  1. I think that the "order" when they heal with Aons is more like "rebuild", or "regrowth". I believe that the healing on the Cosmere goes always pushing the Investiture to the Spiritual Realm to look for the "ideal" of a heart, of a lung, of an arm... This ideal can be modified by the cognitive realm "I had a mole in my arm", "I am a slave and my forehead has those scars"... but the idea is investiture to Spiritual "ideal to "copy" it in the Physical realm. I might be wrong ofc.
  2. I remember that Sanderson said more than once (I'm at work now and can't go looking for the WoBs, sorry) that the healing in the Spiritual Realm has something to do with how do you see yourself (correct me if I'm wrong). That's why Kaladin can't heal his slave marks. I think that Demoux accepted those wounds and those scars.
  3. THAT. I really had a lot of problems starting to read anything longer than a comic book because of that. The problem is that the "classics" and the "literature" is always a controversial topic. Is Tolkien a classic? Robert Jordan? Assimov? Sanderson once Cosmere is finished? Is fantasy/cifi "literature"? I'd say yes, but the "enlighted" that say what should and shouldn't be one thing or the other disagree. I work on a bookstore (we sell fantasy/cf/terror books only). So no. I'm not in college. I don't even know what you mean by "college" (shame on me). Here in Spain you do prescolar (3-5y), primaria (6-12), secundaria (13-16), bachillerato/formación profesional (16-18 or 20) and universidad (18->). You wouldn't believe the lot of people that comes to the store buying books to firends because "I don't read. I'm too old for reading." or "yeah... fantasy is for kids I'm a gronw up I don't read those things".
  4. Yep “Traduttore, traditore”... Somtimes I don't know what are they thinking changing titles/names/covers... been doing some corrections on the spanish translate of the books... Stormlight Archives = Guerra de las Tormentas (Storm Wars) Y___Y P.S: The German cover is not "that bad". It has nothing to do with the books but it's kind of 80' epic fantasy cover.
  5. My first books were the Mistborn Trilogy. I work at a bookstore here in Spain and we had "El Imperio Final" (The Final Empire) in our shelfs but I never paid attention to it. Really. Look at this piece of... I don't know how I've got over my abersion for the cover (I know "don't judge a book by its cover" but, please go up and look at THAT again), but I really loved Mistborn, got Elantris (even being it out of print) and also loved it. Then I found about the Cosmere and the love went to obsesion. P.S: Go up again... look at that cover. Can I cry?
  6. Thank you LarkoftheRiver. Let us know what you think about it (any feedback is good).
  7. Hello everyone! We are doing some youtube talks about Fantasy "Beyond George R.R. Martin" today we talk about Brandon Sanderson. It's everything in Spanish but if you understand or are interseted in the talk... here you have the Youtube link. You'll see there the user "Marns" and myself talking with our host Roberto and Abel about everything we can about Brandon, his work... Feel free to join us on Youtube.
  8. Yep, we had that part clear, but thank you for the Source. What we were talking now was if they, as Splinters of Odium were some kind of raw power (not-made into anything so "Unmade") that could use the Listeners as "vessels" in some kind of "possession"-like thingy (like the red spren form changing) to intrude into the physical world and do Odium's will.
  9. Everything sounds awful when you are trying to force a word into the reality. There's this magic in english when you can take two words and make a new one out of the blue and it sounds cool (most of the time), but in spanish... yep, we have to work with what we have. Increados Nocreados Sinhacer Nohechos ¿Incompletos? (it would mean they are not fully made) If we work on the line of "Unmakers" instead of "Unmades" Destructores Corruptores
  10. Not weird. We are talking about theories after all... It makes sense. A Spren on a Listener's body could do more or could have more influence that just a spren floating around. This all makes me think about the creation of the Kandra. It would make sense that any Unmade has an aspect of his/her own. A different intent: It's clear (to me) that every Unmade (or possible Unmade, they are not confirmed yet except from Yelig-nar(?)) has a clear intent. Having in common that all of them "consume" something souls? identity? life? (sorrow in the case of Dai-Gonarthis).
  11. The Divine Breath is the splinter, not the Retunred... here is the same. If the Unmade is the splinter inside the Listener or the Unmade is the Listener... If the first we are still in the same "problem" is this splinter something like a spren that has been unmade or is some raw power that has never been made? if the second they wouldn't be splinters and it is not the case (I believe).
  12. Aren't the Unmade splinters of Odium? How can they be listeners if they are splinters? "Whereas Slivers are people who have been influenced by Shardic power, a Splinter is a thing that has never been human." (from the Coppermind) I like your point but it would make the Unmade slivers of Odium and I'm pretty sure that they are, in fact, splinters. They are powerful sprens just like Nightwatcher. They are the gods of the Listeners because they are the power of Odium and that makes them "godlike". So... maybe the intention on the word "Unmade" is not because they are unmade but because they are unmakers? They "unmade" the Listeners the same way the Lord Ruler "unmade" the people of Scadrial or Harmony "unmade" the Koloss to make of them new (more adaptable) things?
  13. We really want the names to be as accurate as posible. I think that making them "Destroyers" instead of "Unmade" changes all the meaning of the name itself. I know that their intention seems hostile and they are products of Odium so their calling could be "Destroy", but they also are thnigs that had not the "spark of life" on them and so to say are Unmade or the had it and had been destroyed and now are Unmade. If we could know what Sanderson was thinking when he named them (I'm going to send a mail to Ediciones B, again, to see if they can speak with Sanderson about this)... With that I don't say that I don't appreciate all this feedback. I really like what this community is giving us (specially you dvoraen) in order to make the spanish book as accurate as possible to the Cosmere. Keeo the feedback coming!
  14. All those explanations about how they made are really great and helpful, but as splinters of Odium they were never "made" to be unmade into those splinters. I don't know if I'm talking crazy or you understand me. If they were once something and then they were unmade into the Unmade they are as dvoraen said "Deshechos" (p.e. You go to sleep and when you wake up your bed is unmade) But if they weren't anything (they were parte of the power of Odium, but not something else to be unmade) until they were made into the Unmade... There's no word in Spanish that would fit, but they wouldn't be "Deshechos". (p.e. You go to Ikea, buy a bed and you have all the parts but the bed is not... made yet) I've sent a mail to the publishers to talk with Brandon about this (and other) things, but I'm helping merely as a fan of the Cosmere (In the Way of Kings the translate had no reference to Cultivation at all and in this one the word he used was "Cultivo" that you can translate as "Crops?" and there are other mistakes that make the Cosmere nearly imposible to understand to the spanish readers), so my "power" here is so limited...
  15. Hi guys, I've been searching for this non some topics and couldn't find it anywhere. Sorry if I'm asking something that's already been asked. I happen to be helping with the Spanish translate of Words of Radiance and I found myself asking a question. Unmade can mean 2 things and they are diferent words on Spanish for them. 1- Unmade are things that were never... made. 2- Unmade were made once but then they were unmade. Asked Peter on Twitter... YellowSign ‏@Yourigath 21 de mar. @PeterAhlstrom the Unmade were "made" or are Unmade because they have never been made? It would be 2 different words in Spanish. Thank you. Peter Ahlstrom ‏@PeterAhlstrom 21 de mar. @Yourigath That is a good question. I assumed they had never been made but it's possible it is the other. That's kind of the theory I'm following, but what do you think guys?
  16. Never... SA curses are too soft and when I swear is because I need to do it to avoid breaking something (the "stupid table on a highway" SmurfAquamarineBodies mentioned early would get a kick to the real highway if I don't swear). In this I go more with Malazan Book of the Fallen curses... they have some kind of strange strenght in them "Hood balls on an anvil" being my fav.
  17. A Shard... I find it hard to think about, but a group of shards creating a planet... With Cultivation ever present in the creation of said planet. As Darkness said would be a "freakishly invested planet". I'm imagining it full of life, green with lots of creatures like a big jungle with vast oceans... lots of little creatures and big plants all of them with some kind of spren-like investiture. Going in the theory that the planet is created by only 1 shard it would be Cultivation and the planet would not react to it at all... the planet would be the Shardholder. Some kind of "Mogo" from the Green Lantern comics. A concient planet, inteligent and full of inteligent invested living creatures... I like it.
  18. Just a random thought... I'm the only one that see some kind of resemblance between some of Brandon Sanderson books and the Final Fantasy series? The Chrystals(Shards), the Worldbuilding, the science+magic fantasy... I don't know. Right now I can't stop imagining Kaladin as a badass Dragoon jumping through the air alongside with Kain.
  19. Just finished "Toll the Hounds" and I'll have "Dust of Dreams" and "The Crippled God" on standby until i finish "Legion:Skin deep", "Firefight", "The Slow Regard of Silent Things" and "The Broken Eye".
  20. Didn't Sanderson said that and Honorblade with the powers to make someone into a Windrunner in hands of a Windrunner would enhance his own abilities? (not in a compounding way, but something less powerful)
  21. Thank you for the welcome and... yeah... go tell that about my english being excelent to my teacher 12-15 years ago. She surely will laugh at you. (I have to say that 10 years of MMOs make wonders on how to learn a language or at least how to survive within a community of that language speakers)
  22. Hi fellow Sharders, I work on a bookstore on Barcelona (Spain). Started with Mr.Sanderson books a bit late because the horrible covers that Mistborn series has in my country, but after reading Mistborn Sanderson went directly to my Top3 authors of all times. Get Elantris, Warbreaker... but it wans't after a while that I discovered the Cosmere and went full compulsive on the internet searching for info about what was that, who was Hoid, and why I had been so blind... Now I can say that every client that comes into the store looking for a fantasy book gets a copy of one of the Sandesron books if I'm on duty. And even if they aren't looking for fantasy... I try to sell them Legion/The Emperor's Soul as an "introduction" to the author. I'm a bit obsesive when I'm on a "fandom" and right now the Cosmere is part of my life. Had the pleasure to help in a Spanish blog and we did in January a full month of Sanderson goodies (articles about the Cosmere/about the Investitures / reviews of the books...) and here I'm now pushing my english to the limit to get into this community and work with it to get more info, more theories, more Cosmere to share with my friends and willing (or unwilling) clients. Thank you all for future laughs and friendships.
  23. A firend of mine has a similar theory but not with C/H/O... She thinks that if you have 3 different kinds of Realms... you still have 10 combinations. Her theory is that Surgebinding is from Honor+Cultivation but the Surges came in 10 combinatios of Spiritual / Cognitive / Physical
