Favorite Type Of Spren (or maybe envisioning new types)
Invocation replied to AngryMistspren's topic in Stormlight Archive
They'd probably be like creationspren, shifting through the different memes nearby like creationspren turning into all those little things. -
"Yeah, there's some beds in the private parlors. You can have Parlor 3, free for tonight, if you want."
-
-
"I did say that it was only the case for some."
-
"Cruel. Each use of their powers corrupts them a little bit more with Calamity's dismissive attitude toward other life. They also have the downside of a weakness that drives their powers away, lessening Calamity's influence on them. For some, it's the only way to kill them."
-
"Katki, that sounds familiar. Do you remember what from?" 'Let me think...oh, right, dimensional rifting. On Calamity's Earth, there was a power that let people access other timelines. One of them had a being called Invocation that served the function Calamity did, but left sooner.' "Right, right. Thank you, spren memory." "I see now. Thanks to my kindly spren's wonderful memory, I've been refreshed on where you came from, and I have to admit: I don't know off the top of my head if there is anyone else from your version of earth. The Epics you see were given their powers from Calamity, another timeline's version of Invocation, but Calamity was not as nice as Invocation. Consequently, his Epics aren't as nice either."

I'm a fan of Cryptics, too, but I'm also curious about Reachers. A cool spren to see would be internetspren like Ark said, or maybe an atomspren. -

[speculation] Is Dalinar going to be....
Invocation replied to Benedictify's topic in Stormlight Archive
Oh boy the Shards. Yeah, that's a thing. Honor, Cultivation, and Odium are all Shards (you'll see more if you read more books [also read Warbreaker and there will be some stuff you'll recognize from Stormlight there]). There's 16 of them, for reference. He might become one, but that's something we won't know at least until the next book releases and probably not until the end of the first 5 books. -
"There are people from multiple Earths here, yes. One of them is an Earth where people gained powers due to a sort of divine intervention, and those people are called Epics. They're somewhat common around here."
-
"Fair, fair. I'll get that right out for you." In not very long, Malu swept back out with four plates: one plate of breaded cremling, one plate of tubs of spicy sauce, another plate of shawarma, and the accompanying spice/sauce dish. "Here you are."
-
"Absolutely. Want cremling or a larger form, and do you want it spicy or sweet?"
-
"Absolutely! Let me just go get that for you." Malu disappears into the kitchen area for a little bit, coming back out with a plate of shawarma on some flatbread with a side sampler of various extra spices and sauces. "Here you go! Hope you enjoy, it's fresh!"
-
"Fifteen or thirty, for sure. All that time spent in the cask gives it a unique flavor, and I've got one of each that was kept in multiple casks of different woods for that extra bit of flavor-accent."
-
"Absolutely. How old do you want your whiskey to be? I have 5, 10, 15, and 30 year bottles back here."
-
"Speaking of that, I heard someone was looking for shwarma somewhere in the Alleycity. Has anyone told him that this place exists yet?"
-
"Cherry Fanta? We might have some in the back, let me go check really quick." Malu walks into the back room and looks around for a little bit. After a few minutes, he walks back out carrying a two liter bottle of Cherry Fanta. "Luckily for you, it does appear we have some!" Malu pours you a glass.

They can't Investiture of one kind doesn't like to work with Investiture of another. Spren are made of Investiture and thus wouldn't be able to hold or transfer a Hemalurgic charge, so they'd just be a length of metal.
-
"Talking about the man you brought in earlier? Went off to join some Bloodflame Gang or whatever." @Jaywalk
-
Odium killed him, so not exactly, but at the same time, he used a portion of his power to help set up the Oathpact, so kind of.
-
Leechers drain all (active) Investiture, including any from the Metallic Arts, whatever Nazh is doing with that Threnodite gun, and Stormlight.

Oh, yeah, no, absolutely at least some of them were refugees. Worth noting is that it didn't happen all at once, there were multiple "waves" so to speak of immigration to Roshar from Ashyn. The first one probably would have been mostly refugees, but over time less of that would have happened and more people would have seen it as a new place to be conquered, especially once Odium started seeing an opportunity and encouraging that line of thought.
-
According to Brandon, they didn't exactly bring Odium, the humans just gave him a foothold on Roshar when they came, more than the Dawnsingers had in the past times he could have travelled there. He was also apparently very involved in the circumstances that followed and the situation that got them to have to move in the first place.

"Oh, right, you said something about kidnapping. Yeah, I can see how that would be disorienting. Basically you're in a place that has people from everywhere. I'm not sure this place technically exists, because it certainly shouldn't, but it does anyway. Like for example, look at this little rainbow right next to you on the bar here. That's Katki, my spren. Say hi, Katki." "Hello random kidnapped person! You're funny!" Katki says, despite having no mouth. "Lots of strange things here. Honestly, the best thing for it is to go out and explore."
-
"I appreciate it. You look a little frazzled. New to the Alleycity?"
