  1. Everyone of us goes through that phase of "I have no idea about this". Normally followed by "I thought I knew how that worked but... "
  2. king And Lionheart (Of Monsters and Men)
  3. After 4 hours trying to explain Hemalurgy to a group of people...
  4. Tony Stark = Supply (he doesn't need them, but he knows what to do with them for sure) Locke Lamora = Read Axies = Elect (look at my nick, it was obvious xD) Vasher, Rincewind(Discworld), Mappo Trell(Malazan Book of the Fallen)
  5. Welcome to the community. I have to agree, the world of Roshar is... mindblowing. Any Stormlight/Cosmere theories in mind? P.S: You don't want that cookie. I've read that they are really "heavy".
  6. For a while we (in Spain) had "edible rats" again. When "V" (TV Series 1983-1985) aired in Spain we had this gummy rats (mostly to avoid kids from trying to eat REAL rats)
  7. Let me think... Wake up at 8:00 go to school/high school/whatever you call it... be there doing nothing with your friends until 14:00 go home, eat something someone cooked for you, go back to "school" from 15:00 to 17:00 be free until tomorrow... Friday school from 9 to 14 and free afternoon playing Pokémon with some friends... and yeah,,, weekends, holydays on summer from June 22th to September 15th.. Xmas from December 22th to January 8th. Vs. Wake up at 6:45 wake up your son, fight with him about eating breakfast/shower/get dressed instead of seeing TV, bring him to school at 9:00, bet at work at 9:45, work until 13:45, go home, make something to eat for you and your wife, eat, enjoy 10-20 mins, go back to work from 16:30 to 20:30 go home, get some dinner at 21:00-21:30... do some laundry, dishes, etc... go to sleep because, you know, you'll wake up at 6:45 again tomorrow... and repeat Mon-Sat... wake up at night because you had the nightmare that your son just died while sleeping... go see if he is ok (or if he is breathing)... go back to bed (not to sleep)... mmmm... Can I get back to where I had 0 responsabilities, free time, free home, free food, free clothing, free games, free everything? please?
  8. Poor bronies...
  9. The Heat Death (or Big Freeze) is a theory, a possibility that can become a truth with the physical properties of our universe. I don't she the "Investiture Death" as something possible. Investiture is needed for life and, in a worst case scenario, sometime there would be a number of lives = total investiture and it will be the "Investiture State" of the Cosmere. That means that no new life will be able to apear, that no investiture will be able to be "wasted". But the investiture goes back to the Cosmere (if Endowment and Breaths aren't the anomaly) so once 1 life ends another one will be able to be born and so on...
  10. Aquí link to the blog. aquí group on Facebook. PD: Se me fue la olla, estaba dándote la bienvenida, reconstruí la frase y dejé la a en lugar de cambiar por una o. xD
  11. Hi and welcome to the community. I'm also from Spain (Barcelona). Did a blog with some friends about Sanderson and the Cosmere this January (we even have a group on Facebook for Spanish readers if you want to join) and I'm helping right now on the translate of Words of Radiance. And yes, the book covers from Mistborn are bad (We are trying to talk with Nova to change them. We made them change the cover of "El camino de los reyes" for the new edition that will be on stores the 1st of July). The first cover is crazy bad... it's a steel inquisitor? it's a male, bald, Vin (look at the ear)? The second one wasn't that bad, but the third... Why is that blondy holding Sting(Frodo's sword)?? Saludos y bienvenida.
  12. I have, right now, the answer to universe, life and everything. Year 42 was a Common year starting on Monday just for that I dig it.
  13. Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. Spreading the word of Sanderson from the Librería Gigamesh
  14. Try it, trust me. It's a bit slow in the begining, but... it's a heartbreaking tale. The problem with the "crowning achivement in the fantasy genre" is that the achivement is the whole saga, not the first book. I have to say that I prefer 1 first book bad an 9 really good that the Goerge R.R. Martin problem with 1-3 books great, years later 4 boring, even more years later 5 boring...
  15. I'll say... Elantris The Emperor's Soul Mistborn 1st Era Stormlight1 Warbreaker Stormlight2 (2-5 when they are published) Mistborn 2nd Era Still don't know where Nightblood will go if between Warbreaker and Stormlight2 or after Stormlight5...
  16. Now I'm reading Dust of Dreams (book 9 of Malazan Book of the Fallen). I've to say to all the "I don't like Gardens of the Moon, not gonna read Deadhouse gates" guys (I work on a book shop and there's a lot of hate against Malaz. Don't know why)... I get you. I had to read the first 80-150 pages 2 times just to start to get into the book but after that... I love magic on a book. Powerful magic. And MBotF has it since the battle of Pale in the first 50-80 pages. But is not only that... the book is full of "easter eggs" you will get in time (or with a reread). This is, "theoricraftingly" speaking, so similar to the Cosmere... Erikson puts there a lot to info for you to find. "Worldbuildingwise"... Gardens of the Moon... yeees and no. It builds the little world of the empire of Malaz and the city of Darujhistan. The saga? Yes... has the best worldbuilding I've found in ages. Not only the world. The cultures, the religions, the diferent armies, magics, gods, races, characters (some of them are older than the world itself so they have a lot of history)... I'd say... you've read GotM and you didn't quite liked it? Try Deadhouse Gates... it's the first book I've read that, even 7 books later, someone talks about what happened there and I start to cry.
  17. I like your idea about the need of a holder giving into a "shatering" of the people that try to go in/out of Sel. I had a differrent theory there. I believe that the Dor has a Cognitive Shadow of Devotion and that Cognitive Shadow is "stuck in one job" as much as the Stormfather is stuck on "bringing the rain/winds to Roshar". Being the Dor on the Cognitive Realm I think that the idea of the Elantrians thinking "If I get in the pool I dissolve" (as this is the only part "visible" about "etenring the Shadesmar" from that pool) conditioned the Cognitive Shadow's job and now it thinks that that is it's job. Shatter appart whomever to comes inside the Shadesmar. If you have a strong enough idea of your soul, your body... yourself, you can go in and out of the Shadesmar on Sel but if you don't... puff. (Obviusly that's only a theory)
  18. Well I can't talk about the others (I've found them 2-3 weeks ago), but I was on Ragnarok a looooong time ago and I never had the need to change (I'm glad I didn't or I wouldn't have found the KsR).
  19. Thank you @natc. That's what I was trying to say but better and with less words. It's not that the Elantrians are godlike (since the quotes) is that the power seems godlike but is really the same as the others. Power+Intention->SR/CR->CR/SR->PR = puff... MAGIC!
  20. I was talking about "godlike" power in answer to this quote: I quoted the godlike part to try to make it clear that I wasn't really talking about godlike in "power of god", but on the equivalent exchange (alchemylike) of the Soulcasting vs. the making from scratch (godlike) of the AonDor. I don't know if I'm clear enough... Y_Y
  21. @Argent Yep, that was me asking about the Dor... and he crushed most of my theories about how the magic works on the Cosmere. But the part about the "integral to the workings of cosmere Magic!"... I have to think hard about it.
  22. Asked about the "portability" of the Dor. He answered today. About using the Dor outisde Sel (I'm still on fanboy mode let me chill for a bit xD)
  23. Hi all (I don't know if it goes here but it seems the most logical place) Anyone playing Final Fantasy XIV? I'm on the game and the other day I've found this Free Company. The Knights Radiant http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/freecompany/9237023573225293641/ We are on the server Ragnarok(Chaos Data base) and we are starting to play together (I joined as soon as I saw the name of the Free Company). Anyone playing the game or thinking about buying it want's to join?
  24. My name is Dídac (it's a Catalan name) It comes from the Medieval Spanish "Didacus". A form of Diego in medieval Latin. Possibly shortened form of Santiago. It in fact derives from the Greek διδαχη (didache) "teaching".
  25. Yep, ofc. With the AonDor you have kind of "godlike" power, but that doesn't change that you create this organic matter directly with the shape and functions of the "idea" of a heart. The Spiritual Realm knows that a heart is something with 4 chambers, that pump blood through the body, etc... But there is where the Cognitive Realm puts his finger. In my mind all magic goes to Spirit Realm, through Cognitive to affect the Physical (being getting an Ideal, affecting the sDNA, etc... some way or another that's the process as I see it.) You acces the SR because you want to heal/regrow a heart. Then you have to put this heart in the PR, but to do that this heart is affected by the CR. In the CR is where this heart may be turned around because the "ideal" of a heart is not the same that the heart that this guy needs because he has Situs inversus. With that in mind I can think on "Regrowing" a heart the same way as creating one. You acces the SR and search for the idea of a human body and you let this ideal to fill the gap. With what? A new "regrown"/"created form scratch heart". If the guy is the same from above it still has the Situs inversus and you are growing the heart in the right place because the CR idea that his body has about itself. I don't know if I'm clear or I made some caos up there (english is my 3rd language and sometimes my ideas run faster than my capacity to translate them). Basically both magics work "the same way" and are affected by the Idea(SR) first and the CR afterwards.
