  1. Granted. You keep your new powers secret from society, including your loved ones. You do have control over your power, but it slips out of your grasp when you are surprised. Too bad that it’s your birthday soon after receiving this boon... Your loved ones have put together a surprise party for you. As you step into your house, the lights are off and the space is dark. Suddenly, the lights turn on and everyone yells “surprise!” In this moment of shock, you lose control of your powers, and you sink waist-deep into the ground. And this is where your bane finally comes... The Nightwatcher decides that it would be the best time to revoke your powers. You can’t get out. Now, you are henceforth known as the person who is stuck in the ground. Your house is turned into a museum, and people from all around the world come to see you. Even if you are stuck in the ground, at least your family has made a lot of money off of you?... I wish for earbuds that aren’t broken, and with cords that aren’t tangled.
  2. In the epilogue of Words of Radiance, Jasnah draws her Shardblade, and holds it to Hoid’s throat. He responds by saying: Is it just me, or does this seem somewhat uncharacteristic for Hoid? Generally, we see him exchanging witty (no pun intended) banter, and even his most serious threats are versed lightheartedly. He doesn’t show the level of arrogance that is implied in the quote above. Additionally, I found this quote... My question is this: Is there some sort of unknown history between Jasnah and Hoid that we don’t know about? Earlier in the same scene, when he mentions the “other side,” referring to Shadesmar, Jasnah doesn’t have any trouble understanding what that means. How much does Jasnah know about Hoid?
  3. Nope! This character thinks Investiture is blasphemous.
  4. Nope! This character is female.
  5. Okay, so according to @Ishar, the first hint still didn't load... This character gained support from an unlikely ally.
  6. Cool! Okay, so first hint: This character gained support from an unlikely ally.
  7. For books in general, I add characters’ birthdays into my calendar. Brandon needs to canonize birthdays for his characters so I can add them... Yes, I know there are different lengths for years and such, but just an approximation.
  8. Also, Arcanum is filled with RAFOs... just a warning. You can interpret them as you wish, but it generally means "it would give away too much," "I want to see the crazy theories continue," or "I don't remember."
  9. I AM OFFEND! (Bonus points for references, right?) So me, actually.
  10. (wipes tears) It’s like a baby taking their first steps, oh my Domi.
  11. One of my friends and I are the most up-to-date with Cosmere stuff, so we make a bunch of references to things that other friends don’t understand. They get really annoyed, but we’re like “Eh. We’re cool with it. We’ve got our references.” I mean like, I’m sorry, but when someone calls me “ambitious,” what else and I supposed to think about?! Of course, there’s a discussion about Sho Del after that, and it’s storming awesome.
  12. Dude, that’s actually gorgeous.
  13. In addition to what @RShara said, Ruin and Preservation kind of balance each other out. @DarthWoodrack, your initial question has to do with the intent of the Shards. Each Shard has an intent— Ruin is to ruin, Preservation to preserve, etc. The intent of each Shard “warps” their Vessel (a person who holds a Shard) to better match that intent. Though Ati was, at first, a nice guy, Ruin’s intent started to influence him to act differently.
  14. I know, right? Same thing happened to me. I’m hoping that this revised rendition of one of my stories doesn’t seem like Shardblades or Honorblades and just... gaaaah. Why did Sanderson take all of my originality?
  15. I started a system where people could bond with powers, before realizing that it was basically spren or aethers. Then, there was this other thing I had with people passing powers to other people, and realized that they were basically Vessels for shards...
  16. As a fellow writer, that is my biggest struggle right now...
  17. Nope! This person is aware of the three realms.
