So, we know that the reason Vessels are slowly corrupted is the Intent of their Shard, slowly forcing its way through their soul and warping them. This sounds an awful lot like what’s happening to savants, the amount of Investiture, and therefore Intent, passing through them warping their very soul. As we see throughout the books the savants in different systems are warped to a different degree. My theory is this is because some Shard’s Intent would be closer to typical human Intent, making the Intent forcing its way through the human less incompatible, and that is why different humans are affected in such different degrees. If this is true, could it be that if their original Intent matched that of the Intent of the Shard their other traits would not be affected, meaning that for example Sazed will remain the same as throughout his life he was more or less striving for harmony? I know this is flimsy, so @Calderis and @RShara, unsheath your WoBs, and prepare to cut this theory through all three realms.

Also, as far as I remember in the American legal system the burden of proof is on the prosecutor. You know, innocent until proven guilty? Well, we at the DA let many things go, but such horrible slander is simply begging for a lawsuit. Or a duel.

An example of a Fused physical change that is different from a change in form is the three colour marbling on one of the Fused. The mental instability of some of the individual Fused may also be a form of their savantism, as i believe such a side effect was on the last Shardcast.

As has been pointed out to me, the Fused are most likely Surgebinding, using Voidlight to fuel this. A common side effect if becoming a Surgebinding savant that we've seen so far is a severe change in appearance. We see such a change in Fused, which in my opinion is because they have become savants through thousands of years using their abilities. *Gets ready for theory being savaged by 10 WOB*
