why so much secrecy from the tv set?
Invocation replied to king of nowhere's topic in The Wheel of Time
Don't feel bad, I haven't read it either. -

You act like they need to increase anticipation. Twitter of Time is going wild over every set picture, that one image of Brandon on set somewhere, and a leak that someone who lived near a filming area uploaded of some pseudo-monolithic structure. Anticipation is as high as it will ever be, and it'll likely remain that way. The lack of trailers is almost encouraging, anyway, since it might mean that they're trying to get everything top-tier before a trailer drop. -
In a way, yes. But it's kind of a chicken-and-egg thing due to Thrill's nature. Did they attract the Thrill because they were competitive, or did the Thrill show up to make them competitive?

Where Do You Get Your Books for Cheap/Free?
Invocation replied to Snakenaps's topic in Entertainment Discussion
thriftbooks.com has a solid selection for cheap. Other than that, mostly just browsing the reject bins outside large used bookstores or the free book selection that'll happen sometimes at local Barnes and Noble/Books-A-Million places. -
Ending of Mistborn Era 1 got some people pretty good.

"I will. Perhaps that will give cause to reconsider my refusal. Perhaps we would do well for this. Perhaps we may even outstrip Barbados. Time will tell," grinned Sij Hawm. "Time always does."

Voted null on this one. Pineapples are good under the right circumstances, like fresh, but bad in others, so it really depends.

Woah $895.

They're crawling in and among the little beads that signify things, so could be that they're embodiments of the Connection between things. Similar the way spanreeds work, with one green spren representing one half and one orange spren being the other half of that Connection and hanging around the other bead.

There was a thread on this a while that that suggested they were Connectionspren of some kind.

"My beliefs are not what is a liability here. You ask us to join you, professing that you are losing, without a word for how you expect us to turn that around or what proof you have that we can. You have not offered information enough to prove that this Complex is the one killing the gods, much less how or why. You are playing at things you haven't planned for. Give us something at least." Sij Hawm was almost tempted to take that offer to leave, but they had made the trip and might as well offer a concrete olive branch.
-
"You would think, if you were rendering victory, you'd be sure to do so in perpetuity. Perhaps, though, that is beyond your power. The only thing known is that you have difficulties committing fully before withdrawing and letting your favored become clay. You haven't even the power to stand up after a minor display. Perhaps granting true victory is also beyond your meagre power." With this, Sij Hawm turned their attention to Barbados, the one who, in foolishness, had called them here. "You claim that you are losing and yet ask us to bind. You claim that you oppose these godkillers, but you've put us all ripe on a platter for them. You ask us to swear an oath, to bond ourselves together, to potentially ruin us for all time, without a thought to the consequences. You are ever shortsighted, Barbados. If you have nothing to add that would convince me, I will refuse this bond myself, though my witness stands, and while I may follow your foolish cadre, it will only be to carry word of what happened so that others who would try this know there is only one path to victory over any godhunters: sit and wait. What is time to us? Have you no bastions of relief? Have you no fortresses? Have you nowhere to go? Do not ask us to share your fate brought on by lack of plans if so, and instead learn from it before it is too late. You have one more chance. "Convince me."

"I would not say that resume with such confidence. Caesar died, victim to his own friends. Alexander died before he could stabilize his rule. Napoleon died in disgrace. You claim yourself Master of the Battlefields as if time fails to render all battles, combatants and commanders alike, into dust. You seem to have a habit of choosing poorly where to throw your weight." Sij Hawm was almost disappointed. If they could see it, surely someone else could too. Perhaps there would be no deal, but they would gain regardless as the intangible bonds rotted. "I am almost disappointed in you."
-
Sij Hawm nodded in recognition of Caeli, completely brushing off the one-step-from-mortal DANK without sparing him a thought. "Should we bind, what assurances have we that this is not widening our gaps to this...Complex...and allowing them to crush us shortly? Groups are not always stronger."
-
"From outside...yes. Nothing have I seen here...convinces me to join."
-
A voice rasped from the shadows of the side, unused to talking and far from adapted to this modern language, accented heavily. "Make...your...deals. I gain...always." Sij Hawm stepped out from their viewing nook, almost pleased to see a coalition coming together from among the closest thing they had to peers, despite the...age difference. A pantheon would involve deals, and deals were their domain. A grin that seemed too wide to fit on their head grew as they came closer to the deity-dense portion of the room. "I will...witness."

Sij Hawm stalked the streets of Tokyo, as they tended to do, still revelling in the ones who thought their form was an adornment, despite the curling mist that always cloaked them. Cosplay seemed to be the current term for it, but they knew the humans would change it before long. They always did. They felt anchored here, in a way that much of the world was different. Time's passage was dual here, just as they were: eddies here and there where things remained unchanged for decades or centuries, sharply contrasted with places where nothing was the same twice. A gamble in every moment, money changing hands in a cosmic bet. These islands were their home, despite their place of origin. They breathed in deeply, enjoying the mingling scents of human progress and human despair, as a sense of time's slipping came over them, blurring their vision and carrying a vision to them: them, entering a room where power awaited them. Other gods, a summons. Trouble on the horizon as a sensation of ominousness faintly sensed at the trailing end of the dissipating slippage. When the official summons arrived, Sij Hawm was ready and waiting. Time waited for no one, not even them, and there was work to be about. The meeting must be observed at a minimum. The rest would have to be seen about.

Favorite Mistborn book in The Original Trilogy
Invocation replied to Ironwill2112's topic in Mistborn
Hero of Ages by far. I love Spook and I loved the gut-punch at the end. -
I went Radiant because I want the better healing factor being a Truthwatcher would grant.
