  1. Raboniel disparagingly says It is demonstrably a surge, with unique attributes. Is this just Raboniel not liking an "Honor-only" surge, or is there more to this?
  2. I had assumed from Secret History that the constructs the Eyree used to hold the "glowing liquid" were storing Investiture from Devotion or Dominion (I always mix up the two). In Lasting Integrity, we learn that they willingly sell devices to store Investiture, and it works with Stormlight, so they've generalized it. Neat!
  3. Given the deconstruction of the glyph for Roshar...Rosharlight?
  4. Might a married couple both being Bondsmiths be fairly significant? The seems like it would facilitate exploration of Connection greatly.
  5. I had the same immediate thought. Agree on the puzzling means by which a fused name would become bestowed upon Honor by Vorinism. Unless Vorinism follows the trait of Christianity in coopting pagan names and traditions into its own.
  6. So was Nightblood being used to end Rayse what Endowment had in mind, with its creation? Or is there more yet to come?
  7. Skepping! I keep having a field day visualizing skepping in action. Must have more of this on-screen (er...page).
  8. When it comes to names, Brandon seems to pull from lots of languages intentionally, and some perhaps due to some connection to the spiritus mundi. If I'm remembering correctly, "meshram" in Sanskrit derived languages means "singer", which makes the name Ba-Ado-Mishram very intriguing to me.
  9. Here is the excerpt from Brandon's newsletter, where he himself identifies the scene/sequence.
  10. Ah. Valid point. So perhaps all god-metals can serve as investiture conductors.
  11. We have this quote: What indeed? Was Kelsier planning to attempt to use her on Scadrians?
  12. I sped read the published chapters to see if anything had changed from the pre-released chapters. The only changes I noticed were spelling and grammar related fixes.
  13. But we don't know why Odium thinks that. He simply comments that Dalinar had set himself up for failure. I agree that slowing the planet's rotation to stretch out the length of days is probably not his plan, but it's interesting to ponder, nonetheless, especially with the Scadrial orbit change having happened.
  14. The Windunner ideals seem to be progessing from more external to internal, i.e. from protecting others, to more internal epiphanies related to that first oath. My guess is that the Fifth will be something along the lines of a mirror of the First. Perhaps "I acknowledge that others can protect me, and I am worth protecting."
  15. Raboniel referred to the metal as such. Unreliable narrator seems unlikely in this case, to me.
  16. Asked Shardcast-style: what does "day" mean? Is a "day" one rotation of a planet about its axis? We've seen a mere Sliver shift a planet's orbit elsewhere in the Cosmere. With Honor dead, and Cultivation not directly countering Odium, how difficult would it be for a full Shard to slow the rotation of Roshar? 10 days could be an awfully long time, if the planet's rate of rotation were dramatically slowed.
  17. Odium couldn't force either Dalinar or Kaladin to become his champion. He had to wear them down to the point where he thought they would choose to become a champion, with Intent. Would a suckling child possess the requisite volition to "choose" anything approaching such consequence?
  18. Thanks @ftl! I'm only now remembering that a newsletter came out on the 17th; was too busy reading something else to pay attention to such mundane things as email.
  19. I had the exact same thought upon reading that.
  20. Which scene in RoW was the one Brandon was referencing, when he mentioned a scene he had been imagining for so long and finally got to write?

  22. Sja-Anat saying (emphasis mine) has always made me think there is more to the Unmade than merely splintering off from Odium. Odium's splintered-off power is what "un"-ed them from what they originally were, methinks.
  23. Thanks! Wood selection is fun. I went with mahogany for this, hoping the orangey red would evoke Parshendi carapace.
  24. Normally I'm not much of a poster guy. The Bridge Four poster from the WoK Kickstarter was too awesome to ignore, though. It inspired me to dip into my stash of Pretty Lumber, and learn how to build a picture frame. Turned out reasonably decent, I think. Fun way to spend the weekend, working off excitement for Rhythm of War Tuesday!
