In regards to using their Surges, Lightweavers are less bound by oaths considering that they only have to swear the First Ideal to access them. This means that they can do a myriad of things without having to suffer the consequences of almost breaking the bond like Kaladin did. I'm open so any ideas as to why they only have to swear the First Ideal; I think, and this is reaching out here, it is because of the Yolish variant of Lightweaving. Maybe they didn't need to have other Ideals because of it's preexisting nature.

Which Rosharan country would you want to live in?
The Deity replied to The Kraken's Daughter's topic in Stormlight Archive
Probably Purelake or Reshi, they seem very relaxed and give off an island kind of idea. Azir seems nice, but their laws are kinda weird, even though I kinda like the order. -
It might have something to do with Cultivation's Perpendicularity being the the Horneater Peaks. When Rock says he is alaii'ku it might be a biproduct of his proximity to the Perpendicularity that is allowing him to actually see and speak with Syl.

When Jasnah, earlier is WoR, is opening up to Shallan and relaxing. It wasn't a huge event, but it was meaningful and it actually made me think of Jasnah as more than a statue or figurehead. When Ash sees and tries talking to Taln, it was such an emotional scene for me. It was even more impactful when Taln is actually happy to see Ash after four and half millennia of time apart. When Jasnah is going to strike Renarin, and he allows her to continue. When Kaladin meets his parents again in OB and he just starts bawling because he can't keep it together.
-
It's the same reason why Renarin had to remove his gauntlet to use the Surge of Progression, the armor was not his originally therefore he couldn't transfer the power through it. In Dalinar's visions too, where he is facing the night creatures, the female Radiant was able to heal him with her Shardplate on.

I didn’t think of that, thanks.

Your first theory could possibly be a side effect much like the ability of turning one into a Mistborn. One theory I have is that Lerasium is able to grant a greater spiritual connection to Preservation and this would be why those Mistborns are at such levels of power. You might lead to some problems though if you were to use Lerasium as a spike since Hemalurgy is a net-loss process and Allomancy is a net-gain process and they might conflict, I don't really know how it's just a theory. It might be possible that a Lerasium spike could be able to store all types of Feruchemical energy because of the influence of Ruin and Preservation. I still have some questions as to why a Lerasium spike would be needed because the person who found it could just become a Mistborn themselves rather than going through the trouble of making a spike.

@SirWolfe That’s a good point I hadn’t considered that. I had always thought that grass in Shinovar survived because the highstorms couldn’t reach it. Though, it makes me wonder if they tried elsewhere.
-
I like the idea of them being large scale fabrials, but they might have not needed to be used for terraforming. Since Shinovar was the land given to the refugees it seems like they wouldn’t need to necessarily terraform it to their needs. It might have instead been used as their tools for conquest. Just an idea, but since the land beyond technically belonged to the Singers, the new Rosharians might have needed to use them to conquer more areas.
-
I just want to clarify, is Shardplate an Invested material by nature or is it only technically Invested when infused with Stormlight? I’m fairly confident that it’s always Invested since it’s a spren “remnant,” but I just want to check.

Marsh may be sane in the sense that he knows what he's doing, but his moral values are in question. We see in HoA that Marsh has no problem doing horrible things because of Ati, but now since Harmony is the combination of Ruin and Preservation Sazed can possibly influence Marsh using the Preservation part of him. If we're judging sanity on the basis if he's frequently killing with no purpose, then Marsh is a bit more sane. However, if sanity is based off of moral stability, then he's probably a bit off kilter. We have to also take into effect that Marsh has suffered severe mental trauma whether because it's from Ati or the fact that he was helpless to control himself during WoA and HoA, and this in a sense might have desensitized him to a level where the only sense of conscience, in trying to achieve any goal, is from the Preservation side of Harmony. Also, Ironeyes is the best agent of Harmony's will and Sazed has probably taken Marsh's instability into account and is doing his best to keep Marsh at a level where he can be more controllable.

In OB we see that when Dalinar is trying to get back to Urithiru from Azir he summons a sorta "proto-Shardblade" at the cost of the Stormfather being slightly being pained. Do we even know if he actually summoned a full Shardblade, or is that even possible for a Bondsmith?

Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)
The Deity replied to killersquirrel59's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Granted. But you have to manage every minuscule moment of EVERYONES lives so that they follow what is supposed to happen, and detail in a report what will happen in the next 100 years. And if a mistake is spotted that doesn't match the report you shall be duly prosecuted in court. Which leads to a revised report being sent out that is adjusted to the mistakes made, and this report encompasses the next 200 years. I wish for the ability to have all my homework/tasks done CORRECTLY for the next 50 years. -

Granted, you have will have the best tasting piece of bacon in the entire universe. But, every other food will taste dull and bland in comparison and you will be forever tormented by the lack of flavor in everything. Resulting in you exterminating all pigs, and deeming them all unworthy of producing any more bacon. Now that that's over I wish for dragons to have existed and that to have them replace dogs as man's best friend. -
Would it be the structure or maybe the tuning? Humans can form multiple pitches with their vocal chords, and maybe that chasmfiends just can form multiple tunes at the same time that overlap rather than having a different structure.
-
That wouldn’t be the case all the time. Kaladin and Lopen have never flown before they bonded, so it wouldn’t have exactly felt natural to them. Spren are judges of character, and would most likely bond to someone with shared morals. The Ideals prove this because they are essentially moral keystones to the spren’s greater capabilities, and must have the bonded understand and share the values that the spren has.
-
But didn’t he already bypass the nahel bond when he summoned her without the ten heartbeats? I can’t find the removed scene, but it basically is: “I am a stick.” Over and over again, but it has one “I am a stick?” in the middle of the paragraph. I wouldn’t take this as a reliable form of information, but I’m using it anyway. I think that this shows that you don’t have to form a Nahel bond with something to change its identity, which is what I think happened with Maya. It’s kinda like soulcasting except it takes much more time. The reason it takes more time is because the sword had a bond, and that bond was broken. That bond breaking killed the spren living in the sword. It saw itself as without someone to bond to, for a long while. So even if someone did have the Radiant characteristics of an Edgedancer it would take a long time for them too, and even longer if they didn’t have a personal connection to the sword. OB Spoiler

I’ve thought about this a bit and I actually have a theory (feel free to correct me if I’m wrong). I think that Adolin has an increased Connection with his shardblade which is causing her to form a rudimentary bond with Adolin. Adolin is the main cause of this, because of the immense amount care he has taken of her. OB Spoiler: I personally believe that Maya saw herself as less of “shardblade” and more of “Adolin’s shardblade.”I’m not saying that Adolin is already bonded with Maya as a Radiant would, it would be more based on association. If Adolin actually became a radiant and it actually was an Edgedancer then maybe possibly Maya could bond with Adolin, or at least strengthen the Connection they already have. Anyway, I may be wrong about this, but it’s just my idea, and I’m open to your thoughts.

Feruchemically I would like gold Allomantically I would like Steel or Atium I mean who wouldn't.

I picked Adolin. To be honest I picked him because he's the most relatable to me. Everyone else gets supernatural and extraordinary powers and I still remain good at one thing. Plus he's kinda awkward like me at least.

Hemalurgic Spikes Made From A Person's Iron Content
The Deity replied to Invocation's topic in Mistborn
My best guess is that once the iron from the blood is extracted it will see itself as already spiked since it directly comes from someones blood. You would have to make the spike and then instantly spike them to reduce the decay. The question is really interesting I'll have to think about it more, but props for your imagination. -
Ask Axelius Anything* (AKA Sanderson vs. Tolkien Duel)
The Deity replied to Sherlock Holmes's topic in AMAs
No doubt that those dragons are powerful. They’re freaking massive and have incredible power, that said those are the two largest and most powerful dragons to have existed in LotR, ever A chasmfiend took an entire battalion with 3 shardbearers in full Shard armor to be killed. Those blades can cut through anything, which gave them an undeniable advantage in that fight, which made the battle seem easier in comparison, but still very difficult. -
Ask Axelius Anything* (AKA Sanderson vs. Tolkien Duel)
The Deity replied to Sherlock Holmes's topic in AMAs
@AxeliustheGreat There is no doubt that Balrogs are strong. That’s set in stone, but chasmfiends are MASSIVE. It took two Shardbearers (three if we count Elhokar) with full armor and around a battalion to take 1 chasmfiend down. A comparison of sheer size would be a Balrog is a semi-truck tall to roughly the size of half a cruise ship, in length. Melkor is very, very strong and if we’re using your comparison that Valar are roughly equivalent to Shards in power, then the assumption that Odium could take down Melkor is reasonable. Odium is no ordinary shard. Odium has almost effortlessly taken out multiple shards without having severe detriments to his capabilities. He killed Honor with about the same amount of effort as he did when he killed the other two Shards. Wizards are powerful and would overpower an Elantrian in most cases. However, we see that the Elantrians in Teod were able to draw them relatively quick. And while wizards will overpower 9/10 times, a well practiced Elantrian could, MAYBE, put up a fight. -
I agree. After all, the only reason Wayne is so comfortable around Wax is because they’ve known each other for 10+ years and Wayne feels like he understands what Wax wants. Wayne just hides his unfamiliarity between Steris is through humor and mild insults. Now that he knows Wax is comfortable with her, he’ll probably through another perspective.
