  1. sorry, it seems I accidentally downvoted your latest post in your welcome topic >.> it was awesome :)

  2. that depends entirely on your skill, I'm sure it's possible to write great Ketek's that are understandable.
  3. I dont think a simultaneous store'n'burn would work, since it may lead to positive-feedback: you store the power you gain from store'n'burn in the thing you burn, increasing the output, increasing the input, ad infinitum. Or at least there has to be a barrier somewhere, so that power can leak or be blocked. Can you even invest in an ingested metal? If I have ingested a mind and some raw metal, can I sense the difference between them? Do I have control over what bits of metal I burn? what bits of metal I store in? (I think you can draw from a particular mind at once?) So what happens if I have ingested some metal and an empty mind: I chose to burn the raw stuff, and store the power in the mind. That's pretty standard so far... So now I only have an empty mind, and maybe (probably) too much control burning: I burn one side of the metal mind and store it. I believe the power in a mind is akin to fluid in a container? That would mean I start getting the extra power from store'n'burn and storing that atop my own capacity (unless I can multi task, but that leads to possible perpetual 'motion', if tuned correctly) Same again, but I guess some of the ideas discussed need a significant concentration and control, and maybe even super-local temporal enhancement...if thats even possible >.>
  4. Chain-mail is just TOOO awesome! and I've been know to be a novice paper folder (origami-like). As in I can follow patterns, and nearly get good models out of them. I have no fine motor control, so the fiddly bits get a bit gunked...lol
  5. I'm not enjoying Matter....seems like there's just too many names, which is weird; I read scifi/fantasy so I kind of expect there to be lots of names, but something about Matter is not sitting well :\
  6. I'd say the Returned sleeping is psychological in nature most probably.
  7. That is quite obvious >.> I do not know (nor can I figure out) if I have a favourite story, or particular book, of Brandon's that I like above the others. They are each quite a bit better than most other things I've read, I think... The fact that he tells his stories in such a way so that they are believable and you hunger for more is just awesome. In the year and a bit (I think...since RJ died, at the earliest) I've been reading he has completely toppled all the Towers of Awesomeness I had conceived. To me he's already equal with RJ, if not above, along with Tad Williams and my other favourite authors. I'm a total fanboy, there's no doubt.
  8. There you go, I quoted your keteks so people no longer need to download them to read them They are very good, thanks for sharing
  9. Control through subversion, iirc TLR had a real tough time staying sane because of the effects of Ruin, similar to Zane...
  10. To subscribe to a forum go to it (eg: Site News) and click the " Watch Forum" button next to the new post button.
  11. Go here and change Search Settings to the other option. (source) EDIT: this works in combination with what Eric suggested.
  12. I think the world (without knowing what makes you eligible for powers) currently just allows for the possible corruption stated rather than the culture being based around that. You could also draw parallels to how the Nobiles are brought to Snapping in Mistborn. It seems Brandon doesn't make magic very easy or without cost, even giving Breaths leaves the giver pretty dead. The Shaod cripples Elantrians if they do not have a focus (unless the broken focus negatively affected the Dor's flow) The Herald's were bound to the oathpact, and sent to a place called 'damnation' (?) to be tortured between Desolations, which were pretty horrific in them selves. The torturous paths to 'new' Surgebinding we have currently seen: Kaladin was enslaved, Szeth is an outcast, Shallan's backstory must have been hard on her, and Jasnah is segregated by EVERYONE). Joe
  13. He created the constructs when he was at the Well of Ascension, the ones created after that were through his knowledge of Hemalurgy (gained at the Well) rather than powers from it. His control over them was from his being more powerful than a 'lerasium'-allomancer, who have the abilities to control them (see: Kandra's secret). His over-powerfulness either comes from being the Sliver of Infinity, in which case he modified himself using the power to make himself pretty beefy, else it comes from spikes. Could it have come from the metal minds? being that they pierced his skin could they have been invested before hand? I didnt know he was spiked otherwise. Could they be invested via his own blood? Pretty crazy if so...(waits for someone to come and kick him for thinking such stupid things) The copper-piercing is a power of Hermalurgy.
  14. Similar in a way to what the Rathbore/Dakhor monks of Fjordell do to their bones....
  15. I just finished a quick (3 days) read through of Elantris, yay for Brandon <3...and I just bought Gardens of the Moon (Stephen Erikson) and Matter (Ian M Banks) to keep me occupied for the next few weeks I guess... lol
  16. So are many of us... Welcome Fell, it's great to see another avid addict Joe
  17. Don't forget, Hoid was there at the shattering, maybe he is/has a Shard, but I doubt it...
  18. So there's two different things you can do: fill an ingested metalmind whilst burning it: what the Lord Ruler did (?) but 'faster', might be useful for eeking a little bit more power out of allomancy, when you can sacrifice the effect of feruchemy. burn and store the effects in a metalmind: the trick being discussed, might be useful for storing without the effects.
  19. I guess the only way an offworlder who's had no direct contact with Preservation could do Allomancy is if they'd had contact with Adonalsium (in a way such that they gained a little Preservation-like sDNA). OOH, maybe the sDNA of all shards is the same, generic bland stuff, but depending on your own DNA relegates you to specific tasks (similar in concept to how electron shell's work, the sDNA is the amount of energy one can add to one's 'electron', and depending on how much that is, the 'electron' 'jumps' to a specific level, which corresponds to the allomantic power, RE: the burning frequencies you sense when Seeking)
  20. Indeed Eric, Eric knows LOTS about Mistborn...it's quite scary actually
  21. Lerasium adds the Allomancy sDNA to people, rather than just bulk preservation. If there were an offworlder with enough 'preservation' in them to burn lerasium cleanly, I'm sure they would become an Allomancer.
  22. Hey there Eric, it is great to see someone else wikying. You were linking correctly, sorry about that, the pages for the books are a bit wonky. To quote something type this: {{quote|This is something I said|Joe Said this}}. To reference something: This needs a reference.<ref>This is a reference</ref> and then add </references> to the end of the page (much like you moved the {{stub}} down to the bottom). Thanks for your help It really is awesome to see a new contributor I look forward to working with you to improve the knowledge we have .
  23. ahh yes, just different that it's in thirds rather than quarters.
