  1. Hi, and welcome to the 17th shard! We’re always happy to have a new member! Can I interest you in a spiked cookie? Just follow me into this dark alley. While we’re walking, tell me, who’s your favorite character? What’s your favorite magic system?
  2. @MacThorstenson A certain two-armed Herdazian may be currently looking for work. Pretty interested in Hemallurgy theories. Oh, and I love cookies. Making ‘em, spiking ‘em, convincing people that they should eat them.
  3. See, even though the Lopen is incredibly handsome, I am incredibly stupid (at least from time to time). You're right. How would I delete this thread?
  4. (Please check out the theory before reading this). As we all know, the If I people (or at least some of them) have the belief that they are all part of the One, who shattered into all of them to perfect himself through experience. Remind you of something? Please feel free to Shattering theory so I can perfect it through experience
  5. Thanks, this is definitely what debunks my theory about Taln, but I feel that with a process similar to Hemallurgy or the Nahel bond Honor could change the Heralds' Spiritweb to the point that he could himself in them. Also, I made a mistake by saying Elantrian. I thought he may have been taught about the Hoed throughout his childhood, so his madness took that form. I did not mean to imply that he had been taken by the Shaod. Also, I still think that maybe when he says Taln was different, it is referencing a planet/system of origin, though there seems to be more merit to your answer. Thank you for taking time out of your day to educate me on this issue.
  6. Hey guys. I know my basis for this may seem flimsy, but hear me out. First off, after going through four millennia of constant pain, Taln goes Hoed (his mantra being the thing he usually said at the start of a Desolation). Another thing that points at the fact he is not from Roshar is that he uses a Shardblade. I think that the reason this Herald had to use an Honorblade was that he had Selian spiritual DNA, making it near impossible for him to become a Surgebinder. The same thing (excluding being from Sel) would apply to other Heralds. My second reason for believing this theory is that Taln is supposedly the one Herald who was not meant to be a Herald. Maybe this is because, as Brandon has previously stated, it is very hard to make Selian magic work outside of Sel? Also, he may be the byproduct of Sel being incredibly advanced in understanding the Cosmere, or he may have been one of the pioneers of Selian understanding of the cosmere. Oh, and finally, Brandon answered RAFO to a question about where the Heralds are from (i know that he could RAFO something that doesnt matter, but still). Thanks for reading, and please tell me what you think about this.
  7. When you avoid people wearing two earrings, because you don't joke about with Ruin.
  8. I see I am Lopen two, the two being the factor by which you multiply the original Lopen's handsomeness to get mine! Thank you for the welcome. Tis a pleasure to be part of the community!
  9. As he enters the room, Lopen notices a servant, walks up to them and says " Have you ever heard about how I swore my first ideal of the Knights Awkward? Of course not, you probably don't even know what it is. Here: Books before friends. 17th Shard before the real world. Release dates before birthdays." A cold chill rose through him, and Ashe, the spren who had been stalking him for days, gave a Hoidesque smile. Lopen scowled, " I was saving it for a more dramatic moment. Bah! No matter. The Lopen would like to join your guild, great Mistrunner, the second most attractive person on Roshar! I believe that the Herald Hoid himself wants me to join his order, so I will oblige!" Looks to Mistrunner with a smile seen only on the lips of Quipsmiths, but his eyes betray how unsure he is. How will his brazen attitude fair with one so powerful? His heart is as scrambled as a mind seeing High Imperial for the first time. He then trips over an Awkwardspren, earning a respectful glance from some members of the court, before they returned back to their books. But Mistrunner does not flinch, she simply keeps mumbling to herself about the 25th anniversary edition of Elantris, only the top of her head poking out above a copy of WOR. What will she decide? Meanwhile, he seems to have attracted so many shamespren that his figure is completely obscured, with some fearspren in there to mix it up.
  10. You know you're a Sandersfan when your response to the question why you eat so much is ' Because I'm awesome,' and you're not being sarcastic. #Lift #Edgedancer
  11. Don't know why, but there's something in them that RUINS the taste. Do I need to give up my breath for full initiation?
  12. You are in the presence of the mighty Lopen! Have you ever heard about how I lost my arm? Incredibly brave action of mine. I will tell you later. First off: Hi. Just finished Oathbringer, and I have now dared to venture on to the 17th shard, and this is my first post. So... a one-armed Herdazian walks into a bar...
