    Malu sucked in a bit of Stormlight and sent a burst of Progression though the busted-up guy. "You should be good now! Please do not break any more of my tables."

    You'd need to hack the system for that. Certain sets of Investiture have things that could theoretically be alloyed with Lerasium to grant access to that Shard's magic (Sand Mastery is among them if you can get your hands on Bavadinium), and if you were already an Allomancer, you might be able to burn that godmetal to do something. Some of them, though, that wouldn't work with (Sel's magics, mostly, I think), though as @Bigmikey357 said, the godmetals don't have a default Allomantic effect without Connection hacking to the Shard whose metal you're trying to burn.

    This is a...new experience, thinks Volatile, for obvious reasons. He hit the wall and decided he didn't know enough about his opponents to continue fighting like he had been, flying upwards once he'd regained his bearings from being turned into a ball.

    Well, I mean it's definitely not as simple as that, Syl's own explanation hints that it's mostly a matter of finding Investiture that's ready to have a consciousness and maybe needs a pattern to work off of.

    You might not have liked the initial ending Marsh had in Brandon's eyes, then. Initially, Sanderson had Marsh written off as being dead, "burned out by the sun" soon before Sazed Ascended.

    Volatile throws another wall of flame just ahead of Silphio, trying to cut off whatever route he was taking to whatever plan he had.

    Why they don't do that is quite simple: it's absolutely disgusting. Yes, you're transforming it all the way, theoretically. Yes, it is no longer waste. But think about the reaction to sausage (or haggis) some people have upon learning what it's made of and then picture that but 900x worse because it's human waste that goes to food that you then eat. Also the Alethi know about most sanitation things and having food touching the same surface waste was just touching is not okay. Plus, it's not like they're running out of stone any time soon, and particularly with Shardblades and those massive hammers, it doesn't take much effort to have a ready supply of stones to make food from.

    Volatile, tired of being an actual physical being to be shoved around, ramps the flames up to an 11 and fully becomes fire, rather than the lesser coating he was using to talk.

    "Finally, some fun!" Let's see if these Radiants are actually as durable as he claims, Volatile thinks, sending a wall of flame after Silphio.
