hits you with the ban hammer with all his might, banning your soul from existing. I wish for a tree.
