Karin hadn’t seen anyone else, and Wes couldn’t either. So, they were all dead. The approaching emptiness was held back by disgust as Wes sharply looked in the opposite direction when Karin started eating the worm. The DA, he could only tell himself. It seemed just about everything was possible to those from the Alleys. He jumped as someone tapped him on the shoulder. The Mistborn. Why would someone so powerful choose to talk to him instead of the other powerful and smarter people? “I dismantled it,” he said, pointing to the small pile of scrap metal and gunpowder a short distance away. “Oh, did you want t use it. Sorry... I can try and rebuild it if you want?” He’d even dismantled the bomb early. Stupid Wes.
-
Wes nodded, looking to the worm’s corpse. Slowly he walked forward and tried to ignore the smell, trying to look inside the hole Karin had left when she’d exited. No sign of people, but maybe they were just in a different part? It was a big worm after all. Wes clung to the hope that they’d be alive, that everyone would come back. But no one did.

Gati. So the god had chosen a fake name to fool Sagitta. Perhaps they too knew that blissful ignorance was better than the harsh truth. If that was the case, then why leave Price with his memories? To torture him? Or had they really just been travelling merchants, and he’d imagined the whole interaction. These past few days had been stressful. And besides, he was the only one who even remembered the talk with the gods, Sensation causing the weather change, Negation bringing the boy back... The boy. If Sagitta didn’t remember the talk with the gods, she would definitely remember the Cahayan boy who she had mercy-killed herself. And yet, beside Negation, there was the boy. Alive and blankly staring into space. Vivid proof of the gods, but maybe not to Zura, she didn’t seem to remember everything. “The boy is alive,” he said to Sagitta and pointed to the boy. He didn’t say more, she could make her own conclusions. He didn’t know what to do, because he knew that any proof of the gods existing would most likely lead to disappointment when one realised they didn’t care about the world. Quietly Price cursed the gods for putting him in this situation, though they likely controlled that as well.

flamesinger theory The Universe
I think I am here. replied to John Flamesinger's topic in Roleplaying
Cheh looked between Jessy and Failen. Unsure. Jessy didn’t trust them, Failen did. And Cheh still had no idea that this sort of ‘testing’ technology was even possible. But, there was a good chance he wouldn’t be able to get back home to tell his world about it either, unless they figured out why the Universe was responding to him in particular. “Well, maybe we can see similarities between all of us?” He asked. “See if the ‘Universe’ likes one particular quality?” A small he said it he realised that would mean everyone disclosing things about themselves. So he went first. “I’m Cheh. I’m a teenager. I can bend, which means I have magic. We all have magic here, right? That’s one similarity.” Thinking he tried to continue. “I have a family. I’m afraid of heights. My favourite food is rice, I’ve never been outside my own country.” But there was something else he didn’t want to say. But Cheh knew if they really wanted to find similarities, they didn’t have to disclose everything. “I... never really felt belonged as an Earthbender. I wanted to be spiritual but it’s particularly difficult as an Earthbender to be that way.” Maybe all of them never felt belonged where they were? Or maybe it’s just you, Cheh.- 502 replies

Karin... alive? Wes felt a pang of anxiety when he remembered how the worm had swallowed her whole, just like all of the other employees it had consumed. But how could she be alive? Wes followed the Righthand as she cut open the worm, suppressing any squeamish impulses, too busy wondering how Karin could be alive to help. Finally, Karin’s feet exited the worm, and the rest of her slowly came out until she was standing around quipping. Like she hadn’t been eaten by some giant worm. The DA, Wes thought, with slight awe. In any case, he was glad she was alive and not melted in a pile of digestive juices like all the other victims. But, if she had survived... “Hey Karin,” Wes said, waving slightly. “Did you see anyone else alive in there?” Maybe the creature hadn’t really killed anyone. Just kept them inside... for storage? Wes knew it was a long shot, most likely Karin was the only survivor. But it was worth asking at least once. Thank the Heralds we didn’t throw the bomb in there, he thought suddenly. But if Karin could survive being eaten, she could probably have survived an explosion, Wes was sure. But still.

non-canon Challenge of Champions! Wes vs. Deteca
I think I am here. replied to I think I am here.'s topic in The Alleyverse
It was a standoff, like something out of a Western. Wes, with the gun, but all out of bullets. Deteca, with the bendalloymind, but with a bullet wound. Wes looked down at the gun. It was useless it’s current form, he knew that. And without gunpowder from the bullets, it wasn’t like he could start turning it into a bomb as well. Quickly Wes dismantled the gun into its component parts, taking out the gun’s slide and magazine, and snapping the tip of them against the ground to make them sharp. Two makeshift knives were better than nothing. Looking at Deteca. He waved. “Sorry for the sand thing,” he said. “And the bullet.” He gestured to her arm and threw a bunch of random screws and bolts from the gun to try and distract her before attempting to take a stab with the knives.- 83 replies

wedding Walkelody: Another Wedding

“Thank you, we will,” Lusk said and began walking to the food bar, glancing a look back at Freedom. “It’s been a while since our last lesson,” he said. In the beginning, he had disliked calling their meetings ‘lessons’. It made him sound like he had some sort of responsibility to teach the young Atium Ferring, that he, Lusk Uwik, was being reduced to some sort of personal tutor for a teenage girl. But, he had come to terms with it eventually. The lessons weren’t all that different from the tests Lusk did with his underlings, after all. “Been catching up on your ‘homework’?” -
Alask followed her into the safe house, smiling slightly at the feelings of nostalgia that accompanied him. He noticed the beer bottle as well as a few small things around the hideout, signs that it wasn’t all completely abandoned. Maybe the next time one of the crew checked here, they’d see the note. The note. Grabbing a scrap of paper from an old cupboard Alask began writing: To anyone who wants to get back together like in the old days for another heist, contact the Forge. Finishing he showed it to Lena. “Do you think it’s enough?”

Lusk growled and jumped forward but by the time he was there the man was already gone, the gun the only proof he had ever been there at all. Well, the gun and the dead body. Carefully Lusk stepped beside the gun and kneeled down. “A fingerprint scanner would do well here. That, and any descriptions we can get of his face.” He stared up and Mike and Mari. “You okay?” He asked, pretending not to care. Storming underlings.

The worm fell, and Wes could feel the finality in its final cries. When all was done, he turned back to the group. Looking down at his bomb he quickly dismantled it until it was a random assertion of metal parts and gunpowder at his feet. It was okay his bomb hadn’t been used. It had been a bad idea anyway, he thought and looked at Allri, the Mistborn. You didn’t see those often nowadays. “No, not really,” he said, wrapping his cloak further around himself. He gestured to Rigex and Corette. “They might, They’re powerful, you know? My biggest concerns are usually something like some accounting issues or a bad screw in one of my inventions.” Or a world-ending Vortex, he almost said. But that had been one time.

Alask nodded and stopped. “Old headquarters it is.” He didn’t know whether the old group even checked the hideout anymore, Alask certainly didn’t, but the again, Alask had gotten caught up with other things lately. Maybe the others hadn’t. Besides, maybe they could post an advertisement in the Odd Job Tavern, to make up for numbers. But just as Lena had said, it’s not like they needed too many people. Just a few, in Alask’s opinion. If worst came to worst, they’d need one person for the theft, and one for the getaway driver. Obviously, more people would make things easier. “But how could we pay them?” He asked. “We’re not stealing money anymore.”

“Well, Investiture resists Investiture, right? I think we could use that?” But something else was happening. The Righthand groaned and raised a hand to her head, had closed her eyes and clung to a post. With a start Wes felt a sharp sense of alertness, and he realised what was happening. The worm must have been targeting the Righthand specifically, to get such a reaction. Unclasping one of his bendalloy bands, and orienting it so it was a flat piece of metal, he tried to give it to the Righthand, a little scared, but he was sure it would help somehow. “Slip it under your helmet,” he said. The Investiture from the metalmind would be hopefully be enough to resist the Investiture of the soothing, just as aluminium did when applied to hats. Eyes widening he realised there was no one to hide behind now, Wes looked back at the worm. The Righthand had said it was a good idea, to use the bendalloyminds, but how? Wes wondered if it would hurt the creature if he threw one of his bands into the open gash the Righthand had created, but no, that wouldn’t work. The worm wasn’t a spren or piece of sentient Investiture, it was an Invested creature. And throwing a metalmind in the wound wouldn’t hurt more than it would for Wes. Then, how could he help? Running to a gun dropped by an employee when the worm had eaten him, Wes quickly dismantled it. It still had gross worm-slime over it, but Wes ignored it to collect the bullets, separating the gunpowder from the cartridge cases and removing the priming handle and other components. A screwdriver wouldn’t have been really helpful, but the scream scene of eaten people were enough motivation to finish his little assembly in a new record for him. Finally he held up the finished product. It was a bomb, combining the gunpowder from all the remaining bullets Wes had found in the gun, encased and wired in with more parts to make it very explosive. Wes made sure to carry it gently, moving nearer to the monster. A wrong move, and the bomb could explode right in his hand, which awesome definitely didn’t want. Running forward with a warcry Wes called out to the new guy. To his memory, the man was a coinshot from Scadrial. Great, very useful. Wes tried to refrain from feeling proud, after all, the worm was still alive and Wes was still in danger of being exploded to bits as well as eaten. “Coinshot guy! I made a bomb! Maybe if you coinshot it into the mouth, it could explode and hurt the worm?” Did that work? Wes hoped it would be enough. He held the makeshift bomb in front of him, looking at the other woman here as well. “Some sort of worm? I’ve never seen it before.” @I Rashek @TrailRunnin

Tunnels! I wanted to do something a little horror-like (gasp) this time, loosely inspired from the Into the Dark thread, so you might want to turn your brightness up. Three cheers for claustrophobic tunnels and worm monsters! Here’s my Inktober #10:

It wasn’t really a secret room. More of a secret compartment. Cleverly hidden behind one of the cardboard boxes, a small square cut straight into the concrete. Now, what could this be? Placing the cardboard box gently on the floor, Marcel inspected the compartment. There was a cardboard box in it, just like the other shelves. WORK, was written on it in thick sharpie. Inside the box were a bunch of interesting things disguised to look boring. Marcel had almost skipped over a paycheck, labelled ‘travel expenses’. Looking deeper into the box, Marcel found a small patch, the type that could be sewed onto a shirt in a couple minutes. It was colour and had no words, instead depicting a swirl of colour in a liquid-type pattern. A logo, perhaps? Things really got interesting when Max looked into the files and saw blueprints. They were for some machine, or was that the layout of some sort of building. It was so confusing to understand the measurements, the designs, what they represented, but Marcel grabbed it anyway, he’d give it to Wita later. While she stored Zinc almost constantly, she was smart where it counted. She’d be able to translate this architectural mumbo jumbo. “I did!” Marcel called out in response.

“You guys can do that?” Cheh said, looking to John in surprise. All these inventions, they seemed amazing, like something out of a book Cheh had read once, about scientifically fantasies. Not many books came to the farm, which made the memory of the book even better. Cheh had lost it in a fight. “So, We effect the universe. But in what way? It certainly seems I’m about average in my abilities.” Cheh punched in the air and nothing happened due to the lack of rock to prove his point. Maybe if he was stronger, he could bend the metal. Both times he’d done it before, he’d been in great stress. Maybe that was the key?- 502 replies

Price watched her silently, and slowly he sat down as well. He looked in he direction of the gods. “I know you’re plan,” he said. The gods wanted a war. It was the only reason they’d come to him, Sagitta and Zura and immediately erase memories of comradeship. But, for now, he was confined to silence. Back in the cities, spouting such nonsense about not only meeting the gods, but also that they were evil? It could cost him his position, no matter how many discoveries he’d made. Price liked to humour the idea he’d keep increasing through the ranks. That one day, he’d wake up from his bed as the lead researcher in Tühinine. Privy to all secrets, all research and all inventions to help in a war effort. But he knew, that by the end of his life, what would he have achieved? Nothing except make more weapons for the nations to destroy each other with. He knew the truth, that the world would end before the War did. He noted something in his ledger. “We’ll talk in the morning,” he said. “Because there’s only one way we’re getting out of this forest, and we can’t afford to waste time bickering with each other.” He couldn’t believe he was being less fanatical one in the situation. But even if they were at a temporary truce, that wouldn’t stop Price from handing Zura to the authorities when this was all over. Maybe before, he would have hesitated, but now? She was just as extremist as she had been when they’d met.

The Last Post Wins!!!!!

*hoping no one notices my super subtle win* -
The present was done, complete with string through a hole to complete them as necklaces. Rob would almost smile if it didn’t go against every fibre of his being. But, the necklaces certainly were nice. At least, Rob thought so. A part of him worried that Ax and Jason wouldn’t like it, that they would throw it away, but he knew, it was an irrational thought. He hadn’t dealt with someone unpleasant like that in a long time. Usually bullies quit trying to bother you when you didn’t show a single emotion, it became boring for them. So, instead Rob knew that while no one really bothered him up front, some people talked behind his back. And that was okay. He wasn’t doing his education to impress anyone. Putting the present in his pocket, he looked around with a smile. The decorations were done! Or so it seemed to him anyway.

“And now we have a location,” Lusk said, walking next to Mike. He looked towards the new person who’d arrived, narrowing his eyes. Spy, or ally? No, no spy would ever make themselves so obvious to the Ghostbloods. “You’re coming with us,” Lusk said. “We need whatever people we can get to solve this. You, Mike,” he said, remembering that little rant on the stage. Lusk began to walk forward. “Lead the way.” @Sorana @kenod @Lord Furret @Oduim’s Chmapion
