  1. @Moogle: Saying "Journey before destination" is not at all the same as saying "Journey is all that matters, desitnation is irrelevant". You seem to be taking a rather hardline interpretation of Nohadon and Teft's comments on the Ideal. I think that their commentary is more of a general principle than what you are taking it to be. They aren't defining the Ideal, they are commenting on it. "Journey before destination" to me, says to choose a moral path to achieve the desired destination. It doesn't say to leave the destination out of the equation alltogether. So, Dalinar's destination is united Alethekar. The journey involves choosing how to deal with Sadeas in a way that is moral. Letting him get away with betrayal isn't moral, but neither is getting vengance at the cost of a civil war. This is why the Journey involved putting off that vengance and justice to find a better way to deal with Sadeas that wouldn't also ruin everthing Dalinar was working for. Apparently, the Stormfather agrees with this interpretation, because he accepted the oath. Unless you can find another way to reconcile your interpretation of the Ideal, Dalinar's actions, and the Stormfather's acceptance?
  2. What? Do we need to be cartographers or geologists or something to figure this out?
  3. Sounds like Hoid is talking about Easter to me... I mean, a crazy bunny that lays chocolate chicken eggs?! Weird!
  4. Buy. Why else would Brandon hide her name? Sell...WOR Spoiler
  5. This is from when Eshonai goes out into the highstorm to transform: Emphasis added. On first reading, I took this as indicating there were other big spren that rode the storms, and it was the Stormfather's turn this time around. Now, I'm not so sure. What do you think?
  6. What's this about shardpools? Are you suggesting Rock saw Hoid come out of a shardpool as he Hopped from somewhere else?
  7. The pattern on the Shadesmar map near Khabranth was found ages ago, and it sparked a hunt on the other WoK maps which revealed other things, like the same symbol on the Shattered planes. I'll see if I can find the thread... Here it is: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/1640-isasik-shulin
  8. There are also these two epigraphs that indicate something devious is going on with Renarin: Renarin did the writing on the wall. Is Navani implying that she thinks Renarin has something to do with the Voidbringers?
  9. The ardent is most certainly Nazh. Or at least that's what Brandon wants us to assume.
  10. I think that Mr. T misread the Nightwatchers gift. The compassion he has on his dumber days is the capacity to save humanity. Or maybe the intelligence and the compassion together are the capacity. He was smart enough one day to create the Diagram, but on a different day he'll need compassion to put that information to the proper use.
  11. Also, no surprise, but that Kaladin killed Helaran.
  12. I knew Danlan was a spy from the first time I saw her operating the writing fabrial. What's it called again?
  13. Was it Kaladin or Shallan's spren who said there were a bunch of other spren hanging around?
  14. People already had that figured out with the prerelease chapters, but it was confirmed when he brought back Szeth.
  15. On the surgebinding chart the heralds are lined up with the icon that represenst the KR order patroned by said herald. IE Jezrien is in the corner above the Windrunner icon. From there you can just go around the circle going in the order listed in the 10 Essences table.
  16. I knew she was trouble almost immediately.
  17. Yeah, I doubt the skybreakerspren will make their radiants anywhere near as crazy about the law as Nalan is. Maybe they have an oath that says they will uphold both the letter and spirit of the law? Could be a problem when there is a conflict between the two, though.
  18. I agree, Renarin is a voidbinder, though I don't think he is bonded to Moelach. Precognition doesn't seem to match any of ther surges listed in the Ars Arcanum. The reason KR hear screaming when they touch a Blade is because the spren is locked in a state of torment. I think someone bound to a voidspren would be able to hear this, too.
  19. Got it! 17 minutes late EST.
  20. So she has an honorblade with Growth/Regrowth on it in addition to her own powers?!?! Wow. Stunning turn of events. Bravo.
  21. I did read the Ars Arcanum...nothing really spoilery there. But yeah, they have something in there from the end of the book. I had to avert my eyes big time there.
  22. Yeah, but I peeked, and already saw some minorish spoilers just by skimming.
  23. So is this the thread where we complain to Peter? Because the "look inside" on Amazon is killing me right now. They've got way too much stuff up there but it's all disjointed.
